We anticipate adding the scenarios from Paratrooper and possibly some other out of print gems to Yanks the same way we did with For King and Country and Beyond Valor.Date: Saturday, 25 Jul 2009 15:43

Just spotted this on ConSimWorld (posted by Chas Argent yesterday):The ball has been rolling for some time on the MMP version of the full PTO package. This will combine all the counters, scenarios, boards, overlays and rules which originally appeared in Code of Bushido and Gung Ho, in addition to extra scenarios. Here is the current status of the project:
1) Dave Childs & Keith Dalton are almost done with the counter sheets; Dave is re-doing all the images, feeding them to Keith to make counters, then Dave is taking the counters and creating the final sheets. Pain in the ass.
2) Dave is re-flowing chapter G to match the "new" official layout, and is inserting new board and overlay art. Once this step is done Chapter G will need extensive proofing.
3) Chapter H (Japanese, Chinese, and Landing Craft) will be complete as soon as Keith can get the remaining counter images to Dave and Dave can insert them. Then it's off to proofing for this as well.
4) The 5 map boards (34-39) have been painted by Kurt Miller and are done and ready for proofing.
5) The Overlays are almost done, though we still need the Gavutu-Tanambogo overlays to be painted by Kurt since it's been decided to include that in the package. All will be proofed when complete.
6) Perry and I are working with a group of players on scenario selection above and beyond the original CoB/GH 16. We will also be working on incorporating errata and Balance adjustments for those which need help. All of these will need to be laid out though Dave has already done most of the original 16. There is no final number yet set for the package, but I'd guess we're headed for 30 scenarios total (since we already have 19, including G-T ). Could be more or less, however. The balance will be made of up of out-of-print scenarios which fit the package.

For those who aren't aware, Gavutu-Tanambogo - ASL Annual 93b Historical Module was originally printed in ASL Annual '93b. It's a nice little package, and it's great to see it scheduled to be back in print.

I finally got my Code of Bushido to the table with a great scenario against the ANZACs from West Of Alamein ( hence the 500 dollar tagline!)Im not sure if we did everything correct , but the Japanese have a really different feeling inthe game, and their step loss mechanic and bonuses for H2H really make the games incredibly exciting and dynamic, I dont think Ive ever had that many residual firepower counters on the map at the same time, I think we had 9 or 10 and I only had 4 stacks to shoot with
Now I need to do some studying to see if what we did was the right way of doing it , banzai charges, massive melees and leaders that keep on going and going!

When I bought them at the store I remember thinking the large box was pretty cool
.
The large boxes are cool but they're a pain if you want to trade one of them. The shipping cost is higher and it's more difficult to find a suitable box.:p

The new edition of Doomed Batallions will include everything that was in The Last Huarrah, units, maps, and scenarios. The second edition, which is what you'll get if you get it second hand, includes the units from TLH, but not the maps or scenarios.Date: Friday, 03 Jul 2009 16:01

If MMP is telling the truth on the web page, everything - maps, counters and scenarios - included in Last Hurrah will be included in Doomed Battalions. The only difference will be the LH mapboards are probably the old style mounted ones.Date: Friday, 03 Jul 2009 13:29
Just wondering cause I found a copy of this available. If Doomed Battalions makes this obsolete though I'll skip it. I need to save money and this game isn't helping

It's basically the same AH box footprint they have used for "flatbox" releases (vs. "bookcase" type) since the 1960s -- so it's not new for them. All the AH HASLs and DASLs are in this type of box.
The newest MMP ones (like VOTG) are switching to another size.

Actually, Valor of the Guards - ASL Historical Module Number 7 is in the standard MMP "bookcase size" box, as are Operation: Watchtower - ASL Historical Study 1 and Operation Veritable Historical Study - ASL Historical Study 2. As was mentioned, a few of the past HASL modules were in the larger flat boxes (also including Tarawa). I'm not sure why the larger boxes were used, maybe to differentiate the product on shelves. When I bought them at the store I remember thinking the large box was pretty cool. The maps may have been folded differently and required a larger box, I should compare them when I have a chance. Oops, sorry for the duplicate post. Was on the phone and in the middle of typing so I didn't see skippen's post.

Hi Jason,
Red Barricades, KGP I and II and Pegasus Bridge were all in these box formats. It may have had to do with how the maps were done/folded for these big games more than anything else. Hedgerow Hell and Streets of fire (the Deluxe ASL modules) were also in these formats do to the boards being larger.

I'm new to ASL, and I'm picking up pieces where available as I get into the game. Last week, I ordered Partisans and Pegasus Bridge from MMP to take advantage of their closeout prices on the two games. I opened the old Avalon Hill shipping box they shipped the games to me in to find one of the oddest choices for box format/size I've seen.Looking at all the the pictures in various locations on the web this APPEARED to me to be a more or less standard bookcase box. Instead, it is almost like a large poster. Much taller and wider than I expected but very shallow. Is it fair to assume that all of the HASL's (except the newer Valor of the Guards) are packaged like this? Are the two DASL modules in similar boxes?
Anyone know if there's a reason AH went with such an odd box size? Maybe a dominating FLGS shelf presence?
