Is it right, that the ActiveX Control only read/write and manipulate picures but is not able to display them?
My progamming language HMG (Harbour Mini GUI) has an image control, but it only can load and display JPG/GIF/BMP. I need to display TIF-Images. I can define a activex-control, but then this one has to do all for it´s own.
Under XP i can use the "Fax- and Pictureviewer" activex to load/display any picture but this fails under Vista/Win7. So i decided to use the XnView-Control but it seems that it will not display the loaded picture.
Any suggestions ?
Thank you and regards from Germany ... Ricci

I could reproduce the "problem", but that seems to be a feature of Windows:
As soon as the area for the menu gets too narrow, Windows wraps the menu. In your screenshot above the symbol "X" is wrapped to a new line (on the right side), this is why the menu consists of two lines. When resizing the window manually you can see well the wrapping behaviour.
When opening thew window, XnView calculates the new window size and expects one menu line, only. Now, the window is vertically too small for two menu lines + image, that's why the vertical scrollbars appears.
This behaviour is not too nice and can be considered a bug, but I guess there's little Pierre can do.
EDIT:
From what I can see the problem does not occur with all image sizes, so the matter might be more complex than described above.

Hi,
I was having problems getting MP4 video files in the browser to open with my media player. They were opening fine by using F3, but wouldn't do it with a double-click. I eventually found that changing the "Open Action (Browser)" for Audio files to "Open with Associated Program" resolves the problem.
So my question is, does XNView always treat an MP4 file as an audio file?
I'm asking because I also have a problem where MP4 video files won't produce frame captures for their thumbnails, yet if I amend the extension to a another video container format like MPG or AVI, the thumbnail appears....
Cheers,
Matt

Please consider combining an histogram with the thumbnail image when creating thumbnails for the browser.
The histogram does not need to be "live"... that is, it should be part of the passive thumb bitmap.
Here is an example:
User should have Options to...
1. Display/hide the histogram
2. Set background color and transparency
Also, since an histogram may not be useful for all thumbs, perhaps it would be appropriate to display an option dialog (to enable/disable the histogram) when the user selects View->Rebuild thumbs.
As always, thanks for listening!

Yes 32-bit toolbar is updated, but the low color (is it 8-bit?) main toolbar with magenta backround color is not updated.
Edit:
Notice the old version of cmd_Capture and missing icon cmd_SetTimeStamp.

I really miss the expandable folder trees in the MP Favorites sidebar.
In 1.9x it convenient to define various favorite "root folders" and use them instead of the entire folder tree.
Please include the behavior in MP, also.

To reproduce:
1. Hide the Browser preview panel
2. Select a video file
3. Video plays... it is not visible, but sound is in speakers.
If the Preview is hidden, either the video should not play or it should play in the thumbnail itself.

OK. After closing MP and restarting it, MP has returned to the behavior reported in the subject line.
The behavior differs between Filter By "All" and "Images". I have tested with both JPGs and PNGs, but only in folders, not categories. This is 100% reproducible behavior.
Scenario 1 (Images)
Scenario 2 (All)
Both Scenarios
Comments:
After using MP to rotate images, MP will no longer "rebuild" their thumbs... the thumb images are "stuck" at the version prior to rotation.
Changing the Filter By changes the behavior. If Filter By is "Images", rotated thumb cartouche disappears. If Filter By is "All", cartouche remains but thumb image switches to icon.

4. Select an image

6. Thumbnail image switches to generic icon
Both Scenarios
- 7. Navigate out of folder
8. Navigate back
9. Observe that original thumbs (un-rotated) have returned
10. Issue View->Rebuild thumbnails
11. If Filter By is "Images", previously rotated files disappear (again).
12. If Filter By is "All", generic icons re-appear
13. Goto Step 7

- 1. A problem with Filter BY and recently rotated images.
2. A problem with "Rebuild thumbs" for images rotated by MP.
and/or...
- 3. A problem with MP rotation itself? Though the images appear rotated correctly, perhaps something additional is wrong?

Hallo!
it is much easier! the tool is in the toolbar. I've added a screenshot.
I would suggest the following:
how would it be like, if it were possible for 10 selected images, for example, the cut to be determined. Then press a botton and XnView calculates the clippings. That would be great!

OK, removing default.keys file in Roaming folder helped, but there must be something wrong if that button didn't work, but perhaps it's the same issue.

It's a feature - already requested here. You have added similar options in the Win version 1.97 - Rating (number), Colour label (number), so what about this? Or is it too late?
What is?

- double click - fullscreenbrowser | fullscreenviewer **
I'm not sure about this one, many users open the view with double click...
I know, but for normal users it's important to toggle between browser and fullscreen and it would be easier with double click IMHO. I know many XnView users, especially forum users will be against, but this is only for new users, it won't be changed for old users. Double click is (more or less) a standard to toggle fullscreen.

Yes perhaps. I've seen that in some other software. But pane is not very wide, so it's difficult to put all Search UI.
