When we clear the media smoke screen from around her death, what we’re left with is a woman who came to represent all that’s paltry and wretched about Britain today.

Michael Parkinson speaking about Jade Goody. It’s commendable to hear a notable figure not being afraid to voice what everyone else is thinking.

It’s not dead - it’s just a different scene now. People who would’ve started up a blog three or four years ago are now publishing through apps like Twitter, Facebook and Flickr instead.

The main difference here is that Apple has always replaced the old or outgoing technology with a superior alternative (e.g. ADB replaced with USB, SCSI replaced with FireWire). On the new MacBook’s there’s no superior (or even comparable) alternative to FireWire.

The opening exchange is priceless. Be warned - Joe’s not afraid to use some very ‘colourful’ language.

Featuring a built-in 3MP camera, an SD card slot, built-in web browser (Opera?) and access to the ‘DSi Shop’ - an online store to download games, video and music to the console. It’s also a little bit thinner and the screens are a bit bigger (3.25in).

Due out in Japan next month, no word yet on availability in the UK. Good luck getting your hands on one in time for Christmas!

After years storing various notes and clippings in xPad, Stickies and text files, I’ve started using Evernote to organise it all. It’s working out well and I’ve been very impressed by the quality of the UI and tight web synchronization. With the news today of the API launch we should see some interesting integration with more 3rd party apps too.

Search through Google like it’s 2001. This site, first launched in October 2001, sadly doesn’t figure in the results, but a fun trip back in time nevertheless.

Very clever ad by Nintendo - the level of detail is impressive. This site from HEMA is another example of this type of ‘fake’ site built in Flash.

This will strike a chord with any developer who has had to parse a browser’s user-agent string into something meaningful. It’s now got the point where it’s become an irrelevance.

As an aside, the article contains a bit of trivia which I wasn’t aware of - the name ‘Mozilla’ is derived from ‘Mosaic Killer’ (Mosaic being the dominant [only] browser at the time). Mosaic were obviously none too chuffed, and the name was changed to Netscape…

This decision raises questions about their ability and, indeed, about the sport’s very governance.
