There is really no reason to not have a Facebook Fan page for your product or services these days. It’s one of the easiest way to better engage and grow your fan base and customer count. One way of making your fans to continue liking your page is to provide them with the things they want to know about from you. It’s not hard to maintain your Facebook fan page with some help from Facebook’s scheduling feature. Oh, there is the feature to do that now. Very quickly, here’s how:
Scheduling posts on Facebook Fan pages
Write your post like you would normally do, but don’t click that Post button yet. On the left of the box, you will see a small clock icon. Click on it to start scheduling.
Put in the year, month, date, hour and minute (if necessary) as per your scheduled date of release, then click Schedule.
To access all your scheduled posts, if let’s say, you want to change or cancel the post, you can access them at your Edit page > Use Activity Log.
Managing Multiple Fan pages on Facebook
It’s still fine if you’re just handling one account on one network, but it’s the social media age and you have to try to cover as much social media platforms as possible. Here’s where tech comes to the rescue again.
There are actually many apps to help you schedule postings and you can maximize the potential of each social identity by posting during the best hours. In this article, you will find 5 useful web and native apps to better update and manage your Facebook fan pages for free.
Hootsuite is a great web tool to schedule postings on your Facebook fan page. The free account allows you to add up to 5 different social profiles. To start using, go to the Hootsuite homepage and register for an account.
After registration is done, you will be redirected to a welcome page with social buttons to start adding your favorite social network accounts including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. To start with your Facebook fan page postings, click on the button ‘Add a Facebook Profile’.
Now connect with your Facebook, and from here you will be able to select to add not only your personal profile, but also your fan pages.
Now to schedule a post, click the text bar at the top left corner of the page. It will expand to a larger text box with features to add link, attach image, schedule the post and add location tagging. Clicking on the schedule button will expand a calendar so you can easily pick the date and time.
Then at the box next to the text box, select which fan page you want the status to be posted on. Click the save button. Your post will be automatically scheduled to be posted on the set date.
To view your scheduled posts, hover your cursor to the left bar and a menu will expand, click on Publisher and you will see a list of scheduled posts. You can edit the posts with the given options.
If you are looking for a simpler feature and fast-load web application to schedule your post for Facebook pages, go to Grabinbox and register for an account. You can easily register with your Twitter and Facebook login or create a new account with your email and password.
After registration is completed, you will be redirected to the homepage, select Add Fan Pages to start adding your Facebook pages into your account.
If you are already logged in to Facebook, Grabinbox will automatically get an authorization to include all your fan pages, and it will be listed on the left sidebar.
Now at the top bar, there’s a text box, click on it to expand the box and you will be able to write a new post and schedule it to be released at a specific time. (Note that with Grabinbox, you will not be able to schedule post with images.)
Select the fan page you want the post to be released on, and when ready, click Queue.
After scheduling several posts, you can check them for revision at the bottom sidebar. Click on Scheduled Messages and you will have the options to delete, edit or post now.
Seesmic has a simpler web interface but it comes with native apps for your devices, so you can schedule your fan page post right from your desktop without having to login to their website. To start using, go to the Seesmic homepage and register for an account.
Now at the main page, click on the Facebook button to add pages to your account.
Once the account is connected, scroll down the page and select to install apps to your computer or any other devices.
When download is completed, launch your Seesmic app. If you installed it on your computer, you will have a small app with all features that you need to schedule a post. You can select to which fan page you want to post to, attach image and set the date and time.
The web interface looks basic, but you can still use it to schedule posts with images.
Another simple yet great application to schedule your post is Postcron. To start using, go to the Postcron homepage and click on the Login button to continue.
You will be prompted to connect with your Facebook account, click Allow and you will be redirected to the Postcron page where you can start scheduling new posts.
Select to share a status, link or photo, type your text and upload the image then click on the Schedule button. A calendar will appear, set the date and time and click Ok.
Once you click Ok, a preview of the post will be shown on the same page and you can edit it too.
Although Postcron is simple, the preview will let you see how your posting will appear on your Facebook fan page wall. You can edit the text by clicking on it.
TweetDeck is also a great application you can use to schedule posts on your Facebook fan pages. Although you can only attach images as a link (with no previews on Facebook wall), it is still useful as an alternative.
To start with TweetDeck, go to the homepage and select to sign in on the Web, or install the native app for your Mac or PC. You can also get the extension for your Chrome browser.
To use TweetDeck, you must have a TweetDeck account. Click Create Account if you don’t already have one.
When you are already logged in, add your Facebook account by clicking on the gear dropdown and select Settings.
Now click the button Add Facebook Account.
Once added, click the button to create new posts on TweetDeck.
Select your fan pages that you want to post to, write your post and set the date and time. You can attach an image but it will be displayed as a link instead of an image preview on Facebook. When done, click the Tweet button to post or schedule.
If you have been following the trend of schedule postings on fan pages, there are many more available options than what I have listed here, in free and paid versions. Some of the great apps will require you to subscribe to a paid account before you can start scheduling posts for fan pages.
So which app have you been using to manage your Facebook fan pages? Which is your favorite and do you have any better recommendations?
Working on the computer with no restrictions to the Internet may give you freedom, and keep you away from stress whenever you need to free your mind, but at times, this could also distract you from work. You may not even notice that you are distracted – until you notice lower levels of productivity. I guess, some self-control is required at this point.
You can control your own access to the Internet on your own, for instance, by setting a prohibited time: a time when you cannot surf any particular website unrelated to work. This will take a lot of discipline and at times you might need some external help. We suggest SelfRestrain.
SelfRestrain is a simple app that will block access to certain websites within a preset time. In this tutorial, you will learn how to activate the restrictions on Windows 7.
Go to SelfRestrain and proceed to download the app for your Windows.
When the download is done, open the application and set the length of time you want to restrict your access to the Web, then click on the ‘Edit Blocklist’ button to set which websites you want to block access to within the period.
You will see a small window where you can list down websites you want to limit your access to. You can insert multiple website addresses, but do insert only one website address per line. Click ‘Done’ when you have completed this. In this example, we entered ‘facebook.com’.
Click on the ‘Start’ button to start SelfRestrain.
Now try opening the restricted website as listed on your Blocklist. You will find that you are not able to reach the site. You will also see a small window on the top of the browser with a timer, stating the remaining time you have to wait before you can access the website again.
Thinking of switching browsers to escape? Not to worry, SelfRestrain works on all browsers.
With SelfRestrain, you will be able to keep up your productivity levels without being controlled by your employer. It is certainly a great app if you are working from home, or anywhere on your own. The app is currently available for Windows and Linux, while Mac users will have to wait for a bit to get their hands on it.
When you need to convert the amount of a currency exchange, what do you do? Do you search the Web for a calculator then punch in your currencies, the amount and get your figure? It isn’t very fast or convenient is it? This is especially so when you don’t have an Internet connection.
Won’t it be nice if you have an in-built app for that? Wait, you do! On your Mac you have the calculator app that allows you not to only do normal calculations but also convert currency.
Convert Currency in Mac with Calculator App
To launch your Calculator app fast, launch your ‘Spotlight’ by pressing CMD + Space then enter the name ‘Calculator’.
When your Calculator app is ready, enter any number on your calculator screen and go to Convert > Currency.
Now the currency panel will appear, select the currencies you are converting from and to, then click ‘Convert’.
That’s it! You have successfully converted a currency of your choice!
There’s an Update button on the converter panel; simply click on that button to make sure the rate is up to date. Be sure to update first before converting, to get the latest updated rate.
Apart from currency, there are also other unit conversions you can do with your Mac Calculator e.g. Energy, Length, Speed and Pressure.
The currency converter is using the rates provided by Yahoo!. So, it may be different from the rates provided by your bank, but it works well as a good reference to get an estimate of the exchange rate.
Bored with the same plain statuses with no formatting features? Bored with not being able to emphasize points on your posts, apart from the regular "shouting via capslock"?
Add some spice to your status updates by formatting the text in your Google+ statuses. Here’s how you do it.
Add text formatting
There are four text formatting you can use to enhance your posts or status updates on Google+: Italic, Bold, Strikethrough and the combination of all three.
To add the Italic effect to your Google+ posts, enclose your word(s) with the underscore ( _ ).
To add the bold text effect, enclose your word(s) with ( * )
To add Strikethrough to your text, enclose your word with dashes ( – )
To a combination of all three text format, simple enclose your word(s) with all three ( _-* ) then close in the reverse order.
Now go have some fun and surprise people on how your can apply text formatting to your text. What do you think?
Youtube is a great place to share videos, and once you get addicted to it, you’ll find that leaving comments can be fun too. But with the existing Youtube comments section, only you and the video audience will get to read your comments. And when too many people comment, your comments will be pulled down and be lost in the crowd.
To share your opinion on a video with friends, you need to hit the ‘Share’ button just below the Youtube video and select option to share on Facebook. But there is a simpler way to do this, with Facebook Youtube Comments. Facebook Youtube Comments is an extension for your Chrome browser that will add a Facebook Comments section on Youtube for easier sharing on your Facebook.
Add Facebook Comments in Youtube
To add the Facebook comments section in Youtube, go to the Facebook Youtube Comments extension page from your Chrome browser and hit the Add to Chrome button.
Once installed, open any video on Youtube and you will see changes on the comment section. You can now ‘Like’ a video on Youtube easily, and comment with Facebook comments. The Youtube comment section is still there but hidden, so click on the Show Youtube Comments bar to open the comment section.
With this extension installed, you can easily share your comment on Facebook too. To share comments on Facebook, ‘check’ the box Post to Facebook before you hit the Comment button.
If you select the ‘Post to Facebook’ option, your comment will appear on your Facebook Timeline, and your friends will see your comment together with the link to the video.
With this extension, you get to share your comments on Facebook easily without going throuhgh the Share process. Your friends will also be able to see what video you have commented on and start a conversation about it. What’s your take on this add-on? Will you use it?

Google Docs works great with Gmail but it does not offer options to manage your files from your own desktop. Opening a browser and logging in to Google Docs to manage your files isn’t much of a hassle, but being able to manage those online files from your desktop would be more comfortable and easier.
Thankfully, now we have gExplore, a desktop application that not only allows you to manage your Google Docs files, but also upload, download, organize files and labels, encrypt files and more with Google Docs from your desktop.
Download and Install gExplore
To get a copy of your gExplore, go to gExplore download page and download the application, then install gExplore on your computer.
When first opening gExplore, you are required to log into your Google account, simply provide your username and password in the provided fields and click ‘OK’.
The main window of gExplore is pretty simple with 2 main columns, they are the folder navigation called ‘Collection’ on the left and the file explorer on the right. At the bottom of the window, you have options to upload and download files, to and from Google Docs via gExplore. You can also perform uploads and downloads with drag and drop.
Between gExplore and your web Google Docs, the files will sync following the changes you made.
Encrypt File Upload
In the upload form, you will have an option to encrypt and protect your upload file with password for extra protection. To do this, click on ‘upload’ button, check on the encrypt option, fill up the password and confirm, then click on ‘Upload’.
Decrypt Download File
When you have encrypted a file, it will be inaccessible on the web and will remain encrypted. There’s no way to decrypt the online version unless you download, decrypt and reupload it to replace the encrypted version. There are two ways to decrypt your file.
Upon downloading an encrypted file, you will be prompted to decrypt the file, or leave it as it is. Click ‘Yes’ or otherwise you will not be able to open the file.
If you happen to download an encrypted file without decrypting it, no worries, you can still decrypt the file. Look at the menu button ‘Tools’ and then click on ‘Decrypt File’.
A new window will open, now select the file you want to decrypt, enter the password and click ‘Ok’.
Creating New Collection Folder
To better manage your documents, you can create new folders, which in gExplore is called a ‘Collection’. To create new Collection folder, right click on the ‘Collection’ column and select ‘New Collection’.
Name the new collection folder and click ‘Ok’.
You will now see that you have a new sub folder created under your existing ‘Collection’ on the left column.
Changing Collection Folder
Changing the collection folder is easy, you can simply drag and drop any files to a new collection folder, or simply right click on the file and select ‘Parent Collections’.
If you have created more than one of the new collection folders, select the new folder you want to transfer the file to, and click ‘Ok’.
Adding Cloud Notes
To all your files, you can leave a note for yourself, in case you forgotten the purpose of the file. This feature is however only available for a purchased version of gExplore.
Often times you will use Ctrl + tab and many other shortcuts to faster reach between applications and browsers on your Windows computer, but when you have too many applications installed, you will refer back to Start button to look for an application. On the other hand, Mac OS X Lion introduced Launchpad to allow users saves time looking for app, and a simple swipe on trackpad will showcase list of available applications. This surely saves time, and beautifully presented too.
The Windows Start button obviously has its great function, it keeps all your applications organized so you know where to find them, but at times you know that having a shortcut in your desktop lets you open application much faster. Having said that, the idea of Launchpad on Windows would certainly help you reorganize your desktop and you can faster reach your applications without going through the Start button.
This article will guide you through how to activate launchpad on your Windows with WinLaunch, a free and portable utility for your Windows 7 and Vista. Unlike the original version on Mac, this WinLaunch allow you to organize the launchpad, set which applications or folder you want to include in the launchpad. Your WinLaunch is now active although there is no indication saying it is. Press Shift + tab to open the launchpad. WinLaunch does not automatically add apps to the launchpad, so it will be empty.
Every time when you want to reach your WinLaunch launchpad, you can simply press Shift + tab or alternatively you can also pin the WinLaunch.exe file to your Windows taskbar and click on it when you need to reach to the launchpad.
Adding Items to WinLaunch
WinLaunch is empty when you open the first time. To add items, press F button on your keyboard and start dragging any applications shortcut, folders or utilities from your desktop or from the start button to the launchpad.
Add more items of your favorite by doing the drag and drop. To create a folder container in WinLaunch, simply drag any item and place it on top of the other item in the same group and group container will be created automatically.
When Item added together, your launchpad would be more organized.
You can also reorganize the placement for each item with drag and drop.
Edit / Extra Settings
At the bottom left corner of WinLaunch page, there’s a small ‘plus’ button. Click on this button to reach settings or to edit your items.
To change your items file name or the location, first click on ‘Edit’ then click on the item you want to edit. You can change the name (label) and the file path, then click ‘Confirm’ to save changes.
To change WinLaunch setting, click on the ‘plus’ button and select ‘Settings’. A settings window will appear with more options to change icon size, background, hot keys and more. Click ‘Done’ when to confirm changes.
Removing Items from WinLaunch
To remove item from your WinLaunch page is similar when you want to remove an item on your iPad and iPhone, simply click-hold on an item until it starts to jiggle, and click on the ‘x’ button to remove.
This action will only remove item from your WinLaunch page, and not from your computer.
WinLaunch has all the features you need, plus you can organize every item on the page. Now you don’t need a Mac to experience launchpad when you can have it on your Windows computer. Share with us if you find this useful, or if there’s any other alternatives.

When you are away from your computer and you found a good torrent you want to download, you will not be able to initiate the download until you get home to your computer. Even when you have an iPhone or iPad with you, you can only save the .torrent file. If only you can remotely start the torrent download from your iPhone, the download may have been completed when you reach home.
If you are on Android, there’s an app to remotely download torrents with uTorrent Remote app. Unfortunately the app is not available for iOS, although there is an alternative solution.
Torrent client has an option where you can set to automatically start downloading when it finds new .torrent files in a specific folder on your computer. Using this option, remote torrent is possible with the help of Dropbox. In this quick guide, we will go through the steps you need to remotely start torrents with iPhone/iPad even if you are away from your computer.
Start Torrents With iPhone/iPad
This trick will require you to have a Dropbox account, although the torrent download will be completed locally on your computer and not on your limited 2Gb Dropbox storage.
1. Register with Dropbox & install app
If you have yet to register an account, head over to Dropbox, register and download the client on your Mac or PC, then install the app on your iPhone/iPad.
2. Set Auto Torrent Download
Now we will set your torrent client to automatically start torrent downloads when it finds Torrent file on your Dropbox folder. If you are already using uTorrent or BitTorrent or any other torrent client, the instructions are as follow;
For Windows, open your torrent client and go to Preferences > Directories and check the box Automatically load torrents from then browse to select your Dropbox folder.
For Mac, open your torrent client, go to Preferences > Downloads, check Automatically open torrent files found in then browse to select your Dropbox folder.
When the torrent client is set to auto download and Dropbox is already installed on your Mac/PC and iOS devices, you can now download any .torrent file from the Safari browser on your iPad/iPhone. Just select ‘Open in Dropbox’.
Then select the Dropbox folder you have set on torrent client in step 2, and click ‘Upload’.
You are all set. Once upload is completed, check your torrent client on your Mac/PC and you will see that the download is initiated automatically. Make sure your Mac/PC is ON and connected to the Internet, and also your torrent client is open at all times.
Using this option makes it easy to remotely torrent from your iOS devices, all you need is Dropbox installed on your device. So what do you think of it? Have you already use this option?

Since the announcement of Facebook Timeline, we have seen many users showcase their creative touch on the feature. With a few more steps, you can even print your creative Facebook Timeline on your business card for use outside the virtual world.
Moo Card, a business-card maker recently partnered with Facebook to offer customers a free first print of their business cards, based on their Facebook Cover picture with a bit of information from their profile.
This tutorial will guide you through the process of getting your Facebook Timeline into your, probably most interesting, Business Card. Lets get started.
a. Authorize from Facebook Profile
To authorize from your Facebook Profile, firstly, log in your Facebook account, then go straight to your Timeline profile page.
Click on the ‘About’ section just below your Profile Picture as shown.
In your ‘About’ page, look for the column ‘Contact Info’ and hover your cursor over that tiny Business Card icon.
You will see a pop-up window with a preview of your Facebook Timeline Business Card. Click on the link that says ‘Print cards’.
B. Authorize from Moo Card’s Facebook Cards Page
Should you decide to start the process from Moo Card’s Facebook Cards page, simply click on the big button on the left that says ‘Start Making’, and you will be redirected to the same authorization page.
Customize your card
When you authorize access to Moo Cards, they will call all your previous Timeline Covers into its web application page, and this is where you get to customize the look of your card. Take a pick from any Cover Photos you have used previously.
You will notice a small button just below the card that says ‘Flip this card over’. Click on this button to edit the back of your Facebook Business Card with a favorite quote, or make changes to your contact details.
Proceed to Checkout
When you have finalized the design of your future Facebook Business Card, you can then proceed to checkout, but just before that, you will be prompted with a checklist. Read them and tick on all three, then click on ‘Next Step’, and you will then be directed to the checkout page.
1. Select Package
En route to the checkout page, you will be asked to select your package. The standard package for 50 pcs is free. The Facebook Business Card will be delivered to you for a shipping fee depending on your country, and the delivery is trackable too.
2. Confirm Order
Once a package is selected, you need to confirm your order to proceed to the payment page. Before clicking the checkout button, you can still review your card, should you decide to make any last minute changes.
At checkout, you will be directed to the payment page, and since this is still a promotional product, there will be no payment involved.
Now you will be redirected to a page where you need to submit your particulars together with the delivery address. When you have submitted the completed form, you will receive a confirmation email in your Inbox, stating that your order has been received.
Wait for your delivery
Congratulations, you have now completed your order. In the comfirmation email, you are provided with an order number with the link to track your delivery. Pretty neat, considering you are getting 50 pieces of your first Facebook Timeline Business Cards, for free (apart from the shipping fee).
And there you have it, your own Facebook Timeline themed business card. There aren’t many offers out there where you can test out a full service for free. In this case, you get the added security of being able to track your order too so why not give it a shot?

It supports local and international SMS messages, which means you can send SMS to any mobile phone for free. Recipients can easily reply your text message with any SMS enabled mobile phone.
Hub is currently available when sending to numbers in United States, Canada, Indonesia, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, Philippines, Pakistan, Thailand, and Vietnam. SMS recipients may be charged by their carriers.
We compile some reviews from Android Market so you can have a clearer picture of what Hub is capable or not capable of:
- If a SMS exceeds140 characters it doesn’t automatically send your message in two texts.
- This app is simple to easy-to-use. It looks really nice too.
- This app could be very good if it didn’t require a person to text you back to use.
- It costs if recipient reply the SMS to Hub from another country.
- Hub does not work on HTC rezound
Apparently Hub is still a beta program developed by Yahoo!. If you’re facing problem using Hub, you can send your feedback or report via the “Report a Problem” link in the about section of the app settings.
