hi - I'd like to suggest a new linking process. Currently you link by telling URP4 that the item you're working with should also be a child to some other item elsewhere in the tree. This is a terrific capability and I make extensive use of it. What would also be very slick would be to call up a dialog similar to the Link/Move/Copy dialog whereby I am able to find other links and make them children of the current item. This would enable me to create children from far and wide in my URP4 data without ever having to leave the item that is my primary focus. Thanks. - Bal

It turns out to be a popular wish, alas, originating 1,406 days ago by G Sawyers. I'm not the first nor the last user to voice the wish. Let's hope this dream will one day come true. Armstrong

The Begin Date does not always take place on Sat or Sun. if the recurring can be set to Sat or Sun, it would be very handy. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for your feedback. Yes, it could be some redundancy. Armstrong

Try this, it has worked for me in XP, Vista, and now Win7. If you click the x at the end of the Roboform toolbar in UR, it will close and it doesn't come back. If you want it back, right click on the Roboform icon in the window's notification area/taskbar and choose browsers. Then selecting UR will bring the toolbar back.

I sorry I didn't realize my UR couldn't create/edit tables. Yes, you're right. I didn't realize because, as mentioned above, I prefer to use Word 2003/2007 to edit the tables. A lot editing functions are simply not available in UR, such as control merging the cells. The version of my C:\WINDOWS\system32\RichEd20.dll is same as yours, that's, 5.30.23.1230. Armstrong

It really strikes me that the UR spell-check dictionary is really tiny.... could you please integrate with aspell like a sane person might do? ;) Cheers, -E

UR uses Ctrl+Shift+Up/Down to move sibling items up and down. MindManager uses Alt+Shift+Up/Down to do the same. In addition, MindManager uses Alt+Shift+Home/End move sibling items to top/bottom. That's handy. Hope UR will provides the same handy keyboard shortcut. Armstrong

I agree with all you say. I just wanted to be certain you were aware of Item Notes. I think a scratchtab type of note device would be VERY useful. Don

Thanks. I've done this too, but it doesn't fit my notion of easy. I have to resize Word (I have only one monitor), I have to save it back to UR, etc. Something more organically part of UR that could be invoked with a single keyboard shortcut would be better, but I take your point

I agree that the current search capabilities of URP4 are excellent. And by using multiple locked and hoisted tabs, I can kind of simulate multiple databases. But I still have data locked away in archives that would be good to see. Question: can I, and if so how, use google desktop to peer inside URP4 data files? Would I just specify the text I want and then use filetype:urd ? I'm guessing not as I haven't been able to make it work, but maybe I'm missing something, so I figure I'd ask. If not, then the multiple db search remains high on my list. Thanks. - Bal

Quant thanks for clarifying that it's the other way around. I'm curious to see the techniques for exposing a SQLite database to external desktop search engines. I need to read up on the relevent threads when I get a chance. Meanwhile, I'm ecstatic about full-text search. Just downloaded 4.1a. Plenty of search improvements to keep me happy while waiting on cross-DB search. Don't need that as urgently as wordmuse, but I can understand anyone who regularly keeps multiple URD's open would need it like yesterday.

Hi Armstrong. No, not in that URD. I had one in the old URD, the one that wouldn't pull up the Quick Search page, if you remember. But when I created a new URD and copied most of my folders over, I purposely did not copy the templates over, thinking that the custom template might be the cause of the Quick Search issue. This URD was created after the posts about the Quick Search problem, so whatever happened to this one happened very recently. I still think it was the one web capture that I immediately edited. The edit was just to remove a rather large blank area between the title of the page and the start of the text. I deleted that white space and then clicked on Item> Edit Web Page. That should taken that web page out of the edit mode - or so I thought. The error messages started very soon after I did that. I'll not do that again! Thanks! Jim EDIT: PS - Also, since I had a saved revision of that URD from about 20 minutes prior to making that change, and after restoring it the errors were all gone, I think it is safe to assume that the web page edit was the cause of the error.

Hi Kinook, Thanks for the idea. It could be the cause because I never turn off my computer. Instead, my computer goes hibernated. I'll test your theory for a while. Nonetheless, search failures occurs less often recently. Thanks for your help. Armstrong

Instead of compacting, does closing and reopening the .urd file or restarting UR help?

Hi Jim, Do you create your own template(s)? Have you deleted template(s) created by you? Deleting user-defined templates may corrupt the URD. It's merely my own experience. Armstrong
