This is my uncle Fred. Well, he's not really my real uncle but he's been a friend of the family forever so I just consider him an uncle. He's good people. Took this shot of him out on my grandpa's property in Michigan when I was there this past Summer. I used to ride a little dirt bike up and down this driveway when I was young and pick wintergreen berries with my brother in the forest to the left. Yum.....wintergreen berries...

Sun came out for a hot minute today so I set up a light in the front yard to mess with it. Weather here in Seattle has been pure crap for the last while. Freakin depressing. By the time I got my stuff up, it had disappeared. Took a few shots and went back inside.

I did a one on one lesson recently, and this is a shot from that lesson. I was talking about framing and using light to highlight what you want people to pay attention to.

Little brother of a friend of a friend of mine wanted a picture, so I hooked him up in my ghetto studio aka dining room. We had just gotten done talking about the whole Spice Girls breakup, so the tears were flowing pretty profusely for both of us. Somehow we managed to work through our sadness..

An older self portrait that I did almost exactly a year ago. I had forgotten about this shoot and just found the images on my hard drive. Figured I'd edit one of them up for fun. Taken out at Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA.

This is Reese. He's the coolest dog you will ever meet. He's even cooler than me...by far. I gave him as a Christmas present to an exgirlfriend 8 years ago while we were living together, and even though we broke up a long time ago I'm still lucky enough to get custody every now and then. He's got his classic Summertime lion king haircut that we give our goldens each year although it's grown in a bit so it's not as on point as it should be. I ended up getting another dog to replace him after we broke up...Duke is actually his nephew....but as we all know one animal can't replace another. I didn't want a normal looking dog shot cause he's not a normal dog. So I threw treats up in the air and tried to capture him when he was making a silly face. Kinda like his dad

This is my homie Ben. We used to wait tables together way back in the day. He's been living with me for the last couple of weeks since things went south between him and his woman. We've both DJ'd for quite a few years, although it's pretty rare that I get on the decks to do anything more than scratch for a few minutes at a time these days. I hardly play my guitars anymore either. It's kinda been that way ever since I started taking pictures and photography ate my life like a soft, fresh, tasty krispy kreme. My computer has been down for the last 8 days and I finally got her back up and running tonight. After a few bottles of wine, I felt inspired to turn out a shot. I even gave him some of my clothes to wear for the shoot. Aren't I a good friend? Anyways, this is what came out. I gotta admit it was pretty difficult with the size paper roll I had, and my shoebox of a dining room.

My hometown. It really is one of the nicest places you could be during the all too short Summer months. I took this shot of Downtown Seattle from the infamous Pier 66 way earlier on in the Summer. I was on my way to a photoshoot on Queen Anne and had some time to kill so I rolled over to the waterfront and snapped off a few clicks. Definitely not an original view, but there really isn't that many options when it comes to this location. It's just one of those shots you have to do if you live in Seattle.

This is my Great Uncle Duane. He lives out in Merrill, MI which is so small it's actually considered a village instead of a town or a city. I wanted to get a shot of him on his farm, in front of his barn. It's the 50th anniversary of building the barn this year (if you look closely you can see 1959 on the front of it). He grows mostly corn and soybeans on his land.
The shotgun in the picture is an L.C. Smith and has been in my family for 4 generations. Way back around 1900 there was a bank robbing, and the sheriff at the time didn't have a good enough gun on him at the time, so he ran next door to the gun shop and quickly asked if he could borrow one. He ran out the door with this shotgun in hand, and ended up shooting and killing one of the bank robbers. He returned it afterwords, but no one would buy it for years because of the spilled blood in it's history. Didn't seem to bother my Great Grandpa much cause he snatched it up for a good price and it's been put to use ever since. Now that my Grandpa has passed, it belongs to my youngest brother, John. I inherited a Dan Wesson .357 Super Magnum pistol with a scope on the top. I shot it for the first time the other day, and it sounds like a canon and smells like the 4th of July.

Couple more shots of my friend and KZOK producer Keith Rivers. This is back from the beginning of the Summer. This is the first time I've ever processed using Lightroom. I did a really short initial process in LR then moved the images over to CS4 to finish them up.

My friend Keith, who was also the producer for the KZOK classic car calendar I shot last year. We headed out to just mess around, and ended up stopping at an old tree farm that I knew of in Duvall, WA. It was way more overgrown than it used to be, and I think no one pays attention to it anymore. This was taken towards the beginning of Summer.

Shot of my mother and step father in Kearney, NE. We stopped here to look at a bridge that someone had told us about, but it wasn't really that cool so I asked if I could take a picture of them by this little lake that was right beside it instead. Set up, shot and then had all my gear packed back into my Photoflex case and in the car in about 12 minutes. We were tryin to make good time, so all stops had to be really quick. I think doing shoots backstage where time is super limited has really helped me speed up my entire process.

Messin around at my friend Nick's house gettin drunk and playin with his gear (I didn't own a single piece of equipment used and processed this on his computer, but DAMN I want me an Avenger boom stand!!!). I bet him I could set up, light test and get a good shot in 10 frames. This was the 10th frame. I was surprised how noisy the D300 was at it's lowest native ISO of 200. I had to run it through Noise Ninja to clean it up. I miss my 5D:(
