I've uploaded some more Baxter albums to the Les Baxter blog and found some links to some more albums. I've put them in the list of albums in the sidebar so check there to fill in your Baxter collection. The Capitol collection (pre 1962) is looking pretty good with most essential albums there and only a few more albums to upload and find.

One commenter in the Requests section has newly discovered exotica and asked me to provide my 20 starter songs to sort of get them introduced to this genre. This of course is an almost impossible task as it would be hard enough just to pick say the best 20 of Les Baxter who is just one artist.I'm going to give it a go but I think somehow it will have a few more songs than 20.Anyhow in the

I've got a couple of Shawn Lee's albums and this multi instrumentalist is the funky off spring of such library music greats as Brian Bennett and Alan Hawkshaw. I've now found a great selection of albums by him I didn't have and I've been busily giving them a listen. The above album is perhaps the pick of the bunch with one track had me looking to see if the player hadn't switched to a funky Ramsey

Took some nice photos on a Buderim bushwalk the other day. Its only a 10 minute drive from where I am and the creek running down the hill flows into the Maroochy River and is nice and full after recent rains. The rain forest is beautifully preserved but the suburbs encroach on all sides and there's pressure by wealthy people to build on the hillside with its magnificent views of the Sunshine Coast

Not a Teutonic finishing school its a style of electronic music using mainly analog mainframe synths like the Moog Modular together with early sequencers and then the warm melodic sounds of guitars, keyboards and sound effects to humanise the sound. It was started in the 70s by pioneers such as Klaus Schultze and most famously Tangerine Dream. Later proponents like Redshift and Ian Boddy keep the

Another stellar set I picked up when I used to be a regular at the bargain bins of music shops. This one is a 3Cd set of 60s and 70s band leader maestro Tony Hatch who mentored such acts as Petula Clark and the Searchers and had a handy number of albums in his own right. Each disc concentrates on a different aspect of Tony's career: easy listening guru, hitmaker for various vocal acts and hip TV

I was thinking of maybe highlighting some old posts to see if any newer visitors might be interested in them. I could start with some of the most popular ones and then follow up with some less popular albums.Anyhow I came across this album and it only has 2 downloads so far. I have a feeling I was going to share it but someone beat me to it. Anyway I thought I would post it anyway as any Les
