Space key behavior has been changed in Win version, Space and Insert keys work the same as Ctrl+A to select - toggle tag selected, Ctrl+T is to invert tag, selected.

Tag current file {Spacebar}
Untag current file {Spacebar

I disagree, the same shortcut for two different options?? What about this:

Tag selected file(s)
Untag selected file(s)
Invert tag of selected file(s) {Ctrl+T}

"Tag current file" is not needed IMHO, if I want to tag a single file, I can disable selection and use "tag selected". What we do need is "tag selected", "tag all (in folder)", "untag all (in folder)", and "invert tag (all files in folder)".

...and wee need a new option from Win version:

Toggle tag of selected file(s) {Space}

...and for complete "file manager mode"

Invert Tag (all file(s)) {?}
Toggle tag (all file(s)) {?}

...and customizable Shift+arrows (left, right, up, down) to:

- select files (current behavior)
- tag files (tag files automatically with Shift+Right for example)

...very important option here is also this one (already requested):

- Go to the next item after selecting with Space (and Insert)

What about video? It's only with old ini, with the fresh ini it's OK, even with the same layout, strange.

Options... Integration>Folder used for other files [XnView]
When using the above option, files other than ini are placed in "~/.xnviewmp" folder instead.
This doesn't occur in windows version.
Code: Select all
[Start]
otherFlag=1
otherFolder=

Choosing program folder through custom works.
Code: Select all
otherFlag=2
otherFolder=/home/user/programs/xnviewlx/

Hi Pierre

Here is a little movie (2.4MB) demonstrating the rotation bug.

It's pretty much self explanatory.

Pardon the quality, it's my first and I am still learning about codecs etc...

Okay it seems v1.97 Beta 3 completely fixed the issues I was having. One last question, is there the ability to scan double-sided documents or for it to track or allow me to scan the flip side of a page but still keep it part of a multi-page document?

OK I have found the problem ( IPTC Keywords search into Data base):

1-) If I first select the Tab Categories ( browser mode) --> then do Tools\Search ---> then (the field : Filename is blank & the field "Directory" is blank too) --> And it works
but
2-) If I first select the Tab Folders ( browser mode) browse directories --> then do Tools\Search ---> then (the field : Filename is still blank but the field "Directory" is now not blank) --> And now it doesn't work

So this function works only if the field "Directory" is blank ! (even if "Match any of these following Conditions" is checked)

( I do not use special character in my search )

@Drakkenson:
you can use the watermark function to add some sort of canvas image (thanks to alpha support).

another useful option would be to be able to set a transparent canvas

that's exactly what i'm looking for too!
I use the batch convert to resize the canvas of couple images. Unfortunately, you can pick a solid color for the canvas only. It would be very handy if one could select "alpha" as color, at least 100% transparency. Partial transparency would be even better of course.

I also tried to use the color 255,0,255 for the canvas and set it to transparent afterwards. It doesn't work 'cause you can't replace a color by transparency :(
If one opens each image, convert colors to 8bit and set a color to transparent one by one - that works. But i can't do this using the batch converter GUI.

View->Rebuild thumbs has no apparent effect.
Navigating out of the folder and then back in restores un-rotated (i.e., original) thumb. File IS rotated, however.
Now, View->Rebuild thumbs causes the generic icon to appear.

Very strange. Are you in a folder? A category? Is it lossless rotation? A big file?

Is it right, that the ActiveX Control only read/write and manipulate picures but is not able to display them?

My progamming language HMG (Harbour Mini GUI) has an image control, but it only can load and display JPG/GIF/BMP. I need to display TIF-Images. I can define a activex-control, but then this one has to do all for it´s own.
Under XP i can use the "Fax- and Pictureviewer" activex to load/display any picture but this fails under Vista/Win7. So i decided to use the XnView-Control but it seems that it will not display the loaded picture.

Any suggestions ?

Thank you and regards from Germany ... Ricci

I've tried in german but can't reproduce...

I could reproduce the "problem", but that seems to be a feature of Windows:
As soon as the area for the menu gets too narrow, Windows wraps the menu. In your screenshot above the symbol "X" is wrapped to a new line (on the right side), this is why the menu consists of two lines. When resizing the window manually you can see well the wrapping behaviour.

When opening thew window, XnView calculates the new window size and expects one menu line, only. Now, the window is vertically too small for two menu lines + image, that's why the vertical scrollbars appears.

This behaviour is not too nice and can be considered a bug, but I guess there's little Pierre can do.

EDIT:
From what I can see the problem does not occur with all image sizes, so the matter might be more complex than described above.

Good thinking! After adding the extension to the list...

Code: Select all
TxtExt=txt c c++ cc h cpp pas js css php ini reg

... all .REG files disappear when Filter by is set to Custom.

Now, if I'm activating Show items in view ‘Thumbnails’ for Text files and rebuild the thumbs, this is what I get:

MP4 Files   New window

Hi,

I was having problems getting MP4 video files in the browser to open with my media player. They were opening fine by using F3, but wouldn't do it with a double-click. I eventually found that changing the "Open Action (Browser)" for Audio files to "Open with Associated Program" resolves the problem.

So my question is, does XNView always treat an MP4 file as an audio file?

I'm asking because I also have a problem where MP4 video files won't produce frame captures for their thumbnails, yet if I amend the extension to a another video container format like MPG or AVI, the thumbnail appears....

Cheers,

Matt
