The Zakka concept has been around for a while now, but it is little known to the majority of the online shopping community. It has a small-community, artsy vibe to it - much more familiar to those who appreciate the finer yet ordinary things in our daily life. Out of curiosity about "zakka', I went to see what Wkipedia entry had been written about it:
Zakka has also been described as "the art of seeing the savvy in the ordinary and mundane". The zakka boom could be recognized as merely another in a series of consumer fads, but it also touches issues of self-expression and spirituality. "Cute, corny and kitschy is not enough. To qualify as a zakka, a product must be attractive, sensitive, and laden with subtext."
So it is the ordinary yet expressive and attractive. And Pipit Zakka Store just fits the bill. Ordinary shop located in the Cheras neighbourhood and almost unrecognisable from outside. Once you have 'parked' your shoes and make your way into this humble lil store, it will probably an experience unlike anything else.

Fascinating shoe parking area =D

The lobby area is a breath of vintage art
And yes, you are allowed to be creative with their glass panel. Start doodling!

As a creative platform that assists local and budding creative artisans in building up their products and introducing it to the retail market, Pipit houses a wide range of handmade produces. They also organise art bazaars, or termed as Little Markets, to their definition.

This March Little Market also brings together a Notebook exhibition, where all these talented notebook makers proudly showcase their super extravagant handmade notebook that exudes nothing short of ooh-ahhs from visitors.

Yes! All of the above are notebooks with elaborate front covers.

For every Saturday throughout March, Pipit will be hosting a Little Market, where you can expect to have a host of artistic vendors, vintage items, independent artists, jewellery makers and many more, tucked in this cosy lil zakka store.

the simplest form of set-up - on the floor! =D

Vintage cameras for sale!

A believer of imperfection, Lil Unique delivers to you some pretty quirky handsewn tees

A selection of canvas arts from WellHued

Turn your favourite photos into any other form of print out as inspired by mo.CO

The Story of Ah Hua is based on a self created character by the artist, Eva Liew.
Now this is an interesting passion I must say! There is a story book about Ah Hua
with lots of illustration of the many faces of Ah Ha and her friends.
Then there's also merchandise revolving around Ah Hua and he rmany facets of life.
Definitely worth of a support. Like Ah Hua Workshop in Facebook now!

Next to Ah Hua is another character, Cora by another independant artist, Kin.
I think I should term this Cora by Kin =D
When I spotted that yoga woman postcard,
I just cannot resist that almost size 12 woman in various yoga poses!
Reminds me of someone - me!

For you amateur out there that always wonder what is crafting all about
and want to start with something pre-guided, Bubuwa has lots of DIY kits
to make simple items like felt pouches for phone, key and coin pouches and the likes.
And if you are semi-pro, you can also ge tthe DIY kit to make dolls!
Check out their extensive range of felt DIY kits in their facebook page: BUBUWA

Pretty posters but I can't remmeber the vendor's name.
Tinypinc, of course, our favourite clay maker!

This is another to scream for skills that not everyone can achieve -
I think it's called felting or something where you have to prick a ball of felt
and make it into your desired shape and size.
These cute dolls from Little Poupees are created with that pricks of needle indeed!

Besides the interesting stuff by each vendors, there is also equally interesting stuff available for sales in Pipit Store.

So yeah, if you don't have the skills, but still appreciate these cute lil trinkets that speaks a 1000 words with the intricacy that entails it, let's support these local talents and go home with something that is very dear to your heart, or perhaps cutesy gifts for friends in mind ;)

My loot from the Little Market!
Lots of tiny clay stuff for my Monster High Dolls from TinyPinc
Yoga Lady post card from Cora by Kin, pegs with quotes card from WellHued
and a Totoro bookmark ;)

Check out the Pipt Zakka Store Facebook page here and get updates on their events.
There is still another one more week (30th March 2013) if you want to catch a glimpse
of interesting vendors that will be showcasing their products.

We're loving

Remember the whimsical online store that had a giveaway of an iPad mini? I was wishfully hoping to be the lucky one, but someone else got luckier!

Melissa Ting won the iPad from LeWalk! =D

LeWalk is now fully in operation, housing a few vendors in a cute neighbourhood of their own. It is basically a portal that hosts a few vendors in some virtual 'alley'.

There are a few enterprising online businesses out there who use the points system for purchases made in their store. And LeWalk is one of those who reward their customer for every transaction. Every 100 reward points is equivalent to RM1 which you can accumulate and later use in your next purchase. Literally, it's like Bonuslink! =D

Click here to get to know more on the points system: REWARD POINTS

If this is your first time purchasing from LeWalk, do not forget to register as you will be rewarded with RM5 rebate for your next purchase. While accumulating points at the same time! Just how great is that? Nothing to complain when you get good deals ;)

Register now at LeWalk: REGISTER

I also suspect that this team of people from LeWalk must have come from the loyalty program and the banking industry! First they give you points. Then they reward you top spenders. Exactly like how some banks actually reward you with lots of great gifts when you swipe a certain amount of transaction within a period of time. From January 26th till 30th April 2013, the first 3 top spenders will be rewarded! Yes, REWARD again! You can expect iPad mini  hundreds of ringgit worth of cash vouchers for you to shop under LeWalk's neighbourhood.

With a few vendors under one umbrella, you now save the time of paying different vendors at a different time. You only need to make a single payment despite your purchases coming from different vendors in LeWalk. Worry not of the payment gateway too. Be it the normal banks transfer or even credit card, you have all the options in the world. Just make sure you have enough cash in your account ;)

My purchase from LeWalk - Colorblock sweater from De sef Armoire
Purchasing was a breeze! And lovely packaging ain't it?

#OOTD
Colorblock knitted sweater from de Sef Armoire via LeWalk
Kitty clutch from MissSze Fashion
Basic leggings from Aishop
Heels from Agape Boutique
Braided headband from Supermodels' Secrets

If you are a vendor and keen to leverage on this all in one rewarding platform, do contact the people of LeWalk to learn more about how to be part of them. Email them at admin@lewalk.com for further enquiries.

Attention entrepreneurs!
There’s a new online wholesale store in town and it’s called GoMurah.com!

GoMurah or literally translated as "Go Cheap" may not sound familiar to most retail shoppers as this is a wholesale portal favoured by those who run trading businesses. GoMurah.comis the official e-wholesale partner for GM Klang Wholesale City, located in Bandar Botanic Klang. GM Klang is a very popular wholesale destination if you need to buy products at wholesale prices for your business. Now, instead of travelling all the way to Klang you can order ready-stock items whenever and wherever you need them.

What's available in GoMurah?
So you may ask, just what can you get in GoMurah. Everything! At GoMurah.com they sell a wide variety of products ranging from fashion, toys, shoes, beauty products, box packaging, home decorations, shop fixtures and many more products that you may need for your business. You have an access to over 100 wholesalers from GM Klang Wholesale City, on GoMurah.com.
Assortment of trendy bags for the bag sellers

Always wondered how to get those beauty stocks that is in demand? Now you know ;)

The essentials of Muslim chic are available here too.

Accessories, accessories!!

How Does It Work?
Most items at GoMurah.comare ready stocks available for orders. Price are equally competitive to give you ample margin to mark up accordingly to retail rates. But you may wonder, how do I know about the price? If you do notice, there is no price indication in the website. The website uses a unique quotation-based system, whereby you send in a request of quote for all items that you are keen. So, yeah, I was told that the pricing is super reasonable. You could check it out by browsing their products and sending in request for quotations to verify that. But, only if you are a serious buyer yeah! ;) GoMurah.com is also in the midst of adding relevant function to let you communicate real time with seller and use your bargaining skills to the max! May the best buyer goes home with the best price!
Who Can Buy At Wholesale Rate?
Sorry to you hardcore retail shopaholics. No pool buying in order to get wholesale rates :( The site is meant purely for entrepreneurs, both online and offline. All you need to do is to register your company or show proof of your business (either a photo of your shop or link to your website, FB or fanpage). Serious business there! As mentioned before, prices are not indicated directly in the site as a mean to protect you fellow entrepreneurs best of interest so that there will be no direct comparison made with a retail price of a same item.
Sign up now if you don't want to continue reading what's left of this post - SIGN UP

GoMurah.comnow has a shipping promotion too! For purchases above RM300 (Peninsula Malaysia) or RM500 (East Malaysia), shipping is FREE! Again if your bargaining skills is terrific, you might even be able to negotiate for free shipping for purchases below that! =D For the convenience stocking up for your business and of course sourcing for 'murah' stocks, GoMurah.com is the site to visit!

Without much introduction needed, I am pretty sure that most of you here have known of the variety of beauty boxes that have been hitting the local online scene. When the now-defunct Fabulous Finds was first introduced, that was most probably the first time ever I have heard about the beauty box concept, of which I was told such marketing tools already existed in other countries. Nevertheless, the ideas of monthly mystery goodies to beautify thyself still excites me!

Here's a brief introduction to some beauty boxes that I have subscribed before, in case there are some of you who still have no idea about these creative services available in the online shopping bay.

1. Fabulous Finds
The very first beauty box ever made known in the local shopping scene and I have all 3 months subscription, till they closed down due to personal reasons. They have some pretty good stuff in the boxes each time which makes receiving the box a joy!

Some of the awesome stuff found in Fabulous Finds Beauty Box

It's Cosmobox by Box Culture. Hence when you Facebook search for them, search for Box Culture instead of Cosmobox. I think the page for Cosmobox is some old page not used anymore. Maybe the have plans to have variation of boxes in future like MetroBox, UrbanBox and so on hence it's Cosmobox by Box Culture =D

I only managed to purchase a single subscription of Cosmobox because there are so many other new beauty box services mushrooming about the same time and my attention got diverted! I was lucky to be able to purchase a one-month subscription for the X'mas Edition Box at RM33, which could have been a teaser for their launch. The current subscription plan starts from RM99 for 3 months worth of subscription. Yeap, no more one month plan =( Not too sure of the current contents of the box, but the X'mas edition was OK. Nothing too over-exciting and nothing too bad, though I had a higher expectation to a cheery X'mas surprise! To subscribe to this elegant looking box, click here and check out their subscriptin plan: SUBSCRIBE

Debuted in December 2012, Wonderbox is available at RM39.90 for a month subscription ( a month = one box). Alternatively, if you are pretty confident you want to receive the Wonderbox for many more months to come and have no qualms, you can opt for their quarterly (4 months), semi annual (6 months) or annual subscription. Check out their subscription plan here: SUBSCRIBE. You get to earn points if you opt for for a quarterly subscription and above. Good thing is you still get to choose to subscribe on monthly basis, when you feel like you need some self-inflicted surprise to perk up that boring life of yours! =D

Yay!!! Did you notice that full size OPI shatter? =D

The cheapest box of the lot, the Modbox retails at RM19 - not inclusive of  postage (RM9 for Peninsular / RM11 for Sabah / Sarawak). Even after postage fees are  included, it's still the cheapest! =D The packaging for Modbox is slightly smaller than the rest I have gotten so far. But do not underestimate this petite lil box as its power packed with equally great stuff too! Tried the January edition and for RM19 (not inclusive of postage), I must say this is a box worthy of subscription for that monthly squeal of excitement, if there is nothing really exciting in your life. Cheap thrill like that! =P Best thing about Modbox is that once you have tried the beauty sample and think that you would want to invest in the actual product, head on to Modshop where you can immediately purchase those products online! Ahh the convenience of online shopping all in a single portal, how about that? ;)

Yay!! Full sized Kiss Me Eye Liner! Heard that it's a great liner!

Since it's debut box, the Mivva box have consistently spice up their box contents with lots of interesting products that I have never know of. Priced at RM38 for a month subscription, this is pretty much a standard price to pay for, and something I don't mind paying for too, knowing that they have yet to disappoint with their range of products offered. Subscription can be made as a 1/3/6 months choice. To get yourself a box of surprise from Mivva, click here: SUBSCRIBE

These are the kind of 'sample' size that I love getting!

The box that needs no introduction ;) I have also previously blogged about it HERE. One of the 'atas' priced box and originally hail from Singapore. They now have a local team to cater to the growing beauty-holics in Malaysia. In a simple drawer box and seal wrapped, needless to say it exudes what the price would say of the box - 'atas'! =D A monthly subscription fees of RM60 a month, you can also opt for 3/6/12 months worth of subscription to earn points. Click here to subscribe: SUBSCRIBE!

7. The LilacBox
The box that claims to brings you only premium brands in their box. I did not manage to subscribe to this but based on those reviews I read, it does live up to what they claim to deliver - PREMIUM BRANDS! Maybe I will try to subscribe for the coming box and see if it's consistent =D Not too sure of how the subscription works as it does not have any indication to let you sign up for any coming boxes. You can however subscribe to their mailing list to keep informed of any updates.

Lilac Box debut edition

Among my league of friends, most probably I am the only one who is enthusiastic in subscribing to these =D But why not!? At a fraction of a price and need not go to the mall, only to find a parking and listen to 26 minutes of convincing talks from la Beauty Assistant and paying RM200 for a bottle of serum only to realise it doesn't suit your skin after all. Of course, there are opinions that one should never pay for samples. But no one ain't going to give me free samples without coaxing me into buying an actual sized product! I guess for me, paying an amount equivalent to the value of a full meal in Kenny Rogers is acceptable. I don't mind the self-created joy to give ownself a lil bit of surprise once a month ;)

So, which is your favourite beauty box?

"What are you going to do with the dolls?"
"Err, I don't know. What do people my age do with dolls?"
That was most probably the very first conversation I had with Sha-Lene when YSK first accepted these cute  lil' monsters for review. When I first receive Draculaura, my first thought was what a big head this doll has! To me, a doll is just a doll. You can't really expect woman over 30 to get excited over a doll. Then I got Rochelle with the prettiest skirt ever and with such a demure stare! Later comes Spectra with her gorgeous flowy purple hair.

By then I was practically having 'imaginary' friends with body of dolls standing on my desk! They are just so addictive that you cannot not get amazed with how these dolls have the most fashionable wear and limbs that can be plugged and adjusted as you wish.

Can you recognize the dolls below? Spectra Vondergeist, Draculaura, Rochelle Goyle and my newly bought Jinafire Long!

For this year of dragon, expect to see the ghouls of Monster High in a few series: Fearbook Picture Day CollectionScaris Travel Collection and Ghouls Alive Collection. Now, you may be wondering what collection am I talking about. here's some summary of what's these collection all about ;)

Monster High Core Dolls Assortment - Fearbook Picture Day
The ghouls of Monster High are glamming it up for picture day with freaky fabulous looks! Armed with their Fearbook® journals and picture day stickers, they can swap, trade and store the photographic memories. Each doll sports a fiercely fashionable new outfit incorporating details and accessories that celebrate her unique personality and style. Choose from 7 fangtastic assortments - Draculaura™, Spectra Vondergeist™, Cleo de Nile™, Abbey Bominable™, Operetta™, Lagoona Blue™ and Frankie Stein™. Each doll carries a purse and comes with a hairbrush, doll stand and Fearbook® journal with picture day stickers.

Part of the Fearbook Picture Day Collection

Monster High Scaris City of Frights (Limited Edition):
Clawdeen Wolf gets a chance to join a fashion design competition where the winner gets to become the apprentice of the world-famous designer, Moanatella Ghostier. She takes all of her ghoul friends along on the trip to Scaris, where she befriends her perfectly imperfect competitors: Skelita Calaveras and Jinafire Long. Meanwhile, together with the rest of her ghoul friends, Clawdeen finds out there is more to the competition than it seems. In the City Of Frights, everything is not always at it screams. Here, Clawdeen and her ghoul friends get to strut the runway in their most fangtastic fashion adventure yet.

Fashion forward ghouls in the Scaris Travel Collection!

Monster High Ghouls Alive Doll Assortment
For the first time ever, the ghouls of Monster High are brought to life! The Ghoul's Alive!™ doll assortment showcases these characters' signature freaky flaws as shown in the webisodes on its website. Frankie Stein™ doll amps up the energy as her skull, rib cage and bolts light up to electrifying sounds. Spectra Vondergeist™ doll glows blue and makes ghostly noises as she haunts the halls for gossip. And it must be a full moon since Clawdeen Wolf™ doll tilts her head back, closes her eyes and howls at the sky with her arms in the air. Each feature doll wears a modified, over-the-top version of her original outfit, complete with a doll stand!
Must watch this to understand what is this collection about! =D
If you are slightly intrigued now to start your very first collection, head on to Toys R Us and scream!

It's more than just facial hair - it's also the the latest fad that have been hitting the fashion scene! Started out as an iconic symbol for mostly accessories, the Mustache figure resembles that of a cult symbol of coolness.

If you are cool, you definitely would want to be spotted donning a mustache, in any form ;) Dazzling Couture is the place to go! I noticed that they have practically a mustache in every category of their accessories!

Mustache and galaxy canvas totes going for only RM22!

Mustache watches going for RM29.90 each

They even have Mustache's shoes going for RM43

Assorted necklaces from RM3.90

Bracelets from RM5.90

Mustache ear studs from RM4.90

Rings from RM5.90

Dazzling Couture  updates every week, bringing in the latest inspired accessories from  the likes of Asos, H&M, Forever 21 and many other 'in-the-trend' inspired accessories, at the most reasonable retail price! price starts from as low as RM3.90.  A lesser known - but nonetheless delicious - fact about Dazzling Couture is that it also accepts wholesale purchases. With a minimum purchase of RM250, do inquire for wholesale rates, if you're keen to start enterprising.

Something interesting that I spotted available in Dazzling Couture is the Mustache Velvety Flats! The flats comes with an inner layer of suede finishing (like a carpet!) meant to keep warm when you are stuck in an air conditioned room attending lectures. It's also a great pair to have and to be used during your winter vacation.

How would you match this flats with your apparel? ;)

Beauty Boxes need no introduction anymore! But perhaps you do not know what are the available beauty boxes available in our local online market here in Malaysia. The first time I was introduced to this fabulous ideas of getting beauty samples delivered to your doorstep was via one of the very first beauty boxes ever introduced locally - by the now defunct Fabulous Finds (which we reviewed in A Fabulous Little Secret). Little did I know that there were already a presence of another beauty box subscription that delivers to Malaysia - all the way from Singapore!

Vanity Trove may not be a strange and unknown name to beauty junkies out there. Previously, those who yearns to get hold of the Vanity Trove beauty Box would have to subsrcibe from Vanity Trove Singapore. Here's some reviews on the Singapore's version done by Street Love: February 2012 and April 2012.

Now you have Vanity Trove Malaysia  -
Exclusively curated for Malaysians.

Their signature packaging of a sturdy drawer box.

 Thoughtful packaging!

VT February's Valentine Edition

Priced at RM60 for a box (1 month subscription), there is no denying that this is one box that stands in the exclusive neighborhood among all beauty boxes. A box consist of an average of 6-8 beauty samples (the average beauty boxes out there comes with an average of 5-6 items), complemented with relevant information leaflets for each product. There are also some discount vouchers of the relevant product brands, just in case you would love to splurge on the actual product after trying it out. Here's some of the available beauty samples in the VT February box:

Di Palomo Moisturising Body Wash - when I opened the box, it smells so nice and I assumed it must have come from this tube here and immediately squirted some and rubbed in on my arms. Only realised a week later that this is a tube of body wash lotion and not body lotion -_-

Benefit Pore-fessional Pore Minimiser - totally a must-have item for those who wants flawless look when putting on make up.

Oriks Wild Ginseng Stemcell Twister Essence - non oily and gel based essence that absorbs easily and leaving you with a soft and supple skin. This is not supposed to be an individual review of these beauty samples, but as I was snapping pictures, I sort of twisted the cap off and some of the gel came off. Didn't want to waste it and slap onto face there after =D

Oriks Wild Ginseng Stemcell Essence Twister BB Cream - 2 medium sized capsule based container that claims to contain 3 tiers of main item in it : the wild ginseng based lotion, concealer and repairing serum

b.liv Off With Those Heads - Blackheads Sebum Gel - not too sure on how this works: apply and squeeze the blackheads OR apply and leave on like any other lotion and it works to stop blackheads / whiteheads formation. Anyone got experience to share regarding this product?

Wella System Professional Hair Care Set - shampoo samples are great! You can keep it to use during times when you are travelling. What are the chances that you can walk into a saloon or any haircare counter (are there even any?) and ask for some samples to bring home to try?

Something sweet for the month of Valentine ;)

The average price of a beauty box available in our local market averages about RM35-RM40 with each one offering a varying presentation of products and packaging, with an average of 5-6 products in a box. The VT box has slightly more items in it. If price is not your determining factor when purchasing a beauty box subscription, and instead you love the joy of testing out products or brand names that you have heard of but never tried before, this is a pretty functional box for the purpose of exploring new products at a fraction of the actual sized product price. Among some of the brands that you can expect to see in your future VT beauty boxes are listed here: Brands of Products

Have you heard about the new rave in town? I don't mean those rave parties and all. But it's the craze over faux-printed bags. No! They are not faux as in 'fake' (as in not authentic in brand), but a 2-dimensional printed pattern done over an inspired Birkin bag design. Mousse is the leading bag brand in Hong Kong that specializes in these printed bags. Branded bags are extremely pricey in Hong Kong and hence not everyone can afford to own a bag or two. This inspired the people in Mousse to come up with their range of 'fake printed' bag inspired from the branded bags that everyone yearns to have.

The Mousse bags come in 3 sizes - small, medium and large, and each sold separately depending on your preference of your tote size. The price starts from RM249 up to RM349 from the smallest to the largest size.

Also comes in different shapes!
Lets' have a look at some of the available designs of the Mousse bags. I've selected some of those that I personally loved!

If you are a bag lover, these are a must have to upgrade your bag style to another level. Very similar to the famous Banana Taipei bag which also focuses on a single 'fake' print bag, these Mousse bag designs grow almost everyday! Choices are virtually limitless to suit the different preferences in each bag lover. I was told that these are a craze among Hong Kong celebrities as they are quirky and bold enough to exude that super duper sense of being fashionable and edgy =D

After all these ramblings, you must be looking for local links that you can click onto and browse thru the collection. Mousse bag is currently only available in Megane Collezione for all Malaysia purchase. Check out the range of bags available (both ready stocks or pre order) here: Mousse Bags in Megane!

Alternatively, if you want to see for yourself the real thing, head on to Megane's Boutique in Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara to check these sexy new designs out.

Located at No 32A-1, Jalan PJU 5/11, Sunway Damansara

By now I am a total fan of these spectacular dolls from the Monster High series =D And my camwhoring has switched from my own camwhores to dolls camwhore! It's so much fun to have them around! And with the joined limbs that can be adjusted for all sorts of poses, it makes picture taking even more exciting. These ghouls are just so pretty in picture!

Spectra Vondergeist in the Mr Moustache flats from Dazzling Couture =D

Rochelle loves it clean and fresh - using the St Helen Mud Whitening Soap haha!

Found more creative pictures from the fans of Monster High Malaysia

Trapped romance! Also by a fan from Monster High Malaysia

Another MH fan - Watts Cullen Evens who made a fashion magazine
'HUNTED MAGAZINE' and new attire for his collection of dolls!
I think Everly, the turquoise-haired doll, is his custom MH doll!

The Create-a-Monster set is perfect for those of you
who want to have something that you can call 'crafted by yours truly'.
Maybe not 'literally', but almost practically =D

I also have a set of these Create-a-Monster Set that comes with 2 dolls. Mine was Ice and Chica Hielo (if I got their names correctly). For non Monster fans, the Create-a-Monster set most probably looked pretty scary as all of the joints and limbs are separated and nicely arranged in the box. It's written as suitable for anyone above the age of 6. Those that I know adore the Monster High Dolls are above the age of 18 =D These Create-a-Monster Set is perfect to create that piece of ultra unique yet perfectly imperfect kind of doll that you have in mind.

Now the fun part begins!
Now that you have created the Monsters, now let's look into creating some accessories! As most of us Monster High collectors enjoy taking such couture-ristic pictures of our favourite dolls, what kind of accessories or gadgets that you wish can be made available in the Monster High collection that can enhance the dolls?
  • Based on a doll of your choice (your muse), let us know what kind of accessories you think should be created for that particular doll to enhance it =D
  • For example, "My muse is Rochelle Goyle and since she enjoy sculpting, I wish to have a sculpting machine for her that would allow her to sculpt a variety of freaktastic work of art."
  • The most creative comments gets to win a set of these Create-a-Monster, courtesy of Mattel. There will be 2 Create-a-Monster sets available as prizes!
  • Submit your most creative entries to yourshoppingkaki@gmail.com no later than 20th February 2013.
  • You can join as long as you have a Malaysian postal address.

For those who have won in our previous contests, give a shout out to your other Monster fans who may want to join in this eerie fun too! :D

Then sexy siren ...

And of course the coolio!

With Valentine's Day incoming, this is a mushy story. But you most probably won't be in tears, because I am not a romantic person =P This is a story about love. The love to your friends, the love to your parents. And of course, the love to your soulmate in life - your other half. The process of building a relationship is like a putting a sketch on canvas. Everyone aims to have the most perfect piece of sketch on the canvas, like those in the wonderland ;) When we see how wonderful the entire scenario is, as shown in movies or in storybooks, we envision ourselves to be in it. We assume life is meant to be like that - we just want it to be perfect fairy tales. These real-life fairy tales, however, don't look like they are in movies or Disney cartoons - it's a lot more realistic, and a lot less magical. However, we wouldn't say that there isn't any magic at all when it comes to storytelling. There's a whole lotta magic in artwork, by talented online stores such as Black Milk Studio.

Awesome picture by Axioo
Reappropriated by Black Milk Studio

Then we realised not all love stories are like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's, or like Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley. Because each of us have our own story to tell. What better time to let your story be told, than for Valentine's Day - through whimsical artworks by Black Milk Studio?

Every story is different - what's yours?

Going on a journey only understood by us, wrestling bears in the morning, racing squirrels by noon.

Let's admit it, all girls are bossy and naggy. And it will be great if your other half agrees to what you say ;)

I told ya to Listen, Listen, Listen to me!!
Birds have feelings, I have feelings too!

Then you realise things may not be as pretty as cupcakes, as sweet as marshmallows, but you still have great moments together, being in each other's company and would want to do so for a long long time.

And so this journey of togetherness, wrestling bears, racing squirrels and drinking from the bowl will just be something that you have started to appreciate. All the cute conceptualisation of images you have seen above are part of the process that makes up the final caricature that is churned out from Black Milk Studio

With a single piece of actual photo of you and your loved one (can be your girlfriend, boyfriend or even your pets!), and some brief description of what is your style and character, let the people from Black Milk Studio work some magic and churn out the cutest doodle character based on your that! =D

My own doodled caricature | The picture used for inspiration

So you may ask, what are you going to do with this doodled illustration of yours?

I had this spark of idea to have a print out of the doodle and have it stuck on some recycled bottle to be given out as door gift on my 'DIY' and low cost wedding day! Haha!

A sample of print out attached to a collagen bottle =D

As a personalised gift to yourself or your loved one
or get one each to place in each of your homes =P

You can also use the doodle character to be part of your engagement or wedding invites print outs

More samples of what Black Milk can do for you
if you want to conceptualise your doodled characters into print-outs.

Happy and cute customers ;)

What Are the Packages Offered?
There are different packages depending on the purpose of the doodle. A basic couple doodle starts from RM350. But if you want only a doodle of yourself and no one but Yourself, do enquire within. I am pretty sure they can do that for you too.

Have you ever wondered what will the fashion scene be like, if nothing we wore makes one different from another? You could have a different personality of course, but you most probably will not be able to read the personality of these individuals compared to when they have something on that reflects themselves. What we choose to accessorize ourselves with tells a lot about our identities. You can tell if they are loud and boisterous, shy and conservative, classy, or simply a buffet-style accessorizer by having 6 rings, 8 bracelets and 4 chains on them at one time =D

Take two of the bloggers from our YSK team, for example! We have Sha-Lene, the owner of YSK - and Michelle, one of our Guest Bloggers:

Sha-Lene is a fanatic fan of bright and colorful accessories,
while Michelle prefers all things nude-colored and romantic.

Here's where blogshops that specialize in accessories come in. Tapping into the niche market for bringing out our individuality, D'sparkles is a new local store that understands the importance of being unique - and not looking like everyyyyybody else.

D'sparkles: Accessories for different personality types!
With prices ranging from RM6.50 to RM25, D'sparkles aim to to provide a  reasonably priced shopping portal for accessories. Always be on the lookout for interesting stuff that they do bring in from time to time and in limited quantities only.

Start your shopping experience by signing up as a member and
enjoy a rebate of RM5 off your second purchase!

And if you are accessorizing for Chinese New Year, great news! Spend auspiciously up to RM88 and you get free postage for your purchase. Not forgetting to mention that the D'sparkles team will also drop you a surprise gift along with your auspicious purchase! =D

Hello ghouls! I am sure by now, those of you who have been following our Monsterrific posts on this blog and on our Facebook page are familiar with the characters from Monster High. Monster High Dolls are a creation from Mattel (your Barbie maker!) which revolves around a group of monster high school kids. Each Monster High doll is a unique character in itself, with its own personality and sense of fashion. Yes, fashion - that's where we come in! ;)

We have previously organised 2 contest - the makeover contest and the designing contest based on your favourite dolls from Monster High. The much awaited moment has finally come - we'd like to thank everyone for participating, and we hope you've had as much fun as we did! For fans who have submitted your entries and have been waiting long for the results, here it is!

Winners of Best Monster Makeover
Each of you will receive a limited edition Sweet 1600 doll!

Hani Miyavihoney Suraya

"I want to have a Monster High Doll because I love this series! ever since I watched all the webisodes, I just need to collect them and I have chosen Ghoulia Yelp as my muse for the makeover because there are so many reasons that I love this character! She is the most similar to me in a lot of way. She's a tech geek who also love superhero comics. Moreover she is a Zombie. My favorite type of monster! Her favourite color is Red, the same as me and I love her sense of style with glasses."

Arisa Chow
"I want to have a Monster High Doll because owning a unique doll like Skelita is a dream come true and it also adds a lil feminine touch to my skeleton collection (p/s : i think owning barbie is too mainstream lol)  I have chosen Skelita Calaveras as my muse for the makeover because of my obsession with skulls, bones and death I can never get enough of it :-) and Skelita's personality surprisingly almost matches mine! We are ultimate party goers, party till we drop and not to mention our similar beliefs for fashion. To top it up,I've always like Mexican culture and especially their food (Tacos are my favs!) that makes Skelita the ultimate choice for me ♥"
"The world dies over and over again, but the skeleton always gets up and walks." -Henry Miller
Vanessa Aurora
"I want to have a Monster High Doll because they are so different but yet unique from any other dolls you've seen before. The ghouls in Monster High is voltageously, fangtastically and scarily cool to be with. And I have chosen Cleo de Nile as mymuse for the makeover because she is the DYNASTIC DIVA who is the most regal princess in school. She maybe arrogant at times but she is also a monster who cares about her friends and she is a Captain of the Fearleading Team. Lastly, her sense of fashion is to "Live" for, from her exotic jewelries to her traditional wrap bandages, she's a ghoul who can work a scene"

Winners of Best Designed Costume

Wei Tieng

"Inspired by Frankie Stein, this is a prom dress for the chic and edgy Frankie!
Comes with the mesh headgear for a lil' bit of English romance"
