Yahoo! Inc., the Internet company that snubbed a $44.6 billion bid from Microsoft Corp., reaffirmed its first-quarter and 2008 forecasts and laid out its case for rejecting the software maker.
Cash flow may almost double in the next three years, and sales growth goals for 2009 and 2010 are higher than analysts estimate, Yahoo said in its most detailed argument since rejecting the deal more than a month ago. That potential deserves “a significant acquisition premium,” Yahoo said.

Three public-interest groups are expected to file a joint complaint on Friday with the Federal Trade Commission calling for an investigation into the potential threat to consumer privacy posed by Google’s planned acquisition of DoubleClick.

MySpace.com has launched a beta of a news site it hopes will bring more advertising revenue to the popular social networking site.
MySpace News is a hybrid between standard news-aggregation sites, such as Google News, and a news-rating site such as Digg Inc. My contract with Cingular is drawing to a close and my Treo 650 is feeling long in the tooth, so I’ve been prowling the shopping pages on Cingular.com. Lately, nestled between the GoPhones and the PDA/smart phones, I’ve noticed a new category: refurbished phones.
Now, I’m the type of person who’s willing to pay for the latest and greatest when I get a new phone. But looking over Cingular’s list of refurbished handsets made me wonder. What exactly are refurbished phones? Who sells them? Are they really a good bargain? And in an era when carriers routinely offer great deals on new phones, when does it make sense to consider a refurbished model?
