i have to ride past a few big horse-chestnut trees on my way in to work. at the moment there are carpets of conkers around them, being gradually squashed by passing traffic [both human and motorised], but there are still a few hardy survivors, waiting to be picked up by eager schoolkids.

[actually, i'm probably being overly nostalgic there - the weeans of today wouldnae give a toss about traditional childhood autumn past-times like playing conkers. they'd lose interest straight away, when they found out there wasnae an ON/OFF switch, or anywhere to plugin your headphones]

'bluey' the blue-tit, who comes regularly throughout the day to have a chibble at his bag of cashew nuts hanging outside our livingroom window. actually i suspect there may be more than one 'bluey', but we like to pretend it's the same one every time!

not a bad wee shot, considering i took it through our less-than-sparkling window.

i'm a bit annoyed about the wonky horizon, but, lying in the lane at the entrance to chorlton meadows, i was so busy trying to get the leaf in macro focus while simultaneously not being run over by one of the constant stream of cars turning in, that i hope i may be forgiven for not noticing my horizontal hold was slightly off!
