That Kind of Girl admits she walks down the streets of Brighton, singing along with her iPod:

... When we both paused to wait for the pedestrian walk light another short block later, he turned to me and opened his mouth. I slid out one earbud and he said, "So you're pretty into your music," and I told him, "It brings me joy," and he smiled a little bit and I just put my earbud back in and waited for the light to change. ...

Seems one of the guards stationed at the entrance makes everybody take off their belts - and acts as if she has one rammed up her, well, you know.

And now the state loses out on $145 million in federal stimulus funds; money was to have gone to a fancy-shmancy Silver Line extension through Roxbury and Mattapan that state officials tried to foist on the neighborhoods as a fait accompli.

Lawmakers ask state to withdraw 28X proposal (from the Dorchester Reporter a couple weeks ago).

Steve Poftak is sad.

Earlier:
Gloria Fox, Byron Rushing objected to bus cramming.

I'll be upgrading the software on Sunday (yes, dear regulars, finally), so if you can't connect to the site in the afternoon or parts of the site disappear, that's why - you know how delicate surgery is (and yes, I've learned my lesson: Back up the whole database before I do anything! Not that anything will go wrong, unless, of course, it does).

Tiny taste of the new look:

Boston Police report a guy who made off with a salad from the salad bar at the Pru Shaw's yesterday tried to hold a woman up on Huntington Avenue even as he was stuffing the salad into this mouth.

A security guard who was trailing Hector Tetzaguic, 38, of Dorchester, grabbed him and held him until police arrived, BPD says. He was charged with shoplifting and attempted larceny from a person.

Innocent, etc.

Adam Weiss reports one of those black-suited special-forces T cops told him to stop taking pictures at the Government Center T stop this afternoon because, apparently, nobody's ever told him about the MBTA's official photography policy - which says picture taking is allowed on T property (just without a flash or tripod). Weiss says:

At least he was nice about it this time. He apologized, saying he didn't know the rules. Let me go on my way. Nothing against the cop, just the T for not informing him.

Panera Bread goes before the Boston Licensing Board on Dec. 2 for a license to open a restaurant and patio at 75 Spring St. - in the same little mini-mall as Finagle-A-Bagel (Ed. question: Hmm, does this mean that never overly crowded bagel place is closing? Or staying on to compete?).
