Hi,

I am new to K-Meleon. I am loving its lightness and fastness.
But there are some problems I am running into. So one of them I am reporting here which I think is a bug.

K-Meleon does not display hindi fonts correctly.

Here I have used a link for example

[apnakahaniblog.blogspot.com]

Incorrect Display on K-Meleon

Correct Dispaly on IE8 of the same page

Hi,

I got downlaod problems on K-Meleon Browser.
Ordering K-Meleon where to place my download to it always tells me the download could not be saved.
I have several times changed my properties in order to get the K-Meleon worked correctly but I didn't succeed.
So could you tell me what to do further on?

Greetings Dieter

Has anyone experience with K-Meleon not being able to access EBSCOhost databases? We use KM on our public OPACs, and while it can access all of our other databases, it cannot open most of the EBSCOhost dbs, giving XML parsing errors instead (mismatched tag and duplicate attributes). I've tried entering the db URLs in the configuration menu as many different ways as possible. We've also tried updating KM to the most recent version, but this has not made a difference. I also opened a ticket with EBSCOhost technical help.

If anyone has troubleshooting tips on this I appreciate it.

(I'm sorry, I probably should have put this in general topics).

Hi,

This sounds rather strange and not sure what is the sequence in which this happens or happened.

Initially it was working perfect. After a day whenever I open a new tab and enter the letter "w" as for "www", the kmeleon crashes. I tried other letters in keyboard but nothing happened, only with the letter "w". I use a german keyboard, but that should not be the problem
But this happened twice. In the first installation I had installed some additional skins. So guesssed it to be the reason. So I uninstalled and then reinstalled, Again the second day the same haoppened. this time no additional plugin / skins were installed.

I will try to get more information if it happens again.

Best Regards,
Refai

I have just noticed that I can't copy & paste text from a webpage into either of my email text boxes (Gmail & Yahoo!). When I right click in the text field I get the 'Back/Forward/Stop/Reload' dialogue box instead. Other browsers work fine. It is only a minor glitch but I have no idea why this is happening. :(

A week or two ago I came across a link that crashed the browser. Error message and on OK the browser closes itself. I saved the bookmark and moved on.
But now today the same thing happened on another site! So this is really becoming weird, I'm not used to crashes any more since the 1.5.x versions. After much testing I now suspect strongly it has to do with the gecko update to 1.8.1.23... Perhaps anyone can figure out more?

I can visit [news.com] ( [news.cnet.com] ) and reliably crash K-Meleon (1.5.3) about once in every dozen page views anywhere on the site. I have found no common cause in the crashes but I suspect it could be ad related due the intermittant nature. It's always "K-MELEONW9X caused an invalid page fault in module GKLAYOUT.DLL". It doesn't seem to matter what is enabled or disabled. K-Meleon is stock, and there is no interfering 3rd party software on my (Win98) PC.

That said, anyone is welcome to try to crash their browser too, but frankly I don't care about the issue specifically. In my week with K-Meleon I've experienced so many catastrophic failures and spent so much time finding workarounds that I'm just tired and expect such things will continue to happen. I haven't gone many places yet but I've already stumbled across two sites that would fatally freeze my screen (as described on page three of the sticky Crash Report Thread), and now the page fault crashes I just described (not to mention having to find workarounds to get yahoo mail to work properly on my terms). The possibility is strong that my old PC/OS/Install presents a great platform for K-M failure, so I'm not really complaining about the browser itself, on the contrary I've mostly been extolling it's virtues, all the while bashing my head against it failures and convoluted nature.

What I really want to know is, is there a way to stop K-Meleon from deleting my cache after a crash?

I suspect not, I haven't found anything in that regard. The thing is, I'm on a slow dialup connection (that is not a redundant statement) and an avid offline browser, especially when doing days of research. I dislike the way the browser history is handled, being slim on features (a lack of search, and the extension I tried didn't seem to work properly either), but so be it, I may be able to live with such limitations or be able to improve the situation in the future. But having my carefully hoarded cache destroyed for what seems to be no good reason is stupid. I have now set up a macro to trigger on browser startup that will create an incremental backup of my whole profile folder, but the fact that I needed to do this on top of everything else borders on ridiculous.

To summarize:
News.com reliably crashes the browser, check it out if you like.
And, is there any way to stop K-Meleon from trashing my cache after a crash?

On an unrelated note, if I type %date% into the pop-up search box the google results show the first three characters (%d) transformed into some kind of accented U.

K-Meleon 1.5.2

Album page

The 12th thumbnail in this album is not rendering nor is it's shadowbox.

Screenshot

It renders fine in IE8.

I'm confused.

This one is driving me more than a little crazy. I'm browsing away and in the background, an ad will pop up unnoticed, so when I close the browser the last thing I close is that ad and usually , it is smaller than a full-sized webpage. When I restart KM, the browser opens up with that smaller sized window.

How do I change this so that when I reopen KM, I get my regular sized window?

Tks.

I'm using K-Meleon 1.5.3 spanish on windows XP:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; es-ES; rv:1.8.1.21) Gecko/20090331 K-Meleon/1.5.3

My problem is tab navigation. I use default mouse accelerator, and the problem is tabs get closed aleatory. When you open a new tab (left clicking a link) a left click on the new tab is supposed to just take it to foreground (active tab) while a middle click is supposed to close the tab. Well, sometimes a left click closes the tab, sometimes this is just after closing another tab pressing middle click and sometimes is a direct left click (not preceded by a previous middle click)

what I mean is something like this:

[ one tab ]

open link in new tab (left click on link)

[ one tab ] [ second ]

new tab left clicking a link again

[ one tab ] [ second ] [ third ]

now middle click on third tab, so it get closed (right behaviour)

[ one tab ] [ second ]

now left click on "tab one" just to make it active tab, but it get closed!

[ second ]

Another scenary, sometimes this behaviour simply occurs when first left click:

[ one tab ]

open link in new tab (right click on link and select "open new tab in backgroud" in popup menu)

[ one tab ] [ second ]

now left click on tab one just to make it active tab, but it get closed!

[ second ]

this behaviour is so weird and faulty!!!

I've also checked firefox mouse accelarator mode, this way the behaviour previosly discused seems to happen less times but it still happens. And another weirdy behaviur arises: in this mode when I middle click on a link (which is supposed to open the link in new tab in backgroud) I get 2 or 3 new tabs opened whith same content and when I middle click on tab to close it may 2 or 4 get closed...

too weird!!!!

No image context menu appears for the gallery on the following page:

[view.picapp.com]

It appears for me in Seamonkey, Firefox, and Opera, but not KM or IE6. Anyone else?

I just discovered k-meleon and could possibly use it as my default browser. One thing that bugs me is when I add bookmarks to my Personal Toolbar Folder, only certain websites actually show an icon next to the text for the website. Several others seem to just display the default 'blank page with an orange favorite star' in front of it.

It's not that big of a deal, but I'd really like to know how to get all my bookmarks to show my icon, so that I don't need text for any of them. Thanks in advance.

For the past month I've had a problem at startup time.
It happens just about every other day.

During startup... Windows stops and says... there is
disk inconsistency problem on my D: drive. And does
a check of the disk and always find no problem. Then
continues to startup normally. It's become real annoying.

The reason I'm wondering if "maybe" this is an issue
regarding K-Meleon is because... that's the drive that
I have K-Meleon installed on and I run consistently
everyday.

Could it be possible that either...
sometime during runtime or
maybe when I'm shutting down K-Meleon
a data file that's being written to is not being closed?

Maybe a (API version ->) Close.Handle(hFile) is missing
somewhere?

As a footnote... there is only one other program that I
use consistently everyday that's on my D: drive.
But I've already eliminated it as a possible suspect.

Problem: I've been unable to access any Flash videos on You TUbe or other sites using usingdes. deos. I get an error message stating that I need to "Get the Latest Flash Player". This problem is limited to K-Meleon as I can access Flash videos using other browsers, i.e. Opera, FF, Chrome, and IE.

I have the K-Meleon Flash Plugin v10.0r32 enabled. I also tried changing the UA to Firefox2 and SeaMonkey to no avail.

Another weird fact. I thought to install a current version of Adobe ted to download the current version of Adobe flashplayer. Thus, using the link for "another browser" I was taken to this page
==> [get.adobe.com]

Unfortunately, I couldn't activate the "Continue" button using K-Meleon.
Weird.

I had to use Opera to activate the button and download the correct file. I then installed the shockwave file but was still unable to use file.

Thus, can anyone suggest what I might do in order to be able to view Flash videos on You tube and other sites?

Thanks
Wndy
