Just got back from a trip.
This day was pretty overcast. Not so much color was around during sunset time, but a few rays did show up after the sun dived behind the sea. I hooked up a a few filters and created my own mood.
.... and oh yeah, those are my slippers! it did take me a few tries to get it right. Stupid waves kept coming and moving my slippers during long exposure :-) hehe

This woman's husband was away for months receiving treatment for MDR-Tuberculosis. She talked to us about the experience, and how she managed to earn a living to feed herself and her little daughter in this very remote suburban village outside of Halab, Syria.

Chest Diseases Facility in Islamabad, Pakistan
White tiles, white coats, white papers and files, and one red table cloth all lit beautifully from a small window. I couldn't resist. I got up on one of the chairs, called this medical officer to look me in the eye and took this shot.

The daughter takes care of her ill mother in this Karachi tuberculosis facility, a wonder high-tech hospital with a lovely garden. I took this low-angeled shot as we talked to this family about their struggle with TB and life after treatment.

He asked me what I was doing.
I told him "I want to take your picture and hear your story."
"It's not my story!", he said. "I am just one of many."

One of the brothers in this family caught MDR-Tuberculosis and passed it to the remaining members of the group. I visited them last November to document their story. It was really sad. The boy was fired from his job due to his illness, and they were struggling to make a living. The five people pictured here, along with two others, live in this very very small room in the suburbs of Cairo, Egypt.

This very photogenic old man was quite important in his community once. He used to be one of Egyptian Presedint's, Mr. Hosni Mubarak, very own advisors. He is now battling with MDR-Tuberculosis. I met him last November at his small apartment in Shobra, just outside of central Cairo.

*I haven't been around at all for a very long time now. Actually, I have just recently got married. Well, when I say recently, I mean a few months back. I am a happy man now with a big smile on my face :-)

It was incredibly fun photographing this group of kids. I certainly enjoyed it a lot, and from the look of things, they did too. ;-)

Obviously, I've played a bit with the local contrasts on this one, simple because I took it without flash, and the position of the subject in the natural light wasn't adequate. It was taken outside a chest TB clinic in Islamabad, Pakistan.

I was required not only to take pictures of TB patients, but also of Healthcare facilities that deal with TB.
Unfortunatley I lost my notes for this shot. All I could remember is that this tube contains TB Bacteria, and there are literally tens if not hundreds of those placed into fridge-like machines, and they are color coded. I could also tell you this shot was taken in a Tuberculosis speciliazed laboratory, which was part of National Tuberculsis Program of Jordan.
