Several reports leaked out today that Verizon Wireless will start selling the new Samsung Omnia II starting Dec. 2 for $200. But the cool part of this announcement, which was mostly neglected in all the fuss, is that this Windows Mobile 6.5 device will include something Samsung calls "Genius Texting."

Motorola said it is buying a division of privately held RadioFrame Networks, which makes network equipment for Sprint's Nextel division. The iDen base station technology will become part of its Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility business, which was rumored to be for sale.

Nokia Corp. , the world's largest mobile-phone maker, on Friday said it plans to eliminate roughly 330 jobs in its research and development operations. The cuts will affect up to 230 employees at its Oulu site in Finland and 100 at its Copenhagen site and represent about 2% of the company's global R&D; staff.
