The North America Traffic and Awards Net (NATA) has started up a PSK net on or about 7.075 mHz Sundays at 0100Z. See http://www.northamericantrafficandawards.net/. The group is experimenting with different PSK modes depending on conditions. This is also a good spot for some PSK rag chewing as opposed to the usual short exchange. Check it out.

I have acquired an ASAC-100 screwdriver control and need an operating manual for it. Hook-up is simple enough but operation procedure and fine tuning is the question. Am-Com is no longer in business and have searched the internet to no avail.....anyone have a copy? Thanks KC5MDK

Not sure if I spelled that right, hehe. I had a few questions about operating on HF. I just got my General and I wanted to make sure operate as respectfully as possible. Especially since I may not know how far and wide my signal and call(Good name) may go.
My first question is what is a good method for tuning up my antenna tuner. Since the only way to know if I am putting out the best ERP possible is to transmit over the air.
This is what I do now, tune to a nearby frequency at least 5khz away, listen and then anounce my call and ask if the frequency is clear, then I wait and listen if no station is heard anounce that I am testing and then either say teaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaest untill I manually tune my antenna tuner or use a 2khz test tone at increasing power levels up to max TPO, and then QSY to the desired operating frequency after I get my SWR down to acceptable levels. Is this ok?
The next one is how do I announce that my communication is complete on HF, do I say "clear" after my call or just my call? Sounds odd if I am not on a repeater. What about if I am in a conversation with someone and I wish to switch to a predetermined band after we are done; is it ok to say my call and then "Switching bands"?
The third question I had was what do I do if I can hear net control on an HF net but not the distant end? How do I know if I am clear to send or is it ok to send when the net control says "are there any other stations wishing to check into the net" I cant tell if I am doubling with someone and I hate to step(make them un copyable to net control) on someone that may also have a weak signal like me.
The final question is about DXing, band openings, and calling CQ. If someone is calling CQ and makes contact with me and then goes quiet is it ok to use that same frequency to call CQ since it is popular? Or do I need to find my own spot nearby? What if thats the spot and I have a really weak signal and so the chances of making contact on a different frequency are fairly low? I know I should not interfere, but sometimes pilups happen.
I know there are allot of questions here but there are some things that I have run into today with so many band openings throughout the HF amateur spectrum.

Wanting to sell my Yaesu FT817 and MFJ-813 QRP SWR meter. Price is $425.00 local. This radio has mostly sat in my shack and primary used on 2 meter and 6 meter. Have taken it on a few road trips with me and it fits well in my bags. Comes with the microphone (non DTMF), box, manual, NiCad battery, 6, 2, 440 three part antenna, shoulder strap, and power cables for base and mobile use. MFJ-813 SWR meter comes with the box and manual. Please look online for specific information. While this is not the newer D model, it has had the software modification to operate on 60 meters.
I will post a picture of it later. Also, this radio is about a 9 out of 10 as far as condition. I am a non smoker and VERY gentle with my rigs.
Cash only, but will trade up plus cash for a FT897 if you have one. Must be in same condition.
Please don't low-ball, I am not hurting for money. No payment plans, don't want to hear sob stories about fixed income, lost your job, or anything else. If you don't have the money, do the right thing and feed your family.

Hi. Im getting back into the hobby after a 35 year absence. (Things have changed just a bit.) I recently purchased a set of Drake twins R-4C and T-4XC. I want to work CW and have also purchased a bug. The bug works fine with my ICOM IC-718 when I set the CW Paddle settings accordingly. However, when I attach the bug to the T-4XC only the dash side of the bug will transmit the dits from the vibrating arm do nothing. I sure would appreciate some help. Thanks.
