“People change.”
After a long, long, long, long string of episodes that left me questioning my loyalty to the show, The Vampire Diaries finally offered up an episode that has everything I love: snappy dialogue, snapped necks, and characters acting in ways that make sense.

"We're not the same."
Lots of character growth and important team building in this episode. It is clear Oliver is changing, albeit slowly, but it's very cool to see.

“Some things you just don’t come back from.”
One of the greatest things about season two is how ambitious it’s been in pulling us out of the confines of Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest. Sometimes these ventures turn out really well (Henry and Emma take New York) and sometimes they’re a stinking pile of fairy poop (Frankenstein). This one lands somewhere in the middle.

"I guess I'll quit today."
This one seemed low key for the penultimate episode of the season. But I thought it was rather cool that, as we're nearing the end, a lot of the characters did some pretty good things.

After all the hype, after repeatedly telling us that this would be the most difficult challenge of Bo's life, that was it? That was the Dawning?
Well colour me disappointed.

Kenzi: "This is nature? The Discovery channel led me to believe there would be more green."
So this new Bo is just like old Bo, except with some blue eyed devil moments. Wait, that was old Bo, too. Hmmm, I guess the Dawning did nothing except make her technically more powerful. I kind of feel like that whole Dawning plot-line was kind of pointless now.

“You’re that serial killer, aren’t you?”
As far as narrative arcs go, this episode did a pretty good job—although I might be reading against the grain by making that argument. While Elena’s inhumanity is the ostensible focus of this episode, Damon’s shift from Son of Sam levels of terror to a man trapped on a roof, trying to do the right thing, is a fairly interesting journey.

Michonne: “You talk about the weight of what you have to do, how you can handle it. A bad man, someone truly evil, they’re light as a feather. They don’t feel a thing.”
This was another fabulous episode that explored what it means to be a good human being in the face of death and the end of all that we know. What is the good of surviving if it is all grubbing for survival and contributing to the death and destruction?

Ryan: “I am Fenton O’Connell.”I love Kevin Ryan. From the beginning, when he carried around copies of Castle’s books until he had read them all, he has shown himself to be a good cop, a good husband and a good friend. He is willing to make the hard choices when he knows them to be right, and he keeps secrets better than anyone else on the team. He has stood up for the underdog more than once. Kevin Ryan is a brave and honorable soul.

"Do we go to the same Greendale?"
Reviewing Community used to be fun. Even when I was handed difficult (in a good way) episodes like 'Remedial Chaos Theory' I was still able to enjoy myself. But this season reviewing the show has become a chore. Even the episodes that I liked (of which there have been precious few) were no fun to write about. It has gotten to the point where I am actually starting to dread new episodes. Especially when they turn out as badly as this one.

"Vaya Tostitos, Mexican Lassie."In this episode, set mainly in Mexico, Psych renews my faith in its worth, and, with that, my faith in all humanity. For if Psych ceases to be funny and entertaining, well, it's just like if someone took away all the ice cream or perhaps kept ice cream in existence, but made it so every flavor was brussel sprout. What would the point of living be? Let's get out of this paragraph while it still has some semblance of direction, shall we? Vamanos!

“You messed up and there was a price. Betrayal always has a price.”
I’m never that excited about standalone episodes of Scandal, even when they’re good. This episode had a lot to boast about. Olivitz moments, some Quick (Quinn + Huck) bonding, a reasonably detailed client storyline, Cyrus and Mellie battles, and a total OMG moment. Still, I felt it could’ve been better. Or perhaps I’m still bitter about the three week hiatus.

… in which Elizabeth and Phillip are tasked with finding and stopping a contract assassin hired by the KGB.“Mutually assured destruction” is the philosophy underlying the Cold War stalemate between the United States and the Soviet Union. The thinking was that if each country had nuclear weapons and the ability to use them, neither side would ever launch those weapons because the other would immediately respond in kind, resulting in mutually assured destruction. “That’s the whole point. Nobody wants to use them.” (A principle that would be completely undermined if the United States were to develop that ballistic missile shield everyone is so interested in.) The main idea underpinning this philosophy is that our love for and connections to our families and friends will keep us safe; as Sting once put it, “Believe me when I say to you, I hope the Russians love their children, too.”
