Ghostery is your window into the invisible web – tags, web bugs, pixels and beacons that are included on web pages in order to get an idea of your online behavior. Ghostery tracks the trackers and gives you a roll-call of the ad networks, behavioral data providers, web publishers, and other companies interested in your activity.
Available as extensions for Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari, Ghostery also lets you block the trackers it finds, and view the source of suspect scripts. Running it is quite an eye-opener, to say the least.
Really cool to see what websites are really running on your computer!
This is a super simple service for generating different HTTP codes. It’s useful for testing how your own scripts deal with varying responses. Just add the status code you want to the URL, like this: httpstat.us/200
Very handy with the geeky coding crowd… Or if you are a little teapot!
Subsonic is a free, web-based media streamer, providing ubiquitous access to your music.

The iPhone is awesome, but try having a 10 minute conversation on it, how about 20? Sometimes I wish I had a handset for it so it would be easier to hold up to my ear with my shoulder.
Enter the Desktop Handset, which costs about $59.95. You can do all the normal functions on your phone while making a call, and don’t have to pull it away from your face every time you need to look at something on it. This phone set will plug into your phones earphone jack, and will charge via USB or wall outlet.

So for those of us who don’t know, Amazon Prime is a nice service that gets you 2-day shipping on virtually everything for free- well after the initial $80 fee that you have to pay to sign up.
Amazon is good to students, and gives them a year of Amazon Prime for free. But, you need is to somehow get your hands on a .edu address. With Australia.edu, for instance, you can create an email address that ends in .edu, and then sign up for your free Amazon Prime subscription. It’s as easy as that.
As reported by a TwitPic all Apple retail stores are having an “all hands meeting” TONIGHT, which requires all employees to show up. But, there is a fun twist! All Apple’s retail store windows are being covered in black cloths to prevent people from seeing what is happening inside. Can it be the Verizon iPhone? We will find out 1/11!
UPDATE:: TUAW has to pointed out some interesting commentary:
Despite the unrelated coverup, we’re hearing that retail employees will have a meeting next weekend for the “red zone” — a code name given to the sales area of the floor. We’re also hearing of a possible new set up area, meaning you may see a part of stores set up to accommodate new iPhone purchasers get their phones activated. This would be great for Verizon customers suddenly flocking to Apple’s warm embrace, yes? At any rate, it’s more about the service than the product, both in the retail experience and on your network when you leave the store.
This morning Apple launched the App store for Mac which is either a blessing or a curse for users. However, it seems less then 24 hours after launch the DRM in the App Store has been figured out.
Install the latest Snow Leopard update(10.6.6). Sign into the new App Store (in your dock). Download Twitter, it’s free. Then go to Applications folder, locate Twitter, right click, Show Package Contents, navigate to Contents folder and copy _CodeSignature, _MASReceipt and CodeResources.
Download Angry Birds ( http://bit.ly/gy9wzk ).. run the dmg file.. drag Angry Birds into the Applications folder. right click, Show Package Contents, navigate to Contents folder and delete _CodeSignature, _MASReceipt and CodeResources. Now paste in the files you copied from the Twitter.app .
Done. Enjoy Angry Birds and any other .app file from the new Mac App Store that you can find online ;)
Now I can’t tell if its a hack, broken DRM or just a certificate issue with developers – but an interesting development none the less!
I’m back from my blogging holiday! Just wanted to wish everyone reading UNEASYsilence a happy new year! We look forward to a content rich 2011!
Hey folks! Been getting some email lately about what is the best way to get heard. It the UNEASYapp (Available for both Android and iOS at http://uneasy.me/app).
Just grab the app and hit contact to reach me directly. The most interesting comment gets a free iPod nano! We support picture uploads via both our apps and the most interesting comment (with an email address by Friday) gets a free iPod nano. Let the creative juices flow and nothing is too out there! The iPod nano is the perfect for the holidays!
On UNEASYsilence, awhile ago, we posted a picture of a white iPhone 4 that was converted from black to white by a company called Zeetron. What started as a pleasurable experience, quickly became a tale of frustration, unnecessary waiting and lack of quality leaving a white warranty less iPhone and a warning.
No, this is not a post for the people who want to say that an iPhone shouldn’t be converted. Rather, it’s a post for people that are interested in converting and what to be aware of. All experiences will be different, but this is a tale of mine.
November 8 – I say goodby to my Black iPhone & pay to overnight ship the phone to Zeetron.
November 10 – I receive my shiny White iPhone! Fast service, fast shipping, & the thing is Gorgeous! But wait… the speaker grill “mesh” is missing & there is an issue with the touch screen toward the bottom. It seems to have a couple small dead spots that makes typing or clicking on certain buttons difficult or impossible. (frustrating!)
-I’m an understanding guy, things happen. Since I’ve had such friendly fast service thus far, I email Zeetron to inquire about these issues.
November 11 – As expected, I get a friendly email back informing me that the speaker grill part is not included. (??) BUT they will install it for me if I send the phone back as well as fix the unresponsive touch screen. I have to PAY again to overnight the phone to them (boo!) but they will fix and overnight the phone back to me. (yay!)
November 15 – I overnight the phone to Zeetron & eagerly wait. I email Zeetron the tracking number.
November 16 – The phone is received by Zeetron.
November 17 – Haven’t heard anything from Zeetron yet, so I email to ask if I should be expecting a package today. They reply and tell me the tech is not in today & the phone will be shipped tomorrow. (Grr)
November 18 – I emailed asking for the tracking number and confirmation that the phone has shipped. No reply
November 19 – I emailed again asking for the status. Zeetron replied advising that the phone has shipped today & I will receive it on Monday. I am also told that “The speaker mesh is a new service which we have recently started offering, which is why that was not replaced. Everything else is in working order.”
-Wait a second, you specifically told me you would replace it if I send the phone back. At this point, I am so frustrated I don’t care. I just want my phone back & be DONE with it.
November 22 – I receive the phone back from Zeetron a full WEEK after I sent the phone back for repair. TWO weeks since I had a good working phone.
*Speaker grill was not replaced.
*The touch screen still has the same dead spots. Also the screen protector I had on is still in the same position indicating to me that they held my phone for a week and did nothing.
Now regardless of what your opinion is about the black to white conversion, I wanted to make sure everyone gets a real review… Not a hand slected 5 star review posted on the service provider’s website. You might think it is ugly, yes it voids your warranty, of course it is silly to spend that much money on something so trivial, but people are curious. I sure learned my lesson.
$199.99 for the service
$30 x2 for overnight shipping
Equals $300 & 2 weeks of my time. If Zeetron does anything to help I will update this post but for now, consider yourself WARNED!

Ever wanted to grab some of your friends or coworkers music from their shared iTunes libraries? With Aethyr its as simple as connecting to that library in iTunes, then switch to Aethyr and download some songs.
Library sharing in iTunes acts like a local-area network radio: you can stream music from computer to computer (from Mac to Windows!), but downloading is disabled. Aethyr removes that limitation, providing an easy way to move music between computers.
This is a free download and for Windows only.
Chalk, a simple sketching app for the iPad. Interestingly, it’s entirely web based, with saving managed through the built-in Photos app.
