Falcons running back Jerious Norwood practiced Friday for the second straight day after missing Atlanta's last four games with a hip flexor. The Falcons (5-4) hope Norwood, who is listed as questionable for Sunday, can help stabilize his position when they visit the New York Giants (5-4). "I've been working pretty much every day this week trying to get the (hip) back to normal,"...

Linebacker Curtis Lofton is sick of that sinking feeling when opponents convert another third down on the Atlanta Falcons. "It's a letdown because we put a lot of work into it," Lofton said Thursday. "When they get it, you know, everybody feels like they're letting each other down.

Michael Turner doesn't agree with speculation he could miss weeks with his sprained ankle. Turner said Wednesday he hasn't even given up on the idea he could return for the Atlanta Falcons' game at the New York Giants on Sunday. Turner injured his right ankle in last week's loss at Carolina.

The Falcons have dropped three of their last five games and everybody is wondering what happened to Matt "Matty Ice" Ryan.

He made a very un-ice like play against Carolina, throwing an interception with under 4:00 to play. Ice was supposed to remain cool, and take the Falcons down—at least for a field goal—in the 21-19 game.

But he threw his 10th interception over the last five games and his 12th of the season. He only threw 11 in 434 attempts last season. He's thrown the 12 this season while making 298 attempts.

"We evaluate Matt and all of our players' play," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. "We are always trying to give our guys nuggets that can help them play more efficiently.

Matt Ryan is struggling. Michael Turner is hurting. Jason Elam can't seem to make a field goal. Yep, the Falcons definitely have plenty of things to worry about as they head into a decisive stretch of the season. Atlanta (5-4) was down in the dumps Monday after a sloppy 28-19 loss at Carolina, knowing it had wasted an excellent chance to gain an upper hand in the NFC wild-card race.

Atlanta running back Michael Turner's hot start was derailed Sunday when he left in the second quarter with a sprained right ankle in the Falcons' 28-19 loss to Carolina. Coach Mike Smith said Turner will undergo tests Monday to determine if he'll be out an extended period. "I think we'll have a lot better idea when we get him back to Atlanta," Smith said.

Carolina Panthers' Richard Marshall(notes) (31) returns an interception against the Atlanta Falcons in the second half of the Panthers' 28-19 win in an NFL football game in Charlotte, N.C., Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009.

The Carolina Panthers might have finally found a way to solve Jake Delhomme's woes: controlled chaos. A heavy dose of miscues from Matt Ryan and banged-up Atlanta didn't hurt, either. The Panthers unleashed a no-huddle offense on Sunday with Delhomme calling the plays, and it produced two touchdown passes to Steve Smith, no turnovers and a 28-19 victory over the Falcons.
