Once again Mouse Computer are bringing out more laptops, this time it’s the new 15.6 inch MB-V800B laptop. The great thing about the Computex is that we get to see some of the cool that companies have been working on! Such as the new range of VAIO Pro Series ultrabooks from Sony, there are two models becoming available the Pro 11 (11.6 inch screen) and the Pro 13 (13.3 inch screen) both have aluminium and carbon fibre chassis and so they are light at 2.34 pound for the larger model. Both of these new ultrabook will be powered by the latest low voltage fourth generation Haswell version of the Intel Core processors going up to Core i7 with an integrated Intel HD 4400 Graphics card, which might be a disappointment for anyone thinking of playing games on this laptop.

Other features that we know about include the two fast connecting USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out, a 2-in-1 card reader, a combo headphone & microphone jack and battery that is said to last up to 13 hours, how that relates in the real world might be a different matter. It should be noted that there is no Ethernet port available so the buyer will be relying on the built in wireless LAN (802.11 b/g/n) for Internet access, it’s not that bad, but some people still like to hook up a cable when possible.

According to Pedro LaFarga, SVP of Sony VAIO & Networked Products Division, he said in the company press release;

By combining the power of Sony’s display, digital imaging and sound technology with new and innovative form factors, VAIO is offering a variety of new ways for consumers to interact with their PCs. The PC landscape is undergoing a tremendous amount of change and Sony VAIO is leading the transformation with new ultra-portable devices that enhance and enrich individuals’ lifestyles in both work efficiency and play.

When it comes to a gaming laptop, it normally stands to reason that it will be fully loaded with the latest features and powered by Intel, well MSI have not taken this route with the new GX60 laptop. This is a gaming laptop that is powered by the AMD range of processors, but that is not to say that its sub standard far from it in fact! The AMD A10 processor is well capable of providing the gamer with speed and performance, especially when coupled with the AMD Radeon graphics card and AMD Eyefinity technology.

Therefore, we now know that this is a gaming laptop with difference, what else does this version have to offer? It comes with the 15.6 inch screen with a full HD Anti-Reflective Display at 16:9 with a 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolutions. It is going to be running on the latest Windows 8 operating system and powered by the AMD A10-5750 processor, with support from the AMD Radeon HD 7970M 2GB GDDR5 graphics card and the AMD Eyefinity feature. There is a reasonable 8 GB of DDR3 1600MHz System Memory and a 750 GB (7200 RPM) hard disk drive (HDD) for storage purposes.

But even then the gamer may wish to take advantage of some of the options and upgrades that MSI offer. This means that the $1,300 can soon head upwards by two or three hundred dollars, yet even so it would still offer good value for money.
