This dreadful 60's trend might be back before we thought it would be...

For some reason, I really do like this photo. Th delicate vibe she sends and the candidness of the photo, make it fabulous. This photo was taken in the 70's, an era I wish I lived in. Her hairstyle, and hat are just super intriguing in a gentle way. Not to say, that she has a perfect nose.
But nonetheless, loving my black and white candids. here are some of my other favorites:
Don't you just wish you were there?
punk-rock chic...Don't we all want to secretly pull this off?
such an interesting photograph. Truly intriguing. What do you guys think?

These pictures were all found on the internet. I didn't take any of them.

“I went to see a band play. The lead singer got on the microphone, and he said How many of you people feel like human beings tonight? Then he said How many of you feel like animals? And everyone cheered after the animals part. But the thing is, I cheered after the human being part because I did not know that there was a second part to the question.”

“They say life's what happens when you're busy making other plans. But sometimes in New York, life is what happens when you're waiting for a table.”

New York is one of the most inspiring cities ever. What better way to start a day then with some beautiful and artsy new york oldies?
...here are some of my favorites

so mind-boggling, yet so simple.
don't we all just want to do this everyday?
pure perfection. captures every aspect of life. the hard, and the love. I love the different types of people, that to me, makes this picture

new york, new york
a stalker or a lover?...i guess well never know

translation of lyrics:

My love
this is the last prayer
...to save your heart
the heart  is not as simple as you think
In the heart, everything that doesn't fit anywhere else, fits in there .
It fits my love, it fits three entire lives, it can fit a closet, and it fit us.
It even keeps my love.

This lyrics above repeats during the song.
the song is originally sung in Portuguese
love it.!

The fashion world is now in a retro 60's stage. Our inspirations are coming back from an era in which we shortly left but are quickly returning to. These are some then and now photos. I'm in love with the sunglasses but what do you guys like the most? and is there another era, besides the 60's that should come back into the fashion world?

So inspiring. Cried through most of it.
My heart goes to all of you and glad everything worked out.
with summer near we want to avoid getting toasted, but we all still want that flawless golden skin.
Instead, try some at home tanning. The spray works the best and best brand is L'oreal sublime bronze spray. Totally harmless and works like a charm.
And the best part is, you can protect yourself.
Regardless, enjoy your summer... schools out bitchezzzz.

With summer near I'm sure we've all noticed the new trend, feather extensions:
I do really like them, and got some done this weekend myself. For lighter hair, like the one above, use some more naturally toned colors, it will look better and way more classy. For brunettes, try doing something different, a red? a maroon? a light blue? all good options! But regardless your hair color,do whatever you like best. Your hair is one of the easiest ways for you to express yourself. And what better time to experiment then summer?

Inspiration is what drives people. Without it, the world would be as still as a rock.
I vow, for at least on year, beginning today (Saturday, June 4th 2011) to try to put a picture/pictures, videos and quotes up everyday (if possible from where I am) about things that inspire me.Now, these pictures can be taken from the internet or directly from my camera.
My blog will constantly change, colors, fonts themes and anything else I can find without being to tech savvy. It will go form anything, to everything according to whats in the air.
I hope you enjoy my inspirations and thoughts.

Getting more of a feel for this visual journalling thing. Trying to let go and just let it evolve and just be. It's less of a struggle once I stop focusing on end result... remembering it's the process that is so freeing and satisfying. It's the way children enjoy art. Pleasure and growth resides within the act, not the result. This applies to most of life. I have to remind myself of that from time to time.

FINALLY!

Finally done with my crazy 2 months of business travel
Finally got all my bills paid and extended taxes filed
Finally able to enjoy the fall before it is over
Finally got a spare moment to make art (yeah baby!)
Finally got back to this oil painting I started back in July

And here it is after the 2nd painting session!! The colors gloriously bathing in this fall morning's sunlight.

There is still plenty of work to be done on this... but I don't plan on letting another 3 months pass before the 3rd working session!

The word "Bemuse"... it has several definitions but this is the one I was going after...

BEMUSE: To occupy the attention of : distract, absorb. To cause to be engrossed in thought.

Inspired by Mary Ann Moss's blog, Dispatch From LA, I found myself noticing "type" at the one of our Jersey shore's boardwalk amusement parks. I realized there is so much interesting signage that is so characteristic of boardwalk advertising, promoting a fun day of rides, games and food. These signs are things that I take for granted and usually look right past in such a stimulating environment. But as I squeezed in my one short trip to the Jersey shore earlier this month (BTW, where did the summer go?) I realized how much this place reminds me of many fun filled trips of my youth. I began thinking, "Will this all still be here in 20, 30, 40 years from now? Or will it all be replaced by more modern amusements... or even worse, condos?". It was then that I felt propelled to memorialize a just few detail shots while we were passing through.

OK - I could do a better job croppping but hey, if I spent any more time on this post I would never get it up...

Woohooo! My fabulously creative friend, Cyndi (she's a kick*ss writer by the way), officially commissioned me to paint her a picture. It was just in conversation while we were out one day, but in the spur of the moment and the desire to make it "real" she dug through her bag to give me a one dollar bill to "seal the deal." Well Cyndi had to part with a five since it was the smallest bill she had on her that day, so to make it even more momentous I asked her to sign it (hehehe). I don't yet know what I will paint for her... she said it is my choice (oh the pressure!). Now I have to find the right image for my first official client! It is so great to have creative support... life is good. :)

Hi there! I'm finally back in blogland! Life got a bit busy and hectic for me so unfortunately art got put on a back burner. BUT, I just completed a piece of art and I am SOOO very excited about that!!!

Here it is... Red Poppies - Oil on Canvas 16 x 20.

I painted this piece for a very very special person... yes, my Mom! She just had her kitchen redone and was desiring a nice piece of red poppy art to hang on the empty spot on the newly painted wall. SO of course I was inspired and got right to work. I really enjoyed making this piece and completed it in 4 sittings of 1-2 hours each. I started out in acrylics (see image below) but decided to use that as an underpainting and execute the painting in oils. I'm just so much more comfortable with oils. I can't seem to make the acrylics work for me.

Other than that I've been unsuccessful on the collage front... several attempts left me unhappy with my lackluster results. They were bad enough that I ripped them up and tossed them, never to be seen again. But painting... ahh, with painting it feels like I've got a bit of an art groove going on. Now I'm off to work on more collage attempts! I'm not one to give up. ;)
