Hi Darlings. Kimberly Grace here, with an update from Keiko. Please take note if you have ordered something from Postlapsaria.

Keiko left for the airport earlier last week and found out her grandfather had passed away. She drove from South Florida to Fellsmere to find that Rowdy, her horse of 20 years, is extremely ill. She spent the weekend taking care of him and dealing with the vet. She got her sister's truck stuck in the mud while out there. When she got back to South Florida, she had to take her sister's dogs to the vet for emergency care. And to top it all off, her computer got smashed while she was in Fellsmere.

Needless to say, it's been a rough week.

This post is to let you all know that she has no computer and can't update her site. If you bought something and got a confirmation through Paypal, then you will be receiving that item. If you are getting an error message, it means the item has already been sold.

Thank you so much for your understanding. Please send positive thoughts Keiko's way. She needs them!

Love love,
Kimberly Grace

I'm trying to get rid of things (and make some extra money to make up for my sick time), so I listed fifteen things (to start) from my own closet. Please check it out - they're up in their own section (under Keiko's Closet) on Postlapsaria. Scroll to the bottom to see everything. I also put some of the handmade stuff on sale, so check that out as well!

Lots more at the site...please take a look:)

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

Sorry for the slow week. I flew to Florida the other day, and on the way to the airport I received some awful news. My grandfather (on my dad's side) passed away; I've been in a kind of weird place since then. So it goes. I'll be in Florida for awhile; the funeral isn't for another couple of weeks. Rest in peace, Pop Pop.

I'll still be updating - since I was sick, I have a few outfits that haven't yet been posted. I'm also selling some clothing from my own closet, so look out for that post later today.

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

p.s. Something that made me smile: Roxy told me that Pop Pop is on a cloud right now, on his way to heaven, because he has wings now. I just want to hug her every second I'm around her.

I finally made a little tutorial, since I get so many questions about my hair on a daily basis. Click here to see it on Emerging Thoughts!

p.s. While you're there, be sure to check out the new Postlapsaria skirts, dresses and tops that I made for Emerging Thoughts, here and here.

Remember when I first spotted these shoes and almost died on the spot? They have a unicorn horn for a heel; it's like they were made for me. Well, I'm a very lucky girl because Modcloth sent them to me right before the IFB Evolving Influence conference, along with this cute little dress and these gloves I've been wearing nonstop. I did what I always do with new things: I wore them all at once. I used to do that the first week of school - I would wear all of my new school clothes within the first week and then I'd have nothing but old clothes left until laundry day. Come to think of it, I also do that with groceries. I guess I'm impatient and gluttonous.

Reworked teal jacket: thrifted
bow belt: thrifted
bow necklace: gift from Mascara or Motor Oil
reworked vintage rhinestone and chain necklace: courtesy of Corvus Noir

Something you should know about me: I exhaust the things I love. My favorite songs are played on repeat until everyone wants to throw my computer out the window, every Pushing Daisies and Arrested Development episode has been watched several times. I play specific scenes from Romeo + Juliet over and over and ever since Jeremy introduced me to this commercial, I'm pretty sure Kim and I have watched it ten times.

Clothing and accessories are no exception. I probably have about fifty pairs of shoes, but I always reach for the same select few. My bag? Until I find something comparable to switch it up a bit (it's the perfect bag for me), it is what I will use 90% of the time. And this bow belt - forget it. I wear it every other day, despite having an obscene collection of belts. I get comfortable with something and reach for it instinctively. Not to mention, since I wore them the other day, they happen to be within reach, draped over my chair or sitting next to the door. I haven't decided whether or not this is a habit that needs to be broken...maybe I should branch out a little more, though. I know you all must be tired of seeing the same thing over and over.

I did manage to infuse some life into my tired closet via my new fringe skirt, which came to me courtesy of Shop Mamie. I met Amy, one half of the Shop Mamie duo, during fashion week and the lot of us (Amanda, Samara and Kim included) were attached at the hip all day and night. I thought about wearing my new skirt the day we met up, but it's always a little awkward being that girl. I love the movement of fringe skirts (I still need to return Samara's to her...); it makes walking around so much more enjoyable. I have a tendency to strut a little more when there is something to be put in motion, especially when paired with a really great song on my iPod. I guess I like to pretend I'm living in a movie, soundtrack and all. Does anyone else do that?

On Amanda's last day in NYC, the three of us (Kim, Amanda and I) headed to the Carmen Steffens preview at the Waldorf Astoria, followed by a farewell lunch at the SoHo Grand. We spent her last day in two different hotels...how odd!

Our gracious hosts (shown above) gave us a peek at some of their new shoes and bags, which are all hand-crafted and made in extremely limited runs (though the line is extensive). They are expanding to more US stores but are currently an international brand, based out of Brazil. While I'm sure they'll find success wherever they go, since exclusivity is a major perk in fashion, I can especially see them thriving in Miami. My personal favorites were the more understated nude platform pumps, but Mariah Carey favors the last pair (which are called the Mariah), which were made for one of her videos. They are very Mariah, aren't they?

A big thank you to the lovely people at Carmen Steffens for their hospitality (and delicious chocolates and pomegranate black pepper juice). We look forward to seeing more in the states!

Keiko Lynn

Keep your fingers crossed for me; I've been waiting out this horrible ailment for a week now and I'm hoping this is the last day I have to endure. I know I'm sick a lot and always have some sort of physical affliction - believe me, I know. If I could remedy that, I would. I've been this way my whole life; there is always something wrong with me and it takes me forever to recover from any sickness. I was probably my mom's most expensive kid, between my feet, teeth, allergies, general sickness and surgery. Sorry, mom...at least now I have to pay my own bills!

This was Amanda's first time at New York Fashion Week. I was a little bummed because I only got a couple of invitations to shows at the tents - and they were for the day before and the day after she was here. Although that didn't quite work out (we went to several shows and previews off-site), I was able to bring her to the tents (in the AmEx skybox, no less!) for an IFB hosted Q&A session with Fern Mallis, the Vice President of IMG and creator of NYFW. You can read more about the tweetup with Fern Mallis here. Big thank you to the amazing Jennine for inviting us (and for creating IFB in general, which is the lifeline of fashion blogs).

Amanda let me dress her in my own clothes, which was a ton of fun. We have completely different styles but were able to come to an agreement on this ensemble. I wish we would have gotten pictures of it without the load of things in her arm (and without the coat) but it was cold and we were in a hurry all day.

Amanda's outfit details:
1950s dress (underneath) - Beacon's Closet (I think? I can't even remember)
Early 1960s coat - Beacon's Closet
bow belt - thrifted
tights and shoes - hers
gloves - Hourglass Consignment (our mom's store)
bag - Coach
scarf - gift from my mom

These glasses were a lifesaver. My eyes were burning from the cold wind but sunglasses made the bleak day too dark. I allowed myself to wear them twice but then I just sucked it up and dealt with watery, burning eyes for the rest of the week. I should have bought goggles.

My outfit details:
blazer - thrifted
vintage slip
vintage 50s cardigan and gloves - gift from my mom
skirt - handmade, Postlapsaria
belt - Beacon's closet
tights - courtesy of We Love Colors
bag - courtesy of Coach
Blimey shoes - courtesy of Seychelles

Me and Diane

Sheila and Amanda

Me, Jen and Kelly

After a Q&A; with NYFW creator and IMG VP Fern Mallis at Bryant Park, Amanda and I made a stop at Sheila Frank's presentation across the street. We immediately ran into the lovely Gala Darling, whom I met just a couple nights before at the Fashion 2.0 Social Media Awards. I had the pleasure of finally meeting Susan from ModCloth, and also caught up with Diane of Snapshot Fashion. On top of all that, I met a couple of fellow bloggers, Jen and Kelly, who were lucky winners of Diane's giveaway (they won invitations to the presentation).

Sheila's clothing had a macabre inspiration, with a theme of stalkers inspiring the entire presentation. Red was the prevalent color choice, and there were photographs displayed along the wall which completed the theme. We had to run to another show but I'm glad we were able to catch up with Sheila and so many other familiar faces.

Love love,

Keiko Lynn

A couple weeks ago, I received two packages (from lovely readers) and a card that made me so teary eyed (in a good way). I just wanted to share these thoughtful gifts with you all:)

Monica Burnett sent me this adorable crocheted headband, which both my sister and I love. I'm actually surprised it is still here; I assumed Amanda would try and steal it.

Mascara or Motor Oil sent me this great vintage clutch and dainty bow necklace, which you will see in the near future (I wore it to the IFB conference).

My crafty and talented cousin Claudia sent me this handmade card and sparkly unicorn stickers!

and this was actually sent to me around the holidays but I never got around to showing you all...

Perhaps one of the most exciting packages of my life! I did a poor job or recreating the lovely packaging, but the insanely talented Kiersten Essenpreis sent me a print of my favorite painting, Cake Party! I was going to go and get it framed but instead, I'm searching for the perfect vintage treasure to frame it with.

A huge thank you to everyone for their generosity. I'm a lucky girl. The amount of love I receive on a daily basis is enough to brighten even my darkest days.

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

NYFW has been over for almost a week but you'll have to pardon me, because I'm way behind. I have been extremely ill for the past few days and I have posts waiting in queue.

One of the first presentations I attended for fashion week (and actually remembered to photograph) was Rebecca Minkoff, whose collection was charmingly girly and readily wearable. I appreciate collections that I can easily picture in my closet. I often prefer the accessible to ground-breaking; I suppose I'm a very practical girl.

I know the clothing and handbags were the focal point, but I couldn't help but fall in love with the makeup. The lighting and my poor photography skills don't properly represent the popsicle stained lips and rosy cheeks...but I intend to copy this look and soon!

You can check out the rest of the collection here.

You can see little Miku's ears in the bottom corner. She is my constant companion.

This one is for my mom. She cringes when she sees bad posture (I have horrible posture, especially when I laugh; I need to work on that). I like to give her a hard time.

MAC Russian Red...this lipstick never quits.

The first time I wore these shorts, I got a lot of negative feedback. Don't worry, I am not expecting anything different this time around. I understand that they are not for everyone, but after much consideration I have decided that they are staying in my closet. I completely respect your opinions, but sometimes I just have to stand by my own taste, you know? I will probably look back on this and think, "they were totally right, these are horrible." Right now, however, I think they're fun. I consider my clothing choices little booster shots of varying emotions. Cheerful colors make me happy, soft colors make me feel romantic, so on and so forth. On this particular day, I was in major need of a pick-me-up, so I put on the brightest of reds. Naturally, I made sure my lips matched.

Outfit Details:
red beret - from a cute little lady who used to sell her handmade hats at the flea market...for 50 cents and $1!
vintage sweater - thrifted
navy top - forever 21
navy belt - thrifted
vintage shorts - Jet Rag, Los Angeles
tights - H&M
shoes - Calvin Klein, from Beacon's Closet
Miku - she slid down a rainbow that originated in Candy Land
lipstick - MAC Russian Red (I didn't have to reapply all day. This is serious stuff.)

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

p.s. I regret that my beret is not a raspberry hue, but I gave that one away to a lovely model well over a year ago. Rest assured, I will find another one and I will listen to Prince every single time I wear it. I'm actually listening to that song right now, hence the title. Where have all the raspberry women gone?

I get an insane amount of requests for more outfit pictures of Bobby, but really, he's mostly a jeans and shirt kind of guy. He works full time, so while he enjoys dressing up, he spends most of his downtime in basics from H&M; and American Apparel. PacSun sent over a few pieces for him to try out, so he played dress up and we took some pictures.

I think he needs the next size up in the jeans, but he loved the shirt and cardigan. When I told him PacSun was sending some samples, I think he was expecting something completely out of his range of taste - maybe board shorts and a trucker cap? While they may cater to a certain subculture, it was such a pleasant surprise to open up a box of understated, comfy basics that really suit his style. They definitely paid attention to his personal taste.

cardigan, shirt and jeans: courtesy of PacSun

scarf: Gap

We all know that I love being obnoxious on holidays, but the best part of Valentine's Day 2010 is that it fell right in the middle of NYFW. I showed up to Spice Market looking like a walking valentine. Regardless, the outfit got a lot of smiles and we had a great time. It was so nice to catch up with some of my favorite blogger ladies (Erin of Cali Vintage, Rebecca of The Clothes Horse, Kelly of The Glamourai) and the amazing gals behind Modcloth and Chictopia. Our personal table was a lot of fun, with Krystal of What Is Reality Anyway?, Kelly, Carolina Engman of Fashion Squad, Mattias (cofounder of Bloglovin) and Turi of Modcloth. Wow, that was a lot of links. Anyway, we had a delicious and leisurely lunch, stuffed ourselves silly and then went on our way.

Basically, my Valentine's day was filled with a ridiculous amount of food. I ate a huge lunch and a comparably gluttonous dinner and finished it off with cheesecake. It's important not to forget what holidays are really all about: eating treats without feeling quite as guilty about it.

Tattoos   New window
Date: Thursday, 11 Feb 2010 06:02

One of the most popular requests I receive is to post pictures of our tattoos. I rarely show them, considering I don't even wear bikinis, let alone scandalous belly shirts. However, I decided to take some pictures and show you. Just one of mine (I only have two) and several (but not all...not even close) of Bobby's. I didn't photograph my other tattoo because it's a really lame one. Since Peter will surely call me out and tell you all what it says, I'll beat him to the punch. It says "she wakes up lonely" and yes, it's on my lower back. I know. Really, I know.

Mine. The geisha is an original piece of art, specifically intended for this tattoo, by André Greppi. The tattoo was done at Chrome Lotus in Orlando, by Brian (he's no longer there). I don't have a heart wrenching or deep story behind this; I just wanted to get a geisha and I knew I wanted it to be a little more modern, less traditional. I'm 1/4 Japanese...does that count? Nah, I just knew that's what I wanted.

Bobby's arm - clearly unfinished. He has bad luck with tattoo artists leaving him with unfinished pieces. One day, he'll get it finished.

A horrible picture of his left forearm - a depiction of the Rosemond watercolor we have hanging in Kim's room.

His feet (he has ribbing marks from his socks, haha).

Another unfinished piece.

O Captain, my captain. Whitman, not Every Time I Die - but I always think, "O captain, my captain, you've been drinking - what happened? I've been slurring my cadences and blacking out when I stand."

So, now you know. Do you have any tattoos? Link me to pictures!

Keiko Lynn
