The Crosby Cougars withstood a ferocious comeback attempt by the Nederland Bulldogs in the fourth quarter and advanced to the next round of the playoffs with a 35-29 victory last Saturday afternoon.

The Nederland Bulldogs and head coach Brian English made a major breakthrough in the 2008-09 basketball season, as they put together a 10-4 District 20-4A record which was good enough for a second place tie and their first playoff berth since 1993.

LUMBERTON — A tipped pass for a touchdown, a tipped pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown, muffed punts, fumbles and a lack offense left the Nederland Bulldogs and Lumberton Raiders in a 14-14 tie at the half.

The Nederland football team clinched a Class 4A playoff berth with a 31-21 victory over Lumberton.

NEDERLAND — Needing a win to keep its playoff hopes alive, Nederland came out swinging Friday night and held off visiting Vidor for a 22-20 win at Bulldog Stadium.
