Financial Engineer Position Summary: Moody's KMV has a group of highly qualified professionals who design, implement, and maintain financial calculation components used in Moody?s KMV?s products company wide. These range from internal production systems to desktop, intranet, and Internet products We are looking for a person who would take responsibility for maintenance and enhancement of Moody?s KMV's analytic calculation software components as well as contributions to the design and implementation of Moody?s KMV's future analytic products. The position includes collaboration with analytic and research groups in finding optimal algorithm designs for products. The Moody?s KMV environment consists of strong financial mathematical and financial econometric research, strong software development, global diversity (California, Indiana, New York, UK, China, Japan) as well as a large traveling sales and marketing workforce. Each of these environments creates unique challenges for information delivery, customer service, product development and systems administration. Specific Job Functions ? Work with analytic and research groups to understand business and product requirements, and convert those requirements into product development and enhancement projects. ? Design and implement Moody?s KMV model components used to assess credit risk. ? Design use cases for each component built and help QA perform overall component testing (including business logic and software performance). ? Document, and help the component users (other software developers) understand, the analytic component interfaces and usage. Job Requirements ? 3 years experience as an object-oriented programmer. Very strong object-oriented design and C++ / C# development skills are required. ? Strong SAS programming skill. ? An understanding of basic relational database concepts, Java, Java JNI interface, FORTRAN, Visual Basic and Matlab. ? Hard working, easy to work with, and a fast learner of new technologies. ? A master degree in a quantitative field such as finance, statistics, mathematics, or physics required while a PhD is greatly preferred. The person must have a good understanding of financial theory such as fixed income and credit risk. ? Strong written and spoken English language skills.
