Thanks for all the positive feedback on the last image. It inspired me to share more of what we took in the girls' school. I've tried to keep processing to a minimum on these because I don't feel they need that much. I also need to share more from the other rooms, which I showed Haggis Chick when I met her again at Focus On Imaging last week, and she encouraged me to do something with them...

Taken at an abandoned girls' school with help from Matthew.
Was a bit stuck as to how to pose in this place, but the £12 dress from Snoopers' Paradise helped. Still not all that inspired by the results, too much standing round gormlessly, but I intend to go back to this location with a model. First time I had felt the urge to really shoot a model instead of having to strip off myself, as it was freezing - thank God for the little pool of sunshine in this room...
Haven't had that much time for new work as I've been working on a big project, so this little trip out to Kent was a nice break.
i haven't yet thought of a title, but I associate this picture with this song
(another Manics song, like Hellingly, something about these abandoned places...)

...for the past few months on my new website, which if you haven't seen already, is now up.
Image inspired by various things including my 'Yoga cats' calendar ;)
I spent a good hour or two writing up the story on how I made this image, and other things like inspirations etc. I thought some people might be interested to see the huge transformation between original and result. Click here to see the blog post.

My new website and blog are now up!
The reason why I'm making a bit of a fuss about it is that it's a bit of a collaborative effort between myself and the company liveBooks, and because it's a bit of a transition for me, with various new elements to the site, plus a new blog courtesy of Paul Burgess.
You can now join my members' list which will be giving away free books and/or prints starting from mid-February.

About this pic - I have seriously had problems being able to make good SPs lately. This picture was a real struggle. I spent all day shooting pics on the musty hairball floor, aggravating my eczema, only to have a substandard collection of half-good shots to rescue. Ah well, I think I got there in the end for a pic good enough to advertise the new site... even though I had resigned myself to the usual banal hair-flicking in corners of the flat.
Shame you can't see my quirky harlequin bodysuit more clearly, as it obviously fit the theme.
No cats harmed in the throwing of these playing cards.

One of my NY resolutions is to do more and share more, so I thought I'd upload this pic from a shoot I did back in JULY.
Never too late...
I found the shoot really hard but this was probably my fave pic. Not perfect and could have done with some flashgun fill, but I hadn't got my birthday flashguns by then.
edit - yes probably overprocessed too ;-p

Thought I would share some pics I did in a collaborative shoot before Christmas.
Hope you had a nice New Year. I have so many ideas for new pics that I almost feel disadvantageously overburdened by choice... one of my (many) resolutions is to simplify things, so I will try and apply that to my currently inert approach to photography! (haven't done an SP in weeks).

This is a shot I took of a model, Steffi, at Southlands Hospital in Shoreham - it was a shoot arranged by Tristan Glinski, so thanks for inviting me along...
It was all boarded up in the part we went into, so very manky, very creepy, especially as it gets dark at 4.30pm here now.

I initially uploaded this at 2am last night. It's inspired by Yulia Gorodinski (right through to the processing). After 10 minutes of it being public, however, I deleted it... I began to feel that whilst Yulia can make something like this work, I can't. Plus, taking inspiration from other people is supposed to be in a manner which suggests your personal direction, but I don't feel this picture does signal my direction really.
This morning, I thought, why not share it with just friends instead. I like it enough to do that :)

Dying and sending my soul into this room would, actually, have been the safest way to enter - it was absolutely lethal with its floor caving in from piles of junk that looked like a suicide bomber had turned up at Alice's tea party.
Not fully satisfied with this, but it might be Christmas by the time I've finished fiddling (though according to the TV adverts, it's not long to go anyway)... or I'll have collapsed from backache and eye strain just like the one down there on the rubble. I think I will leave it here before I go too far...
