While I am stunned by some of the fiber-related blasphemy perpetuated by this article - since when is knitting boring?! - it’s pretty neat. The Wind Knitting Machine makes one-of-a-kind scarves and looks like a fantastic stash-busting tool. Anyone have an extra we can borrow?

Because knitters are often geeks of the highest order, we’re never surprised (and are more often than not, thrilled) to see new apps in the iTunes App store. Ewe Stash is an ultra-intuitive and user-friendly application for the iPhone or touch iPods that helps you keep track of your stash. Ideal for those who perpetually [...]

This article contains everything I love in a knitting news items found in non-knitting publications. Cuteness coupled with genuine skill, a splash of nerd thrown in, plus by an expression of incredulous disbelief on behalf of the writer as to why knitters do what they do. To quote:
“Who knits meerkats? What do meerkats have to [...]

Absolutely amazing. A group of knitters from Kent, UK have spent the last twenty three years knitting a replica of their village. This story from the Daily Mail online includes tons of pictures of the original houses, plus comments for the awesomely sassy ladies. My favorite: “The lady who did the church knitted most of [...]

I’m currently in the midst of a granny square obsession, and I’m trying to pass it along to as many people as I can. I got one of my sisters hooked (ha!), have harassed most of my coworkers, and now I’m turning my fanatacism on y’all. How can you resist? This fabulous crochet necklace comes [...]

Though I doubt it’s effectiveness in preventing transmission of disease, this pattern was written in honor of the recent swine flu hysteria. I’m not sure if it’s super-hilarious or ultra-creepy! I think it’s a little bit of both.

This creature is actually 100% pig, but a very rare breed that grows curly fur. It’s making the rounds on the blogs thanks to this article, and was actually declared extinct in the UK as of 1972. At first I was slightly repulsed, but some of them are rather cute! I’m still making up my [...]

First of all, let me tell you Leslie Hall is my idol. She’s basically what a unicorn would be if a unicorn was a person, and everything she does glitters with magic and rhinestones and awesomeness. This video features some serious crafting and while I can’t in good conscious spoil the punchline by telling you [...]

These bizarre tech-sweaters popped up nearly a year ago, but have recently been making the rounds via office email forwards, and I wanted to share them with y’all! I get the feeling that they’re more fanciful than functional, but they’re certainly a hoot. Link via Gizmodo.

I’ve had a total crafter crush on Ms. Doherty since she was one of the first crafters to start making the Japanese-esque toys state-side. Her website, Gourmet Amigurumi, is endlessly inspring, and her book Amigurumi!: Super Happy Crochet Cute stands above the rest for it’s ambitious projects and detailed finishing. Needless to say, I was [...]

I downloaded this application to my iPod a week ago and have already used it a bazillion times. It measures gauge in inches and centimeters, and also features a tiny ruler for all those times you’ve left your tapes out of your notions bag (every time). This little thing is rocking my world, I [...]

At first I thought this profile was just another one of those slightly bothersome “Look, it’s a man who knits!” pieces, but it becomes totally endearing when you discover that he is 95 years old, and was at one time, a prize fighting boxer. Click here for the story, initially published in Northwest Arkensas News.

Ok, ok ok- I’d rather just tell you: “Watch this instantly regardless about your feelings towards sheep because it is the GREATEST THING EVER, IN GENERAL” but I know some of you need contextualization. This is a viral video Samsung ad that uses a hillside as a backdrop for highly organized sheep who make pictures. [...]

We just heard about this pattern booklette that is so adorable, I just had to share it with y’all. You can download it as a PDF and it features patterns for three different vehicles, all knit up in 4-ply cotton. So, so precious! The Vespa is totally our favorite. Visit designer Leah Sutton’s website for [...]

This is the highlight of my day. Never mind that it’s part of a generous and thoughtful initiative to take care of rescued chickens (see BBC report here), I’m just amazed that a. this chicken is WEARING A SWEATER, and b. there’s actually a reasonable use for fun fur.

Tanis had a rockin weekend with a trip out of town that she wanted to share with y’all. Thanks Tanis! She says:
This Valentine’s Day found my husband and I road tripping to Philadelphia in search of good food, yarn shops and possibly a cheese steak or two. The man is a good soul and [...]

I’m just going to come out and say it: I have a huge knit-crush on Jared Flood, aka brooklyntweed. This is not a romantic crush, as Tanis once claimed at a staff meeting making me blush for about three days straight, but his talent for both designing new knits and reinterpreting classic patterns is boundless. [...]

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to test out the new products that are featured in the magazine. Occasionally it becomes tedious - the needle-felting craze was NOT up my alley, let me tell you- but most of the time, it’s awesomely fun. We featured a Spunky Eclectic learn-to-spin kit in [...]
