Several times a week, The Trenches will present team reports from Sporting News' 32 NFL correspondents.

With Ronnie Brown lost for the season, the Miami Dolphins turned to their aging running back. Ricky Williams showed he's still got it. The 32-year-old Williams rushed for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns, and the Dolphins beat the Carolina Panthers 24-17 on Thursday night for their fourth win in six games to get into the AFC playoff picture.
Miami coach Tony Sparano and assistant David Lee get plenty of credit for making the wildcat a much-copied NFL sensation. Offensive coordinator Dan Henning had little trouble making it work -- perhaps because he first used direct snaps to running backs when directing Carolina's offense in 2006. It's a story that's often forgotten when the formation's rise to prominence is discussed.
