I know this blog has been neglected a lot lately. This is only due to another project I have been working on. Please give me your opinions on how I can improve this site because I have more time now and I want it to be a top Ubuntu resource.

You probably know that you can run Windows XP on your Linux machine through virtualization. But let's face it, you don't really want Windows you want the App under Windows. So why not eliminate Windows out of the equation and run it seamlessly on Ubuntu?

The first alpha release of Ubuntu 8.10, codenamed Intrepid Ibex, was made available on Saturday. This preliminary Intrepid prerelease includes updated packages, a new version of the Linux kernel, and an experimental new visual style.

The Ubuntu development team has announced the first alpha release of the forthcoming Ubuntu 8.10, also called Intrepid Ibex. This is still s very early release so is not recommended for general use.

The Ubuntu development team has released the first version of its Mobile Internet Device (MID) operating system as a developer’s release. Ubuntu 8.04 MID is based on the Ubuntu desktop edition but is built by the Ubuntu Mobile and Embedded community.

So this weekend wasn’t quite as productive as I’d hoped in terms of my foray into testing and documentation for OpenSUSE. Between a wedding in New Hampshire and a shed that needed building (don’t believe the salespeople - an afternoon project this is not, especially when your best helper is a five-year old), I didn’t make much progress on that front.

On the face of it, open-source software has been gaining ground of late. The much-anticipated draft of GNU GPLv3 (GNU General Public License Version 3) has been finally published, giving the open-source community an opportunity to finally get out of its own way.

The Linux Foundation last week announced the free availability of the Linux Standard Base Driver Development Kit for print drivers. The DDK provides the tools and resources for printing manufacturers to easily support all Linux distributions with one driver package, greatly reducing the time and effort needed to support Linux, a foundation spokesperson said.

I ’d like to share with you my views on latest Ubuntu 7.04 version commonly known under the name of Feisty Fawn. Once I tested unstable version for several weeks but this time I’ve run a stable release.
