Things hit a fever pitch for me as of late... My new job is going great, I love it. But it is also very long hours when were on set (which we are most days).
Of course I'm still working with From the Shadows. Actually we just released Box 4.0! Check it out.
In my free time... hehehehehehe muhahahaha. Sorry I lost it there for a sec.
My wedding is coming up in a few weeks, so lots of last minute details to take care of. We are also looking to move, so that takes more time to look at places. I am also pursuing a writing opportunity. I don't need sleep do I?
So, I'm sorry I have not been around much the past few weeks. My schedule will be getting a little lighter in a few weeks and I will be around more... Until the baby comes... sleepless nights...

Wireless Technology: Revolution, Evolution or both?
There are certain events in our history that have changed the world around us. They were logically named as revolutions (industrial revolution, etc). They have enabled people to better their lives, and change the face of the world. So I think it fits that we call this time the Wireless Revolution. The world around us these days is increasingly becoming more and more entrenched in wireless technology, ranging from cell phones, computers, cameras, to medical equipment. In my travels I have found it hard to find an area without wireless devices playing a part of daily life. Like it or not wireless is not only here to stay its going to effect our very society.
In the past you were a pretty hardcore geek if you had the latest wireless devices. But breakthroughs in these wireless technologies over the past few years have bridged the gap between elite technology geek and the general public. The 2.4Ghz spectrum seeing the biggest explosion of technologies such as Wireless Networking, Wireless Security Cameras, and many many others.
What many of the manufacturers are just beginning to realize is that many “consumers/users†are far from a predictable demographic. These users are modifying and evolving standard technologies to suit their needs, into creations far beyond the vision of the manufacturers. Many of these modifications get adopted by the manufacturers. Although they rarely give credit to those they got the idea from... we know... Call us what you will, hobbyists, hardware hackers, coders, or just people who love technology. We are evolving the face of technology and the world around us. Corporate America, it's time to recognize us!
In "From The Shadows: Box 3.0" the FTS crew is showing you an inside look at the vulnerabilities of the 2.4Ghz spectrum with a complete vulnerability assessment by means of WarDriving and WarViewing. Following the vulnerability assessment, Robert Heron lighten things up a bit and heads Venice Beach, California to help the people with their HDTV and HD-DVD questions!
Next I (Yoshi) demonstrate how to extend the range of the wireless capabilities of the Sony PSP. This is a cool fun mod where I added a mc card connector to the PSP allowing it to use high gain external antenna. I wanted it to look like a factory installed part. I think I pulled it off tell me what you think. It was a lot of fun and helped the PSP's poor range greatly. Its not very expensive and not very complicated, if you want follow along. Just remember you will "VOID YOUR WARRANTY" , and it's not my fault if you break it.
Last but not least the FTS crew hooks up with Humphrey Cheung from "Tom's Hardware" to demonstrate "How to Crack a WEP Key in a Few Minutes".

Over the past twenty eight years Star Wars and its fans have sparked an amazing film, cultural and societal phenomenon, one that will be with us for quite some time. But it's not a matter of a film simply being popular and selling tickets. The Star Wars fans devotion goes much deeper than that. Many of them relate to the story as a part of their lives. We are not just talking about those willing to wait weeks and months in line to see the new movie, those that make elaborate fan films, or those that have full costumes made that they wear frequently. Many of these fans live their lives with Star Wars being a very big part of it. Some of them even practicing the “Jedi†religion.
Like a lot of you, Star Wars was one of the coolest things going when I was a kid. I got every SW toy I could get my hands on. I felt like I could be a Jedi. I used to be able to quote most any line from the movies. I used to have “light saber†battles with my friends, and by myself... These battles were with everything from sticks to the first “light saber†toys (which we broke almost immediately). If DV cameras and the Internet were around when I was a kid, I might have been just like the “StarWars kidâ€. I use Star Wars terminology daily without realizing it. When I was a kid I wanted a light saber more than anything... I'm not gonna lie... I still would like one. Does that make me a dork?...
In anticipation of the release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith, the From The Shadows crew took a trip to the "Star Wars Line" in Hollywood. There we met up with Aaron Mosny Master Sabersmith and Jedi knight.
In "From The Shadows: Box 2.0" the FTS crew gives you a glimpse of what it is like to be a Jedi. Join us as we bring you "Saberology".

Yay!! Tomorrow we have a doctor appointment to have an ultrasound, and find out the sex of our baby. So I go to check the video camera, since I'd like to get video of it.... Grrr the camera is fragged, I forgot about it... I knew it was broken too. Doh...
OK so I need to buy another small, inexpensive mini-DV cam, today. I'm going to want it around a lot when baby is born anyway, right... So I found a model that fit my budget ($700) and size needs. I wanted something almost palm sized but fairly high quality. I decided to try the Panasonic PV-GS150, from my research it seemed like a good thing to satisfy my needs.
I would normally order it online and get a much better deal, but time was not on my side. So I checked BestBuy's website and they listed it for $629 and said it was in stock at the store closest to me. OK I figured I'll bite the bullet and pay the convenience cost of not waiting.
When I got to the store the camera was marked at $664. I asked if I can get it at the same price it is listed at on their website. So the salesman told me if the website had it listed for $629 then they would give it to me for that price. Great... well it was until he goes to the same "public" URL I went to 20 minutes before and it was priced at $664. I was very confused, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe I was mistaken. However I didn't want to pay that price (it would have put me over my cap of $700 with tax), so I left.
When I got home I checked the price again and it was $629.... I cleared my cache to make sure it was the most recent version of the page, and it was. So needing the camera I paid $629 for it online and checked pick up in store ( the same one that was saying the camera was $664).
When I got to the store and picked up the camera, I asked the customer service person a few questions.
“Why was the price different, when I got to the store?†I asked
She said, “Maybe it was a web only price.â€
“OK thats fine†I said. “But why when your salesman went to the "bestbuy" website did it have a price different than the bestbuy website people outside this building see?â€
She said “I don't know why that would happenâ€. Then she added “but I have had a lot of people ask me that recently...â€
I commented, “This seems like an unethical business practice, to show someone a website, representing it as the same one I could visit from home. Only to have it have completely different information.â€
She shrugged her shoulders and said nothing to this comment.
Knowing that there was no way she was going to admit this behavior I left the store.
To me it seemed like the old bait and switch... am I wrong here?
Did I take this the wrong way? or Did I stumble on that BestBuy's little sleezy secret?

It was great fun doing the TWITcast yesterday!
Feels good to have the gang back together again.
Ive been off the radar for a bit so hears an update on what Ive been up to post TSS:
Its been wonderful! I had not taken a vacation in 4 years so I have been visiting a lot of friends and family, and basically unwinding.
As I said on the podcast. I am going to be married this summer, to a wonderful woman who has made me the happiest guy on earth. I am also going to be a father soon. I am looking forward to this a lot. I just wonder how long it will be before I can get the littel one modding...
My new website is coming along. I cant promise a launch date... but can say it will be sooner than later. You will notice that Yoshi.us has a new name and a matching url www.ModTimes.com.
Ive been working with some friends on a IPTV project.
From The Shadows We just finished shooting for our second episode which will be out very soon.
I am in the process of relocating. I was going to be moving to Dallas but recently decided to stay here in LA for a while longer. So I am looking for a place where I can have my workshop again. I have some mod ideas that I must do but am waiting until I have the space to do it.
Other than its same old thing. Voiding warranties, breaking traffic laws, and in general trying to live up to my motto "Stock Is Not An Option"
