Amongst the blitz this week as we're preparing to roll out Blinksale, we also managed to squeeze out the new site design for Firewheel. It's better suited to our current needs, and should be quite a bit more manageable. It looks pretty decent too.

A couple days ago we launched the teaser site for our new product Blinksale. We're billing it as the easiest way to send invoices online. It may very well be the fastest and the most fun as well.

Or, learning how to plan for the future when you design a website for today. This is especially true when you design for a living, and find time to work on your projects in short supply.

In case you missed it, the folks behind the design-community t-shirt site Threadless have launched Naked & Angry, a new site aimed at high-end fashion design. Like Threadless, designers can submit artwork for consideration by their peers, and the highest scoring designs (in this case, patterns or textiles) will be used on fashion items like ties, home accessories, and more.

Or, how I learned that change is inevitable and you'd better learn to roll with it. The year is 2005, and somebody moved my cheese... and my software... and now my processor.

I get asked all the time what tools we use at Firewheel to design our icons. The range of software products is broad, but in the end, the core tools are not that different from what most designers use every day. Without further ado, here are the primary applications we use to make the pixels fall where they're supposed to.

She's a work in progress, but the re-design is coming along. There are some holes here and there, and the changes are rolling in quite often right now. If you refresh in 30 minutes, chances are the background image will have changed. Again.

As usual, it has been far too long since an update has appeared here at Yellowlane, and as always, there are many reasons for this (some believable, some lame).
