I know this had been an ongoing debate on Digg community whether Google results must be include Digg news. Just adding my two cents to it. I found this Digg news on Google search results now.

I searched for World's smallest man and found this digg listing at 10th place. To expand the ongoing discussion, lets try to analyse the scenario. Is the result redundant???
There is this Co-op module for digg which displays something like onebox results. I think this module would be useful for who already knows about Digg. What about others who are yet to become a part of Digg community? How will we add new members to the DIGG community?
The DIGG listings might NOT be redundant to them. Infact, the Digg listing is only going to add further value with its valuable comments by other diggers. After all, who would resist to receive the community feedback on their favourite topic???
I strongly think Digg listings MUST be included in Google results. I'm sure it DIGG is another special website just as Wikipedia and would add a great value because of valuable community feedback for each topic.
What do you think?

Whoa... seems like a week of discovering the smallest ones on PLANET EARTH... Earlier this week, I wrote about the world's smallest MAN and now its the world's smallest HORSE.
COURTESY: DAILY MAIL
Click here to read about the history and geography related to this "mini mini" horse - named "Thumbelina" - which is just about 17 inches tall and weighs a mere 60 lbs.

I had read lots and lots about firefox 2 phishing feature ever since it was released. I had never seen it directly in action benefiting me until today. Perhaps, SiteAdvisor had always made me feel safe of my internet sessions.
I wanted to find a way to upgrade my gmail space and found related discussions on a Google groups page. Although, the very second response in that thread shouts "That is Spam and Phishing", I missed it somehow and clicked exactly on the link which I shouldn't have clicked. My Siteadvisor didnt know about this website and it didn't say whether the website was good or not. But, my good luck, I got some message popped up from near the address bar (See below)
Wow, that was neat and right on time. I never saw such a thing earlier. I don't know if I dont get trapped into such phishing websites that much or perhaps I dont use internet that much at all :D
FIREFOX rocks!!!

I was just trying to search from flock search box and saw a new interface for Google search results. A new coloumn on the left side appeared for the first time with links to services like Google Images, Maps, News & Groups. I was not able to reproduce the same when searching from Google homepage search box.

Is this another way of pushing Google's services even if I dont want them??? Which other scenarios produce similar interfaces???

Or "USE INTERNET EXPLORER U DOPE" virus. Know what? Just got affected by it.
Want to know how? A consequence of using an infected USB. This virus is spreading through USB drives.
As Kalai points out:
Want to know how? A consequence of using an infected USB. This virus is spreading through USB drives.
As Kalai points out:
"Its a safe practice to press and hold the Shift button before inserting any usb drives to avoid the autorun feature from being activated. For newbies, hold the shift button until any LED lights on the usb drive stops flashing. Then open My Computer and right click your drive which should be the last alphabet anyway. Use the open menu and check for any auto.inf files (it might be hidden)and delete it. Mind you, these files if any, have no business in the USB drive in the first place!"
Ok, thats all about prevention which is better than cure. Now that if you are affected, never mind - you can get rid of this "amateur" virus within next 2 minutes:
Thanks a lot to "learns" at Mozillazine forums. His/her solution worked for me.
Download this app from this page
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx
direct link: http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/ProcessExplorer.zip
extract it to drive and run it .
goto view->select columns , (select) image path, click ok .
In the column named "path" look for heaps64 or heaps41 or heaps .
note down the path , open the path in explorer.
now kill the process by right clicking -> kill process.
delete the heaps folder.
if you are not able to delete.
download this http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/unlocker1.8.5.exe
install it .
now right click on the target folder (heaps*** )-> unlock -> delete

If you can't see a folder starting with "heap" or "heaps" or "heap41a" or "heaps64", never mind... just try open your MyComputer in "Explore" mode and type "C:/heap41a" or "C:/heaps64" and it is very likely that the folder will be listed in the Explorer pane on left. Just delete the folder and your PC is clean now.

So you are tired of using so many proxies to access many blocked websites and your system admins blocking the proxies as well?
Well, well, well, guess this is a smarter approach now. If you want to access orkut, try this:
http://www.operamini.com/demo/?url=orkut.com
Just replace orkut.com with any URL you want. Youtube, flickr, Gmail, Yahoomail, Hotmail or just any other cookie-enabled websites.
All the requests will be made by opera.com website hence making it easier to bypass the local filtering.
Good Luck !!!

This is easily one of the best shot "short" movies in recent times. The theme revolves around the awakening of bloodthirsty possums which are thought to have played a major role in the extinction of dinosaurs (atleast fictionally).
Will these killer possums be able to repeat their action and cause the extinction of humans this time? Not to over-hype, but you can't expect more than this in a 4:34 movie. :D
Enjoy!!!

Digital Inspiration quotes:
"Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software, hardware components, printers, missing Microsoft hotfixes, anti-virus status, software keys, network details, ports, software drivers, software file versions, hard drive partitions and every possible information about your computer."
But the best part is that people started posting their Belarc profiles on internet and the result??? Yes, you guessed. If you need a Windows XP key or any other popular software, chances are you can find it right now @ Belarc-powered Windows XP Key data

Seriously, its disgusting to think of Indian team's performance (and the team as such too). We're almost out of the world cup as I'm writing this now.
Well, Indian team all that I have got to say to you is, "Its not a shameful thing to be called a minnow... You deserve that pretty much... and I seriously dont understand why your Test nation status hasn't been grabbed yet"
India need 96 runs in 74 balls
India: 159/8 (37.4 Ovs) H Singh* 2(7) Z Khan 0(0) | Sri Lanka: 254/6 (50.0 Ovs) L Malinga 8-0-39-1 S Jayasuriya* 8.4-0-31-1 |
Run Rate : 4.22 (Required:7.78) Current Partnership: 0(1)
Last Wicket: Rahul Dravid c M Muralitharan b S Jayasuriya 60(82) - 8/159 in 37.3 ov.

My experience with Twitter & potential applications
I am a die-hard fan of Twitter ever since I knew about it. Even though not many of my Indian friends use it, I'm quite happy playing with it - who would like to resist the ability to have live conversations with people like Scoble?
For the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 (which nearly 25% of the world population is going to follow), I thought its a great way to help them receive LIVE UPDATES right on their mobile/IM absolutely free of charge. And I set up this website at www.crictimes.com
The goal of this website:
Send LIVE CRICKET SCORE UPDATES to any cricket fan on the world absolutely FREE irrespective of the medium (mobile, IM, email, RSS or web)
I didn't publicise much about it as I was not completed with my testing of the service as such. Some of the problems I observed:
(1) It doesn't work on few mobile networks (for example Hutch in India)
(2) It doesn't have local numbers for all parts of the world (Some people find it expensive to send ISD messages everytime to update from their mobiles)
(3) Apart from these, there were several random instances when the updates don't arrive on my devices at all (mobile or IM) and there is NO real reason as why its not getting updated.
(4) There is ONLY one UK-based Twitter number I can use. Although this is beneficial in most cases, having a couple of options doesn't harm/
I contacted Twitter team on this and it seems clear that their growth itself is a big barrier to offer a stable service. I can definitely understand this but I had to re-consider my decision now to run crictimes and I might not possibly run it because I dont want to let cricket fans down who might be looking for that important update on an important match.
Considering the potential applications of Twitter:
(1) You can be a broadcaster of a particular event (just like I thought of updating all the cricket fans with the live scores and related newsbits around it for the next two months)
(a) Even if you're not generating content, you can think of setting up a Twitter account exclusively to update all the breaking news on CNN / IBM / New York Times / TechCrunch or just about anything or any other blog.
(b) How about an account to follow Web 2.0 expo exclusively and keep the world virtually follow you all next month?
(c) How about a soldier/civilian following activities at Iraq and updating his Twitter account?
(d) How about someone following George Bush?
(e) How about if someone following things happening inside North Korea and updates us?
Anything like that. Possibilities are endless. Once you have followers behind you, you can set-up a business model like sending upto 10 relevant ads per day as updates to same mobile or something like that. That way you get paid for your time as well :D
Twitter is NOT a replacement for a blog but it has a great potential as a notification service.
If everyone subscribes for their own Twitter account, we don't need special news correspondants to cover an event and show us "edited" content. Every one of us can be a news correspondent covering our own topics in our own way - be it of global scope or something restricted to your friends circle.
If James Kim had used Twitter, I believe we would have had more chances to save him. The opportunites & applications are immense and sky is the limit with something like Twitter.
The beauty of twitter is the marriage it conducted between web and mobiles. I think its time for early adopted like us to support it offer a stable service. To offer a stable service, they need money. Its time now to make VCs realize that twitter is a revolutionary concept and has a huge potential just by tweaking few aspects of its business model.
Lets show our support to twitter by digging this.

Had you been into a situation where you'd given a really smart idea that greatly helped your team / company? And finally you hear your boss complementing with a BIG THANKS... Is that really sufficient? Or did you ever think your performance could have been rewarded better?
I had always thought that my mission in life is to simplify things - be it making my mom understand how "flickr" works or helping my client understand the working principle of "http"
Now I wanted to find a way to make it easy for potential technopreneurs (technology entrepreneurs) who had always dreamt of some cool technologies, software, websites or even some smart utilities but just couldn't realize it. This quest is the cause for the birth of dreamZhunt

dreamZhunt is a way to appreciate and reward smart business ideas (technology/ software/ internet related) sponsored by Netandhost. dreamZhunt is literally a "dreamz" hunt contest where the best dreamz (ideas) would be appreciated with the required (seed) funding and expert guidance. At the end of the contest, three winning ideas would be converted into businesses.
All the required seed funding and other resources are hassle of Netandhost - which means your duty, if you win, would be to run your dream business without worrying much about finances or other legal issues (or atleast to start with). Hey wait, did I say that you'll also get upto 15% stock option in the new business floated based on your idea?
So if you are working as a software engineer, business executive, student, or anyone else who has some cool concept but just couldn't find resources (or finance) to kick-start, this is THE RIGHT TIME.
All that you'd need to do is to submit your idea at www.dreamzhunt.com The best part is that you do NOT need to have any business plan to submit your idea. The application form is pretty simple and would not take more than an hour if you've something ready in your store.
Also, please dont forget to spread the message to your friends who might benefit out of this initiative. You've a large collection of logos, blog snippets (that you can put on your blog/website which automatically updates latest news here at dreamZhunt) and several other options to help spread the message.
If things work out well, we're hoping many other companies adopt similar strategies with their staff members that could be a win-win scenario for both. After all, selling "time" is a pretty old fashion of doing business :)
PS: Feel free to suggest your ideas to keep this event simpler, better and fun
