This is a shot I took of a model, Steffi, at Southlands Hospital in Shoreham - it was a shoot arranged by Tristan Glinski, so thanks for inviting me along...
It was all boarded up in the part we went into, so very manky, very creepy, especially as it gets dark at 4.30pm here now.
Blog
Also - big thanks to everyone at Brighton & Hove Camera Club who came to my talk on Wednesday and for the great response afterwards! Will blog about it shortly.

I initially uploaded this at 2am last night. It's inspired by Yulia Gorodinski (right through to the processing). After 10 minutes of it being public, however, I deleted it... I began to feel that whilst Yulia can make something like this work, I can't. Plus, taking inspiration from other people is supposed to be in a manner which suggests your personal direction, but I don't feel this picture does signal my direction really.
This morning, I thought, why not share it with just friends instead. I like it enough to do that :)
ok - made it public.

Dying and sending my soul into this room would, actually, have been the safest way to enter - it was absolutely lethal with its floor caving in from piles of junk that looked like a suicide bomber had turned up at Alice's tea party.
Not fully satisfied with this, but it might be Christmas by the time I've finished fiddling (though according to the TV adverts, it's not long to go anyway)... or I'll have collapsed from backache and eye strain just like the one down there on the rubble. I think I will leave it here before I go too far...
Taken at West Park Mental Asylum, Surrey.

West Park Mental Asylum, Surrey. Another abandoned hospital we managed to get into, stepping over treacherous holes with uninsured (at the time) new cam and lens. Wait till you see the padded cell :)
I have so much I want to write on my blog, about the emotions and adrenalin of visiting a place like this...

Now I've got it in my head again...
Collab with ML, more from Hellingly. Thought I'd share more pics than I usually put up...

More from Hellingly.
I heard that this place, after 15 years of destitution - and I only knew about it for last 5 mins! - is just being demolished right now. RIP (if that is possible for a building to do...)

Things are going to be a bit UrbEx on my stream for a while!
Collab with ML at Hellingly. Wasn't so sure about this pic and the 'extra hands' but ML convinced me to upload, was one of his fave shots.
Will upload rest of Hellingly shots before proceeding to our latest creepy antics.

I am exhibiting at Lyle O' Reitzel Gallery in Miami this autumn - my prints are in their collective show and at Buenos Aires Photo (see blog.) Also I'll be having a solo exhibition for six weeks in London (excited about that too!) this autumn at some point in Marylebone High Street, TBC as yet, more details to come...
This is from a very quick session with the camera, and this one shot just seemed to work. Maybe it's the question-mark hair?
Just got back from Photocamp Bradford, an excellent event which I really enjoyed, and where I gave a couple of talks. I'll write up a blog post very soon!
I am tending to update alot on Facebook, so join up there if you would like more details on these things, I'm into those neat looking update boxes...
it's nice to take self portraits again!! Inspired by this image by Lucia Holm (Miss Lulu & teaspoon shortage)

Jane in the rain.
We wanted to extend the water theme by having Jane interact with the sea and with rain falling.. this image by Rosie Hardy was a big inspiration for this particular composition.
Can't wait to share some new self-portraits!

Jane at Beachy Head, another of my favourites.
I meant to upload this one sooner, but I've been on various camping & caravan holiday. I always dread August ending. I will savour September to the last minute, before it gives way to autumn and its dark evenings!

Jane.
Mmm, my favourites of our shoots! We drove to Beachy Head (via a stupid route that the satnav spat out) and hobbled with the equipment for a good few minutes over the pebbles till we got to a secluded end of the beach. We were surprised to pass a couple of men who had no underpants on, when we realised it was a nudist beach.

Another from Swanbourne lake by Arundel Castle, styling by Rachel.
The fabric mesh that Rachel brought along seemed to add a great effect in itself... so again, I didn't want to go too far with processing :)

We moved onto (in Jane's case, into) a lake in Arundel, West Sussex...
though I did get in the lake too, barefooted, though I could've worn Jane's crocs!
Rachel Holland (stylist for this shoot) did a great job for this one in particular, weaving a hairband from wire and leaves whilst we drove to the location... to go with the white gown you see here, which is my white gown I've worn loads of time (one could say overused) in my own pics ;)
We took loads of shots, it was hard to know what to with them all processing-wise, whether to avoid overprocessing and keep them natural, or do something crazy with them!
All of the pics you are seeing here are Jane's ideas, mixed with mine, with an intention of creating images that replicated some of my self-portraits that Jane most liked... and all with a focus on celebrating Jane's 40th birthday.

Jane again, more from Devils Dyke. Jane had mentioned the idea of 'mother, maiden and crone' ie. the woman in the three stages of her life, hat she wanted to encapsulate visually. I saw that Crosswinds, an image she liked (pictured below) touched upon this idea in that the the dresses on each figure were blown differently to almost allude to maiden and mother. We directly emulated the image, recreating the mother and maiden poses, and even used the same dress. I added the third figure, the 'crone' to complete the trio. Jane also did some crawling for me, but I favoured the reclining poses in the end ;)
The processing almost makes Jane look falsely placed into the environment here, maybe went too far with the photoshop, but i like it :)

I recently did a commissioned shoot for a woman called Jane, who flew down on her broomstick from Bridlington to Brighton to spend 2 days making creative portraits in the style she sees in my self-portraits, so that included trick images like this one, and clone composites too...
Thanks to stylist Rachel Holland of La Luminata who styled Jane on the first day of shooting. We started off at Devils' Dyke (above) where I revisited a certain tree I had shot before. More to come...
