MDG Monitor Tracks Progress to Development Goals
United Nations, 1 November - The United Nations, Google and Cisco today unveiled a pioneering online site that tracks progress towards decreasing global poverty by 2015, a global campaign known as the Millennium Development Goals, or MDGs.
The Member states of the Stability pact for South-Eastern European countries (including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, former Yugoslavia of Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Montenegro, and UNMIK/Kosovo) as well as Romania have signed the „eSEE Agenda +” which outlines the development of the information society during 2007-2012.

Borodyanka (Kyiv region) November 2: – The Third Meeting of the Chernobyl Economic Development Forum (ChEDF) organized by the Forum, and UNDP-led Chernobyl Recovery & Development Programme (CRDP) in cooperation with Ukrainian and Foreign partners was held in Borodyanka . The Third ChEDF meeting was an important platform in bringing together international organizations, donors, communities, businesses, NGOs, and mass media to discuss actual problems and successes, to work out the comprehensives strategies and approaches for socio-economic recovery and development of affected areas.

Discussion will focus on the implications of climate change on cooperation between the EU and its developing country partners. The main challenges Europeans and their partners are facing will be addressed through a series of events organized by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Development, following an initiative taken by the Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian affairs, Louis Michel.
TIRANA – 29, 30 October – Albanian Police spokespersons received a special training to help them improve their communication skills with the media and the public. The training – organized at the Police Assistance Mission of the European Community to Albania (PAMECA) premises – was a joint initiative of the Albanian State Police and the UNDP Support to Security Sector Reform (SSSR) programme.
From 29 to 30 October 2007, two important events for the development of the information society in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Southeastern Europe were held in Sarajevo. Under the leadership of the Stability Pact, the Ministry for Communication and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations Development Programme BiH (UNDP), with the close cooperation of the European Commission Delegation in BiH, the South Eastern Europe Ministerial Conference on Information Society Development and the 3rd Information Society Conference: e-Government and Public Administration Reform are being held in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event will see the participation of the business support organizations (chambers of commerce, export promotion agencies, etc) from all the member countries of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), namely Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine. Representatives from the BSEC institutions and all UNDP offices from the region will attend as well.
Kosovo safe houses for victims of domestic violence and trafficking in Kosovo received new equipment in an event, which also launch the UNDP campaign rising awareness on issues related to violence against women and trafficking in Kosovo, on Tuesday 16 October. The event is organized by the Women's Safety and Security Initiative of UNDP, a project funded by the British Government. The campaign is part of a wider drive, in the month of anti trafficking announced by the Prime Minister of Kosovo Mr. Agim Çeku.
On Wednesday, 24 October 2007 the world celebrated the United Nations 62nd anniversary. The Celebration also took place in Slovakia the home of UNDP Bratislava Regional Center
Čađavac is a local community situated in the south-eastern part of the Brčko Municipality in Brčko District. Population in this village is of Croatian origin, who fled the village at the start of war. Before the war, people of Čađavac grew fruit, crops and tobacco. This was an agricultural part of the country and only a few of its inhabitants were employed in the town.

TIRANA – 24 October 2007 – The Government of Albania and United Nations marked an important milestone in the UN reform process in the country by signing the One UN Programme. The Dog Training Center of the State Border Committee of Belarus was recently opened at the Smarhon Border Service Detachment (Hronda region). The Center is improved within the UNDP/EC joint project "Enhancing the System of Immigration Control at the State Border of the Republic of Belarus"
