Move required to accommodate accelerated growth in Silicon Valley and growing adoption of Social Business Software

Portland, OR and Palo Alto, CA - November 17, 2009

Company News

  • Jive, the Social Business Software leader, today announced the opening of its new Bay Area office at 735 Emerson Street in Palo Alto.  The move reflects Jive's dramatic growth and increasing focus in the Bay Area at a time when the company is experiencing the greatest momentum in its history.
  • Jive moved to this larger office space after outgrowing its previous Palo Alto space in just four months. While the first Bay Area employee joined on June 1, 2009, Jive anticipates that 15-20% of its staff will be based in Palo Alto by the end of 2009. In addition, several Jive executives, including CEO Dave Hersh, now work from the Palo Alto office.
  • Jive is currently hiring aggressively in the Bay Area, with several open positions in engineering, product management, professional services and marketing.
  • The move comes at a time when Jive continues to achieve record growth -- with Q3 of 2009 growing more than 100% as compared to Q3 of 2008 - and follows news of the company's largest-ever product launch, receiving $12M in Series B funding from Sequoia, and being positioned in the Leaders Quadrant of Gartner's " Magic Quadrant for Social Software in the Workplace."
  • Jive is celebrating the new office by holding an Open House for customers, prospects, prospective employees, partners, press and analysts on Thursday, November 19, from 4pm-7pm at 735 Emerson Street in Palo Alto. Hors d'oeuvres will be served along with an open bar.  RSVP at events@jivesoftware.com.

Commentary

  • "We have a goal to make Jive a fixture in the Bay Area technology scene, and we are searching for top-notch talent here who thrive on innovation and will help us meet our aggressive growth goals," said Dave Hersh, CEO of Jive. "Expanding our presence in the Silicon Valley is incredibly important given how many customers we have here, the deep talent pool, and all of our current and potential partners that help drive the Social Business Software market."

PORTLAND, OR, Nov. 16, 2009

News

  • Jive, the Social Business Software leader, announced that The Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) is piloting the use of Jive to extend outreach and deepen engagement with external partners in government agencies, international organisations, civil society and other institutions with help from Jive Social Business Software.
  • OECD, one of the world's largest and most reliable sources of economic and social analysis and data, provides a forum in which governments compare policy experiences, seek answers to common problems, identify good practice and coordinate domestic and international policies.
  • OECD relies heavily on consultation and collaboration with external partners, and has a number of systems to support information/data sharing and discussion forums. Much interaction however still takes place via e-mail.
  • Recognizing the need to update its external collaboration portfolio, OECD performed a review of the latest in collaboration technologies and chose Jive Social Business Software. Using Jive, OECD implemented an external community to support both informal information sharing and collaboration with its partner groups as well as more formal discussions.

Jive Commentary

  • "Many of our internal staff and external partners were demanding an easy to use, effective tool to aid in the consultation and collaborative process," said Chris Daniel, Analyst at OECD. "Some users had already begun experimenting with free software available on the web."
  • "We wanted to provide a space where partners and staff can easily engage with one another," mentioned Chris. "Jive allows us to provide both secure private spaces as well as more open spaces where participants can find, discover and interact with one another, and share their findings, research and analysis."
  • "In both the private and public arenas, we are seeing a growing demand for effective collaboration with third parties for research, contract work or established partnerships," said Dave Hersh, CEO, Jive Software. "Jive SBS uniquely supports these activities by providing an intuitive interface that minimizes the need for formal training and promotes open conversations and rapid adoption."

As of today 55% of all Swiss Re employees have logged in at least once, and they are seeing a steady increase in creation and viewing of content. There are currently 347 groups created for collaboration on business topics with both global and local themes. The participation is cross-functional and comes from all regions and countries. They had used data from an existing internal user directory, called "Who is", as a starting point and IT had been amongst the first regular users, but eventually they've even got their account managers involved.

Jive Social Business Software Awards Recognize Six Outstanding Customers

Portland, OR - October 29, 2009

Company News

  • Jive, the Social Business Software leader, today announced its first Annual Jive Social Business Software (SBS) Awards at JiveWorld09.  Six customers: United Business Media (UBM), NIKE Inc., National Journal Group, CSC, Kaiser Permanente, and Swiss Re were awarded for their outstanding achievements exemplifying the business outcomes that Social Business Software can generate.  The award categories included Business Impact, Community Innovation, Community Adoption, User Experience and the Social Business Software Champion Award.
  • Business Impact - UBM was selected for its community deployment of Jive SBS, and its role in the strategic vision of the company.  UBM's wiki platform has the support and attention of the company's senior leadership.  Within the first year of deploying the UBM wiki, its community has grown to over 5,000 users, working in 35 countries.  UBM's wiki users have created around 25,000 pages and generated around 3 million page views - delivering significant efficiencies, cost reductions and revenue increases to the organization.
  • User Experience - NIKE Inc. was selected for its innovative use of Jive to better connect its global network of marketers with the digital assets they need to drive the brand forward.  Although NIKE has a sophisticated Content Management System (CMS) in place, it was difficult to navigate for marketers who weren't yet trained on the CMS application.  By using Jive as a social layer above the CMS, NIKE marketers around the world can quickly access and share approved media assets in a single location.
  • Community Innovation - National Journal Group, the leading source of nonpartisan reporting on the current political environment and emerging policy trends, was selected for its ground breaking "3121" platform, powered by Jive.  3121 - which combines a dynamic directory, collaboration tools and customizable news feeds - is the first professional networking tool designed exclusively for members of Congress and their staff.
  • Community Adoption - CSC, a global leader in  providing technology-enabled solutions and services, was selected for the launch  of its internal community "C3: Connect. Communicate. Collaborate."  Through the  tenacity, credibility and trustworthiness of those involved, the CSC team  secured a phenomenal level of executive endorsement from the onset and  established a clear linkage between its "enterprise 2.0" initiatives to the  company's core business strategic objectives. Through enabling a strong global  advocate network and allowing collaboration patterns to emerge, C3 enjoyed viral  success in only 20 weeks, achieving 25,000 registered users, over 2000 new  groups and generating over 1 million page views a month.
  • Social Business Software Champion(s) - Two winners were selected in this category: Kaiser Permanente and Swiss Re.
    • Kaiser Permanente's IdeaBook, powered by Jive, is an internal online community aimed at capitalizing on the strength of its 165,000 employees and 14,000 physicians by facilitating knowledge sharing and increasing collaboration and productivity. IdeaBook's rising adoption among employees -- it's adding more than 2,000 users per month -- has been made possible by the efforts of a dedicated and thoughtful communication and technology planning team, key leader participation and advocacy efforts such as real life case studies and user anecdotes.
    • Swiss Re operates in more than 20 countries and provides its expertise and services as an reinsurer for property and casualty as well as life and health business. Traditional reinsurance products are complemented by insurance-based corporate finance solutions.  Swiss Re took a community centric approach to collaboration and provided a business platform for virtual teams, expert networks, projects, learning groups and other communities. More than 10,000 employees got access to the tool and within two weeks after the launch, more than 130 new groups were created.

Commentary

  • David Levin, United Business Media Limited, Chief Executive Officer said, "The social media movement is important to UBM and to many of our customers. UBM runs the Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0 events that showcase the transformative power of social media. Social media technology is also at the heart of how UBM's business operates. We are fusing social media with most of our live events as well as building virtual environments and communities on social media platforms. Internally the UBM wiki is now a key resource that helps more than 5,000 of our people, working in our 15 businesses in more than 30 countries: 'Connect, Communicate and Collaborate' is the tagline we have adopted for the UBM wiki."
  • "We continue to be inspired by the work our customers are doing," said Dave Hersh, CEO of Jive Software.  "Their creativity, enthusiasm and partnership is the cornerstone of our success as a company."

Jive Bridging socializes activities from public sites to keep enterprises in tune with the relationships that most directly impact their business

Portland, OR - October 28, 2009

Company News

  • Jive, the Social Business Software leader, today announced an enhanced version of the Jive Bridging Module in Jive Social Business Software (SBS) 4.0. Going well beyond what others define as Social CRM, Jive Bridging enables companies to foster internal dialogue around customer and partner community conversations, making it easier to engage in these conversations directly.
  • With Jive Bridging, employees can now easily pull high-impact conversations that take place in any of their public Jive communities - such as recurring customer issues or channel partner needs - into the private Jive employee community for internal discussion behind the firewall and seamlessly push thoughtful responses back. Jive Bridging addresses the needs of several lines of business:
    • Marketing and sales teams gain insight into customers and channel partners, quickly address concerns or opportunities, identify key trends, make prospects visible to sales, and promote customer successes.
    • Innovation teams have an around-the-clock venue for collecting, sharing, discussing and taking action on ideas and feedback while eliminating the "black box" feeling that customers, partners, and suppliers often have when submitting ideas.
    • Support teams can improve customer service levels by bringing broad internal visibility to questions exposed in the public community. With Jive Bridging they can quickly escalate, discuss, and address issues and concerns and publish the best response to the community in a single click.

Market Perspective

  • Public communities have become a critical component of an enterprise's social networking strategies to encourage conversations and interactions among customers, prospective customers, partners, and suppliers. These communities represent a wealth of information about the needs, issues, and goals of these constituents, but most enterprises don't have the right tools in place to fully understand or take advantage of what is happening on these sites. As online communities proliferate, customer service, marketing, and product teams need a way to not only monitor these sites but also participate in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Unlike the limitations of competitive solutions, Jive Bridging provides an interactive window from an enterprise's Jive employee community into their public Jive communities to monitor and influence the conversations taking place there and to streamline the process for broadcasting observations and coordinating responses.

Product Highlights

  • With Jive Bridging, users can have a centralized view of people, content, and activity on public communities and sub-communities, including posts, discussion threads, and blogs. On their personalized homepage, users can:
    • add widgets, such as Recent Content, "follow" or friend specific people, and bookmark specific content from the community they are following;
    • pull conversations from the public community into the employee community and notify groups and specific individuals of community observations;
    • easily post all or part of the employee discussion back within the initial public community;
    • use community dialogue as a guideline to improve service, drive innovation, and foster customer loyalty.

Jive Commentary

  • "The true value of Social Business Software lies in connecting all of the audiences that make up an extended enterprise - employees, customers, prospective customers, suppliers, and partners," said Chris Morace, Senior Vice President of Products at Jive Software.  "Jive Bridging delivers the insight into key conversations and breaks down the barriers for enterprises to participate in a truly authentic dialogue that improves service, drives innovation, and fosters customer loyalty."
  • "The promise of communities - both internal and external - has always been to truly facilitate conversation, collaboration and interaction," said Claire Flanagan, Senior Manager for KM and Enterprise Social Collaboration for CSC.  "Jive Bridging delivers on this promise by allowing businesses to have a clear window into an enterprise's extended client or partner communities and by providing an integrated way to collaborate internally on important topics raised in these communities."

Product Availability

  • Jive Bridging is generally available as an add-on module to Jive SBS 4.0.

Jive Extends its Social Layer Deep into the Enterprise, Wide Across the Firewall, and Out into the Marketplace

Portland, OR - October 28, 2009

Company News

  • Jive, the Social Business Software leader, today announced the general availability of Jive Social Business Software (SBS) 4.0.  The new offering is the largest, most ambitious release Jive Software has brought to market since the company first introduced its integrated SBS platform for enterprises.
  • Jive SBS 4.0 enables organizations to extend SBS across every level of an enterprise to literally transform how people work, partner, and address the marketplace. The enhancements and new capabilities in Jive SBS 4.0 reflect the increasing transparency between users' work and social networking habits - and amplify the strategic advantages inherent in bringing those worlds together. With SBS 4.0, Jive extends SBS further out into the marketplace, deep into the enterprise, wide across the firewall, and out on the road.

Product Highlights:

  • Jive Mobile for the iPhone and Blackberry - This new module allows users to create content and participate in active discussions from the iPhone and/or Blackberry, or any mobile or desktop device with access to email.  The native iPhone application offers a rich experience, giving users full access to Jive SBS functionality in addition to leveraging the unique properties of the iPhone, including integration with your mobile contacts and increased relevancy around location and data syncing. For more information, please see the Jive Mobile press release below:
  • Jive Bridging Module - Enterprises need to act more responsive and generate more insight and value from their online customer and partner communities. But these peer-to-peer interactions, both internally and externally, have been historically limited by existing solutions. Jive has added significant enhancements to its Bridging module to let employees capture relevant conversations taking place in their public communities, share them internally, collect and consolidate responses, and go back out across the firewall to post a response. Moving beyond the monitoring or collaboration status quo, Jive Bridging in Jive SBS 4.0 lets users sustain a continuous, bidirectional dialogue with the people around whom their business is centered.
  • Jive Connects for Microsoft Office - The Jive Microsoft Office Connector enables Jive SBS 4.0 users to work on any Microsoft Office document, spreadsheet or presentation in Jive or on their desktop. When users create and save Office content on their desktop it is automatically published to Jive where the content is rendered for viewing and commenting directly from the browser. Additionally, users can view and reply to comments made in the browser directly from the plug-in in Microsoft Office. The Jive Microsoft Office Connector further improves team productivity by enabling document co-authoring, allowing multiple contributors to make comments and changes to an Office file simultaneously with automatic synchronization of each other's changes. For example, one user can work on the graphics of a PowerPoint presentation while another is working on the script and see changes in the file as they happen. The Jive Microsoft Office Connector also eliminates reliance on email to share and review content by making it easy for any authorized user to access every saved document.
  • Jive Analytics Module - The Jive Analytics Module provides a powerful set of tools for community managers to quickly quantify and characterize the growth and success of their communities. A comprehensive set of key community activity reports is presented via the analytics console, including reports on adoption, participation, and top content, spaces, groups and users.  The reports also serve as templates than can easily be customized through an intuitive interface to meet the specific measurement needs of individual customers and specific business questions.  Jive Analytics extends the comprehensive data warehouse of end-user activity captured by the Jive SBS platform. This rich collection of data gives community managers and business users significant visibility into community dynamics.
  • Jive SBS Foundational Improvements:  As users networking and collaboration needs have evolved, Jive has continued to lead the market in developing enterprise-level capabilities to drive broad SBS adoption. Jive SBS 4.0 takes that commitment one step further, adding several enhancements to the core Jive SBS functionality that address evolving enterprise-wide SBS usability, scalability, security and privacy requirements. Some of those enhancements include:
    • Improved content organization and presentation capabilities enhance the entire experience for creating, discovering and sharing information within Jive SBS. This in turn accelerates content creation and allows people to easily identify and respond to critical business issues.
    • A streamlined new user experience improves community adoption rates and reduces the need for new user training while speeding their use of new and hidden features within Jive SBS.
    • Performance, administration, and scalability improvements assure a quality experience for all users, which contribute to community adoption and growth while providing administrators with the tools required to maintain and improve a global community.
    • To learn more about these enhancements, go to http://www.jivesoftware.com/products/whats-new.

Jive Commentary

  • "With Jive SBS 4.0, we are introducing our most ambitious set of innovations since the product's inception in 2006," said Dave Hersh, CEO of Jive Software.  "This is primarily in response to a tremendous hunger in the market for a Social Business Software solution that goes deeper into their work lives."
  • "We are truly experiencing a second wave of adoption," Hersh added.  "For the past few years, many companies watched from the sidelines to see how this space would play out.  Now, it is undeniable - the business value is there, the demand from customers, employees and partners is there, and with Jive SBS 4.0, the solutions meet the needs of even the most complex and sophisticated global enterprise."
  • "To convince some of our key leaders to adopt Jive, we needed to show them some powerful features that would significantly improve the way they work," said Jennifer Bouani, Manager of Interactive Communications at Manheim, the world's largest auto reseller.  "With Microsoft Office and SharePoint integrations, we have exactly what we need.  The new analytics offerings allow us to effectively measure our approach to community-building and communications to ensure we meet our business goals."
  • "Jive's new SBS 4.0 shows what a high performance workplace really looks like," said Andrew Easton, Head of Architecture of Bupa, a leading health and care company with 52,000 employees and over 10 million customers in more than 190 countries.  "Solutions from Jive are helping bridge the gap between the old way of communicating and collaborating via email ping-pong and time consuming version control and the growing demand for multiple people with different skills to jointly work together in seamless, user friendly, and powerful way."
  • "At K12, we understand the value of connecting people," said Dianne Conley, VP of Marketing Systems for K12, the leader in online learning for grades K through 12.  "Jive is taking an already powerful social business platform to a new level with the Jive SBS 4.0 release, bringing the best of social media monitoring, a deep Microsoft Office integration, and a better way to connect with our customers."
