It seemed Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald was talking about the same player as he analyzed first his own quarterback, Mike Kafka, and then the one the Wildcats must contain Saturday -- No. 17 Wisconsin's Scott Tolzien. "He's very accurate. He puts the ball where it belongs. He doesn't make a lot of bad decisions and he's done a really good job," Fitzgerald said of Tolzien,...

No. 16 Wisconsin has plenty on its plate with this week's trip to Northwestern. Not only is there a chance to claim a share of the school's first Big Ten title since 1999—a scenario that also requires Michigan to beat Ohio State—but there's still an outside chance to jump into the Bowl Championship Series' Top 14 and claim an at-large bid.

For those who like to see their heroes be rewarded with individual honors, even Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema noted that sophomore tailback John Clay, senior defensive end O'Brien Schofield and freshman linebacker Chris Borland can improve their excellent odds to earn season-ending Big Ten awards. Clay, who essentially has clinched the league's rushing title, and Schofield, who shares the national lead in tackles for loss, wouldn't...

For long-suffering conference rivals looking to throw some grief back at the once-dominant Michigan Wolverines, now's the time. Have at it, Badgers. No. 21 Wisconsin became the latest Big Ten team to get the best of the reeling Wolverines and coach Rich Rodriguez, winning 45-24 Saturday behind four touchdown passes and a TD sneak from quarterback Scott Tolzien.

Tight end Garrett Graham remembers just how quiet 109,000 people could sound last year with Wisconsin rolling over Michigan 19-0 at halftime. That silence didn't last long. Michigan rallied with 20 fourth-quarter points for a 27-25 victory over then-No. 9 Wisconsin, the first of four straight losses for the Badgers as their season went into a tailspin and finished 7-6.

When Wisconsin lost back-to-back games against Ohio State and Iowa last month, it looked like the Badgers' season was in danger of slipping away. Instead, No. 21 Wisconsin knocked off its next two opponents and put itself in position to qualify for a top-tier bowl game with a home game looming Saturday against Michigan.

Wisconsin wide receiver Maurice Moore has been indefinitely suspended by coach Bret Bielema following his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving over the weekend. Bielema said Monday that he has not yet talked to the fourth-year junior, who was in an accident early Sunday and taken to a Madison hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema says starting tailback John Clay should be back at practice Tuesday and ready to play against Michigan on Saturday. Bielema said Monday that Clay showed signs of having a concussion during the Indiana game and also felt sick to his stomach. Bielema says he probably could have returned for the second half, but was held back as a precaution.

No. 24 Wisconsin relied on pure power, and it worked perfectly against Indiana yet again. John Clay ran for 134 yards and a touchdown, Montee Ball scored two TDs and the Badgers even ran out the clock on the Hoosiers' late rally, holding on for a 31-28 victory Saturday. "That's Wisconsin football," Ball said.

At Indiana, it comes down to this. Forget the blown leads, the narrow loss at Michigan, even the questionable calls. The Hoosiers can still become bowl-eligible with two wins in their last three games, starting Saturday with No. 24 Wisconsin. "We do realize it's still there, we still have an opportunity," defensive end Jammie Kirlew said.

No. 24 Wisconsin cracked the Top 25 this week and has a remaining schedule that sets up nicely for a strong push to the finish. The Badgers (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) won four of their first five games by eight points or less and were the only FBS team to be undefeated and unranked a month ago. Losses to Ohio State and Iowa followed and took the luster off the fast start, but Wisconsin routed Purdue 37-0 on...

Wisconsin cornerback Aaron Henry (7) picks up a blocked punt and scores against Purdue kicker Chris Summers, center, during the first half of an NCAA football game Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, in Madison, Wis. At left is Wisconsin cornerback Antonio Fenelus (26).

John Clay ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns and Wisconsin shut out a Big Ten opponent for the first time since 1999 to snap a two-game losing streak with a 37-0 victory over Purdue on Saturday. Freshman David Gilbert added a leaping blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown, putting an emphatic exclamation point on a dominant first half in the win that made the Badgers bowl-eligible for...

Wisconsin linebacker Mike Taylor suffered a "significant" injury to his right knee against Iowa and will miss the rest of the season. Coach Bret Bielema confirmed Taylor's season-ending injury on Tuesday as the Badgers relax during a bye week. Wisconsin lost 20-10 to then-No. 11 Iowa on Saturday.

For No. 11 Iowa to rally on the road and keep its perfect record intact, tight end Tony Moeaki couldn't stay quiet. Held without a catch in the first half as Iowa fell behind by a touchdown to Wisconsin, Moeaki caught the game-tying score early in the third quarter and made another impressive catch to set up a field goal later in the half as the Hawkeyes came back to win 20-10 Saturday to go...

Scott Tolzien threw his first collegiate pass in mop-up duty at Iowa last season. Now Wisconsin's plucky quarterback has the opportunity to derail the 11th-ranked Hawkeyes' perfect run. Iowa (6-0, 2-0 Big Ten) has been far from dominant during its 10-game winning streak dating to last season, but has mastered escaping close games, including the last two by a total of five points to match...

Wisconsin's tailspin started last season after a loss to Ohio State. Faced with a similar scenario this week, coach Bret Bielema believes the Badgers will react differently. "Just the overall demeanor of this team shows me that they're going to be able to bounce back and play a great game on Saturday," Bielema said Monday.
