A Little TLC

All hair takes a certain amount of care and love to be healthy and beautiful. However, ethnic hair tends to be a bit more temperamental and requires additional steps. Taking the time to understand the differences between ethnic, or black, hair, and European hair textures is important for both hair stylists and consumers. Products and hair care techniques are not made equal, and the informed consumer is the happy consumer.

A Different Version of Clean

Non-black or ethnic hair textures typically hold oil within their strands a bit easier; therefore washing becomes a daily or bi-daily activity. However, with black hair everyday washing risks stripping the hair of essential oils needed to be healthy and shiny, and leads to dry hair. Black hair needs to only be washed every 5-7 days, depending on the relative level of oil left in the hair. Some people might feel that this leaves the hair open to dirt and flakes. However, dirt tends to take longer to form in ethnic hair textures because of the oil deficit in the hair follicle. Finding the right hair washing rhythm for you is important to ensure continued hair health.

Just Relax

Many people with black hair prefer to apply a relaxer to reduce tight curls for a more manageable straight strand. However, this process can be very difficult on the hair and causes considerable damage, especially excessive breakage and dryness. Learning how to chemically relax the hair is an art, which you should only entrust to a knowledgeable hair stylist. No-lye relaxers are the standard today, yet these relaxers should still be very carefully applied to avoid burning and achieve optimum straightening.

Growing Your Hair Out

Black hair is slower to grow than other types of hair. Therefore it is important to massage the scalp and use products to promote a healthy scalp. Many products are available to promote hair growth. Products containing olive oil, petroleum oil, and other natural oils stimulate the follicle and promote a healthy growth pattern. Black hair is typically more dense, so it has a more difficult time absorbing the oil from the scalp, which is necessary to promote continued growth.

To Heat or Not

Heat is often very detrimental to many hair types. However, for people with black or ethnic hair textures, it can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Most people with ethnic hair textures have figured out that a little heat can often leave the hair looking beautifully straight and shiny. However the damage caused to insufficiently moisturized hair by heat can leave it extremely dry and brittle. Black hair should be exposed to heat as little as possible, perhaps only once a week for straightening. The hair should be protected from excessive sun exposure and heat styling.

Having lean body mass (muscles) helps our metabolisms stay in high gear, keeps our bones strong, prevents injuries, and wards off disease, including osteoporosis, diabetes, arthritis, back pain and high blood pressure.

And lets face it, toned and strong muscles look a heck of a lot better than fat and flab.

Brett Blumenthal, a beauty expert tell us that having body fat is ALSO important. Essential body fat is needed for the body to function normally and healthily, while storage fat is the fat that lies just under the skin. Both types, however, are important to your health.

Here are reasons why you should aim to maintain healthy levels of body fat:

1. Insulation: Fat is important in insulating our bodies. It is vital in helping regulate our body temperature, protecting us from extreme cold and heat.
2. Body Function: Body fat is crucial to your body functioning normally and healthy.
3. Vitamin Absorption: Fat is a transporter of fat soluble vitamins A-D-E-K. Without some body fat, you can end up with vitamin deficiencies which can cause disease.
4. Personal Shock Absorbers: Fat is your body’s natural cushioning mechanism. It surrounds and protects vital organs and keeps joints cushioned as well. Even athletes need body fat to protect their bodies from potential injury while competing and training.
5. Cell Structure, Beauty and Aging: Fat is part of the structure of our cells. It is also crucial in maintaining skin, hair and nail health. Further, although I’m the first to admit that having lean, toned muscles is beautiful, having NO softness to those muscles can be just as unattractive as flabby arms. A healthy body fat will keep you from looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger during his body building era.
6. Fertility: Body fat helps to ensure the production of hormones, including sex hormones. Women, specifically, who have very low body fat tend to have low estrogen levels and as a result, stop mentsruating.
7. Energy and Sickness: Having a healthy level of body fat is important in warding off illness or chronic fatigue. Further, energy levels can be disrupted or lowered as a result of too low body fat.

There are different ways to measure your body fat. Some methods are more accurate than others. And, each individual is different, so falling into certain ranges is a better way of knowing if you are at a healthy body fat percentage than paying attention to very specific numbers.

If you are a woman and have stopped menstruating or if you are either a man or a woman and you notice you are easily susceptible to colds and fatigue, you might want to have your body fat checked by a doctor to ensure it is at a healthy level.

Prevention is always a good beginning in addressing any concerns of upcoming and anticipated life changes during a menopause. Nevertheless it is also good to have a backup plan in case that something still occurs and need correcting. For women experiencing this phase in their lives, there are already anticipated things that may be prepared upon.

Overcoming Mood Swings

For the objective of immediate issue addressing, the occurrence of mood swings for women is a common thing but even with this preemptive association, it may still lead to unwanted stress for the person and with the immediate group of people surrounding her. Having to cope with a shorter temper and an increase in anxiety attacks, it would be wise to practice having a behavioral modification program even before the menopause stage kicks in. This modification doesn’t necessarily mean seeking professional help which would merit like a psychiatric intervention.

The people around the person should always be aware that a person who is about to go into this stage must have an attitude of acceptance, coupled with diversionary leisure activities. Even if there would be times when depression and mood alterations still happen after these preventive measures, it would be good to have a therapy program to control the present emotional downside. Some methods may employ the use of active diversionary means like going to the malls or maybe getting a pet for the person to bond with.

Internal Physical Balancing

The key player in this whole occurrence is the hormone estrogen. Practically everything which takes place and almost all the body changes seen post menopause stage are somewhat related to this component. Estrogen has a key effect in a lot of physiological processes particularly for the reproductive system and it is in this body system wherein most changes occur.

Vaginal lubrication is lessened, gastrointestinal problems, uterine lining is inactivated, menstruation episodes stop occur and overall body weakness is experienced during menopause. Although it would always be easier to try and provide proper supplementation for any lacking nutrients post menopausal stage, it would always be better if prevention and a preexisting healthy lifestyle was practiced before this stage. Simple things like light exercises and full meal diet, as well as refraining from cigarette smoking and alcoholic drinks have big impacts as one gets older and encounters significant life changes such as this.

Women who are undergoing this phase in their lives should always properly hydrate themselves and keep the muscles and body systems active to promote and stimulate the body to cope up effectively. Where some aspects may still fail, the amount of interventions through artificial means would be reduced if a healthy lifestyle is practiced.

23022008271 Facts and Tips About Hair Rebonding

Straight and shiny hair is mostly what women want. But unfortunately, some of them have wavy, curly or frizzy hair. When they go to a salon and ask their stylist what they can do about it, we recommend rebonding, straightening or relaxing.

Rebonding is the quickest and easiest way to have straight hair. Here are some important tips and facts about rebonding.

1. When you avail of hair rebonding, straightening or relaxing services, tell your hairstylists what treatments you have done to your hair for the past few months or years. You should also tell them what products you are putting to your hair.

It is important to tell these to your hairdresser so they know what product or mixture to put into your hair.

2. If your hair was treated with an alkaline- based product it should not be treated with thioglycolic acid-based products and vice versa.

3. Before, hairdressers would tell you that you cannot color your hair after rebonding or color it before rebonding. I say, you can color it before or after depending on the state of your hair, the technology of the product and the skill of your hairdresser.

4. You should regularly have a nourishing treatment to avoid dryness and to maintain the softness of your hair.

5. If you are a busy person and doesn’t have time to fix your hair, go for a straight hair. It is easier to maintain than a curly hair.

6. If you have a round face, straight hair can make your face look slimmer.

7. Straight hair is very versatile. It can go with almost any occasion, mood, dress, color and accessories.

8. Even if straight hair is easy to manage and versatile it is also very common, plain looking and looks limp if you have thin hair.

9. If you have straight hair most people see you as serious, sophisticated, intelligent a professional, elegant, and graceful as long as it is sleek and silky-smooth.

10. If your hair looks dull after rebonding, try having a gloss treatment.

It is good to try a new salon service once in a while, who knows it might be the best for you. So if you have frizzy, curly or wavy all your life, try to have it rebonded.

fruitsgalore Healthy Foods to Reduce StressStressful situations may make you feel more inclined to start stuffing your face with whatever is closest, cheapest and most convenient.

But whatever you do, don’t feed into your stress with junk food and empty calories. However tempting it seems to grab that fast food cheeseburger or polish off an entire bag of M&M’s, feeling lethargic and greasy will only make you feel physically worse–and even more stressed out.

Instead, do yourself a favor and try one of the following stress-busting snacks and mini-meals listed below. They’re all simple to throw together (or at least easy to buy),so you won’t be wasting any time in your packed itinerary.

Even better, you’ll have the proper nutrients to stay mentally alert, feel physically well and kick butt for the rest of the day. Doesn’t that sound great?

1. Whole Wheat Cereal with Soy or Skim Milk. It’s easy, it’s healthy, and most importantly–it’s fast. Bonus points if you throw in some dried fruit and raisins on top.

Why Eat This: Complex carb food is so much better for you than simple carbs because it takes more time for it to break down, and thus will not cause a spike in your blood sugar level.

2. Baked Sweet Potatoes Slices. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place sliced sweet potatoes in a baking dish coated with olive oil. Add some sprinkles of oregano, salt, pepper, and other spices as desired. Stick it in the oven for an hour, and use that hour to get some household errands done. Take it out of the oven, and you have a hearty, wholesome snack that won’t break your health!

Why Eat This: You’ll get your carb fix AND sweet tooth fix through a vegetable (as opposed to something that comes in a box or a plastic wrapper.) You will also get beta-carotene, vitamins and fiber as well.

3. A Trail Mix of Pistachios, Walnuts, Almonds and Dried Apricot. Put them in a bag or tupperware to munch on throughout the day. Versatile, non-perishable and super-easy.

Why Eat This: Apricots contain magnesium, a natural stress-buster and muscle relaxant. When you combine that with walnuts and pistachios (helps lower blood pressure) and almonds (helps boost your immune system), you have a potent stress-busting healthy snack that you can’t beat. Just make sure the nuts aren’t heavily salted.

4. Broccoli and Tempeh Stir-Fry Over Brown Rice. Cut up some broccoli and tempeh slices, and fry them in a wok until tender. Add whatever spices or flavorings you desire. Put them over some cooked brown rice, and you’re good to go.

Why Eat This: Broccoli is chock full of vitamins that will protect your body during times of stress. Brown rice contains fiber, Vitamin B and will not spike your blood sugar like white rice or other non-whole-grain carbohydrates. Tempeh contains soy, which is high in protein, calcium and magnesium.

Beauty TanningEveryone wants the perfect tan but tanning in the sun is sooo last decade, not to mention dangerous. We asked our tanning guru, Heather Kwasnieski at Luminess, how the celebs get those perfect tans.  In a word, “Air-brush.”

Advantages:
“Since you’re not using a cream, you’re not going to get the streaks you get with the cream. The tanning solution is pixilated and is basically airbrushed onto the skin. A very smooth finish—no streaks, no dripping. And the DHA [active ingredient] in our tanning solution is up to 700 times more powerful than a lot of the creams and tanning solutions out there.

How long it lasts:
“The active ingredient changes the pigmentation of your skin. And this tan will last for 14 days. Let’s say two days later you want to darken it up a little bit, you just do one coat. We have enough for six full-body tannings.”

How to prep:
“Exfoliating—just like if you were going to go to a tanning salon…you don’t have to put any cream on your nails like you do when you get a Mystic Tan, because it’s not going to tan your nails unless you put the stylus right there. It only sprays where it is pointed.”

What to avoid:
“You want to wait to shower—wait until the following morning if you tan at night. You want to give yourself a little bit of time so it has time to penetrate and react with the skin cells to darken your skin.”

Using tanner to define muscles:
“You can even use darker shades of foundation to do that as well. Say, for instance, you want to define your abs a little bit, but you don’t want to have cartoon abs for a week, you could wash it off that evening.”

She also added that the system comes with enough solution for about six full-body tans, and that you can spot tan—for example, only airbrush your legs—to darken or maintain the tan. The tanning system is $149.

Lauren ConradLauren Conrad, former star of the “Hills”, epitomizes the Californian beach look – with her natural tan, brilliant white teeth, and minimalist make-up. But like most actors, there’s more to it than a dab of powder. For her secrets, we went straight to her make-up artist, Amy Nadine , who uses Lauren’s favorite

Products from make-up line mark. (Conrad is a spokesperson for the line.)

On The Edge Liquid Liner:?There is no better liquid liner on the market than On The Edge Hook-up by Mark Cosmetics. It doesn’t flake or feather and is the most user-friendly brush I’ve ever used. Anyone can draw a perfect line like a pro with it! Lauren Conrad wears it daily in Cleo (black) but I personally love it in Nefertini because it still adds the drama that only a liquid liner can, but is softer chrome color for a freckled-face strawberry blonde like me! And at $5, it’s a steal!!

Glow Baby Glow Luxe :

Lauren’s signature look is a dramatic eye, bronzed California glow and a nude lip.  She loves wearing mark Glow Baby Glow Luxe in Sun Luxe because it’s a true nude with the perfect amount of shimmer.??? Hook-ups: ?”I am obsessed with hook-ups because they are the perfect way to customize your color and simplify your life. I often leave clients with a connector and whatever mark lip gloss they are wearing hooked up to a mascara/liner/shadow/gel blush so they can easily slip it in their clutches and have it for touch-ups.  The combinations are endless.”

Wet hair, smudged eyeliner, chipped nails. These mishaps top the list of Office Beauty No-Nos. We all know that we need to be presentable at work. But beyond the obvious, what does presentable actually mean?

What you can get away with in terms of grooming in the office has a lot to do with your company’s corporate culture. Much like a dress code, more creative, laidback occupations call for less stringent beauty routines. However, there are some rules that apply to almost everyone.

For one, don’t shy away from color, especially when it comes to lipstick. Red lipstick looks right, even in a boardroom. “A perfect red mouth, with a bit of blush and a neutral eye shadow, always looks appropriate,” says makeup artist Napoleon Perdis, whose clients include Debra Messing. Shy away from glosses and try a matte, creamy lipstick like Brick Red–a neutral, brownish red–from Bobbi Brown. The key is to keep it clean. To ensure the lipstick doesn’t bleed onto the skin around your mouth, fill in your lips with a nude pencil before applying.

Bold makeup can work at the office. But if your beauty routine currently consists of a swipe of moisturizer and a smile, take baby steps to clean it up a bit. Simple makeup is never a bad idea, especially when there’s an impromptu meeting or luncheon to attend. The trio of mascara, concealer and blush adds just enough polish to your appearance, says Perdis.

Hair, on the other hand, isn’t always so simple. Some of us spend hours each morning blow drying, curling, ironing and teasing our tresses. For a perfectly sleek ‘do, a professional blow dry–also known as a blowout–is worth the cash. Any salon will do a blowout, and prices often start at just $25. Buy some dry shampoo–a powder shampoo that soaks up oil from your roots–and your frizz-free tresses will last for days. “For a big interview, invest in a great blow dry. Looking simple and classic can help you land a job,” says hair stylist Patrick Melville, whose clients include Jennifer Connelly and Eva Longoria Parker.

If you’re still weary about spending money on something you can do for yourself, there are plenty of frizz-taming products on the market. Those behind Living Proof No Frizz, a new line created in the labs of M.I.T., say that their products smooth hair with polyfluoro ester, a molecule that is said to work better at reducing fuzz than silicone. There are formulas available for several different hair types, including curly and straight, thick and thin.

Melville says that roots-free hair is also a must for professional women. If you can’t muster up the time–or money–it takes to maintain roots, consider doing the touch-ups yourself. Kits are often sold at professional salons; your colorist can formulate the dye to ensure it matches your in-salon treatment.

http://www.condenast.co.uk/imagelib/320x360/k_n/New-Cleanser-Green_320.jpgCLEANSING is probably the simplest, most beautiful of beauty rituals. You take the grime and dirt off your face and body, and you instantly feel fresher.

Now, this base on which all other beauty rituals are built on may sound easy, but finding the right cleanser or soap can take you awhile. Here are some suggestions:

? Simple Cleansing Wipes: The best as far as facial wipes go. It cleanses, removes even waterproof mascara and doesn’t sting your face. Which is quite a feat. If you have sensitive skin and have tried other formulations which are harsher to facial skin, you’d understand. Tagged at RM17.90 (available at pharmacies), it’s easy on the pocket too.

? Bobbi Brown Oil Cleanser: Most brands have their own version of the formulation made popular by Japanese make-up artist Shu Uemura. This one contains olive and jojoba oils to dissolve impurities and ginger root for a soothing effect. The oil cleanser is another good choice for the face because it’s powerful enough to remove make-up, yet gentle. A point to remember, though: keep your hands dry when applying, otherwise the oil will emulsify on your palms.

? Coriander Seed Soap Slab: Melbourne-based brand Aesop introduces the Coriander Seed Soap Slab (to replace its Ginger Root Soap Slab), a body cleanser made with spices that usually go into our Asian recipes, namely coriander seed and black pepper. Like Aesop’s other soap slabs, this one is gentle but highly efficient. And if you think the 310g bar is too big, cut it into three pieces and use one slab at a time.
? La Mer Body Refiner: This cleansing gem comes from La Mer, the purveyor of all things luxurious and exquisite (read: expensive). It uses 1.75 carats pure diamond dust in its Body Refiner. Used on its own (no need to use soap afterwards), it is said to “detoxify and purify skin for a bright and healthy appearance”.

There’s also tourmaline and sea quartz to “convert the massage action into energy”. This one is also suitable for sensitive skin… although at a whopping RM450, personally, I think I’m more sensitive to the price tag.

The Jefferson County Fair Queen Contest has come a long way from the days when contestants modeled formal wear and answered a question about world peace. Now, judges are looking for the beauty within.

Over the last eight years, fair queen contest organizers Kortney Heald and her daughters, Cynthia Post and Bethany Heald, have worked with the Jefferson County Fair Board to implement changes in the way the fair queen is selected. One goal in making the changes was to ensure that the contest was more than just a beauty pageant.

“The girls should be valued for who they are on the inside, as well,” said Kortney Heald.

Another motivation for change was to make sure the county fair queen was adequately prepared for the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest.

“We have tried to incorporate some of the activities that the county queen would have to participate in when she goes on to the state fair competition,” Heald said.

In the past, fair queen contestants simply wore formal wear and answered just one random question. With the state fair competition in mind, organizers have expanded the contest to include additional interviews. Contestants participate in a group interview where they all meet with the judges together at the same time. Candidates are given topics from each judge in the form of a question. The girls must discuss the topics as a group while the judges listen.

2484933 Angelina Jolie's Beauty SecretAngelina Jolie’s dewy complexion is down to a facial using hundreds of small needles.

The ‘Salt’ actress reportedly uses a new treatment called Dermaroller, which sees a wooden implement covered in razor-sharp pins passed over the face to make the pores bleed.

Referring to Angelina’s recent fresh-faced appearance on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in France, a source told Britain’s Grazia magazine: “Angelina wanted to pull out all the stops. She knew all eyes would be on her. She’s been using the Dermaroller on and off for six months, as she wants to avoid plastic surgery.”

Sessions of the new skincare treatment cost around £445.

It is claimed that pricking the skin makes the body produce increased amounts of collagen to mend the damage.

As the skin is repaired, it begins to look dewy, smoother and younger.

London’s Prager Clinic’s Dr. Michael Prager, who has not treated the 33-year-old actress, said: “Angelina’s skin has the kind of plumpness you see in patients who use the treatment.”

8339 Go beyond green with eco friendly beauty trends(ARA) – Green living doesn’t have to mean forgoing the latest looks, especially when eco-conscious beauty is the hottest thing going. Formulations driven by nature, practices that are kind to the earth and minimal packaging are all cool ways to celebrate the warm weather.
Here are some of the hottest eco-conscious beauty trends going:

Fresh as a Rose

The classic and perfect rose inspires some of the hottest colors and scents of the season. Cheeks blush in pretty shades of pink for day and bold fuchsia for evening while glamorous pink lips perfectly accompany spring smiles.

For an all-over ethereal glow, the Roseflower Radiance Stick from The Body Shop is a soft, natural and preservative-free way to achieve a dewy spring glow. Match spring’s romantic mood and sweep the silky, sheer golden pink highlighter along the cheekbones for a subtle shimmer that enhances the complexion.

* Style Highlight

Made with rose oil from the “valley of roses” near the Atlas Mountains, The Body Shop Moroccan Rose Body Butter melts on contact with the skin for superb hydration and releases the delectable fragrance of roses harvested at dawn, at their fragrance peak. It also features rich Community Trade ingredients from Ghana and Brazil.

Pastels and Pinks

This season, eyes shimmer in paparazzi-friendly pastel greens, pinks and golds. Celebrity makeup artist Chase Aston says a soft gold eye shimmer is fresh and modern and is perfect for an allover eye, from lash to brow. For a contemporary effect, a cool mint green swept along the top lash line and underneath the lower lashes sings spring.

* Style Highlight

“To take this runway look to night and capture a perfectly imperfect smoky eye, take a black eye definer pencil and line along top lash line, then dip an eye color brush into midnight blue eye color and smudge over eye definer line,” says Aston.

Waste Not

What is on the outside of a beauty product is just as important as what’s within. Look for sustainably-harvested and fairly-traded ingredients as well as minimal packaging made from post-consumer materials. And when you’re done with a container, remember to recycle it!

Wild Accessories

Reduce, reuse and recycle are today’s hottest buzzwords. Raid your closet for vintage jewelry and accessories or hit your local thrift shop for a bold bargain that pops. When the sun is shining, remember to protect yourself from UV rays with a stylish round pair of sunglasses.

Beauty that Gives Back

Being good to the Earth also includes being kind to the people who inhabit the planet. Everyday products and practices can make a big difference, so look for beauty that gives back.

*Style Highlight

Purchasing a product like the preservative-free Tantalizing Lip Butter from The Body Shop and MTV means a donation is made to the Staying Alive Foundation — a charity saving lives by empowering young people around the world to protect themselves and their communities against HIV and AIDS. Now that’s beautiful.

And when you’re done all your beauty shopping, you need an eco-friendly and stylish bag to carry all your goodies home in. Try The Body Shop Bag for Life, which is a reusable, organically grown cotton bag produced without harmful pesticides.

8568 Your summer beauty routine, inspired by natureWarm weather is here and it’s time to update your beauty routine for summer. Why not take some inspiration from warm weather’s renewal theme and refresh your beauty regimen?

The welcome change in seasons brings longer days, trees and flowers in bloom and more time spent outside.

Nature has so much to offer, including inspiration for products that can help you look and feel beautiful from head to toe.

“It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by choices with so many new products on the market,” says Jeni Thomas, a beauty scientist with Procter & Gamble.

“It can be difficult to know which products really work and which natural ingredients can be effective elements of your beauty routine. The key to finding nature-inspired products that do work is to look for ones that blend and balance nature with science.”

Seeking out products that combine the best of ingredients with the best of science gives you nature-inspired options that really perform and keep you looking your best. While many new beauty manufacturers may be unfamiliar to you, some of the most highly recognized and respected cosmetics brands are now offering nature-inspired products. Consumers often gravitate toward these brands because they are recognized, trusted, and easily available.

Here is a sampling of nature-inspired products from brand names you recognize and that you’ll easily find on your local supermarket or drug store shelves:

* CoverGirl now offers TruBlend MicroMinerals foundation, designed to fine-tune mineral coverage from sheer to full. The product incorporates iron oxides, minerals that give nice even coverage to skin, as well as pearl and mica to give skin a luminous, healthy glow.

* Hair color goes nature-inspired with Clairol’s Natural Instincts line. Like other Clairol products, the hair color blends away gray in just 10 minutes, but relies on an antioxidant-rich, ammonia-free formula with vitamins C and E to accomplish healthy-looking color and shine.

* Consumers know and trust the name Olay. Now the company has introduced a Botanical Fusion Body Wash formulated with scents and ingredients inspired by nature, such as patchouli, rosemary and ginger. The wash incorporates these invigorating scents with hydrating and skin-nurturing ingredients.

* The Cassia plant, a botanical science discovery that helps give hair radiance, softness and strength, is the key ingredient in Pantene Pro-V’s new Nature Fusion shampoo.

“Consumers looking for nature-inspired products no longer have to search specialty shops or the Internet to find the effective products they crave,” Thomas says. “Some of the most recognized names in health and beauty are responding to consumer demand with effective, cost-conscious, nature-inspired products.”

2475941 Model's 10 minute Make up TipsLinda Evangelista applies her make-up in 10 minutes.

The Canadian supermodel – who fronted last year’s Prada Fall campaign and is the current face of L’Oreal Paris cosmetics – has learnt so many beauty tricks during her 30-year career she only takes a few minutes to perfect her appearance.

She said: “I did my own make-up this morning and it takes 10 minutes, tops! My best trick is to do it in natural light. I keep all my make-up on a huge mirrored tray and I just take it to whatever window is looking good that day.”

However, the 44-year-old beauty is so particular about how her lips look she often turns down the industry’s biggest make-up artists to make them up herself.

She explained to Britain’s Grazia magazine: “I can’t live without lip liner – it just makes my face and defines it like nothing else. My cheekbones are sucked in and everything just sharpens. I’ve been using it for years and I never let make-up artists do my lip liner on shoots, not even the big ones!

“I don’t do lipstick. I think lip liner and a slick of gloss give a much more modern and plumping effect.”

Adriana LimaMany people look at ads in high fashion magazines, billboards or television commercials and wonder what they can do to have chic modelesque hair. Models like Gisele or Adriana Lima seem to have effortlessly gorgeous hair, but they didn’t just roll out of bed with fabulous hair, doing nothing more than running their fingers through it. Here are some things anyone can do to have chic modelesque hair.

Step 1. Consult with a stylist before making an appointment if you want to have modelesque hair. Get to know the stylist and see how well she communicates and listens to your style ideas of achieving chic, modelesque hair.

Step 2. Start with figuring out your face shape. If you want to have modelesque hair, your ideal hairstyle should complement the coloring, shape and features of your face.

Step 3. Browse through hairstyle photos and magazines with your stylist. Look for models like Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks or Kat Shandruk and find one with a similar hair type, texture and face shape as you search for the right look.

Step 4. Work with your hair’s natural texture, if you want to have chic modelesque hair. Don’t spend hours each morning trying to straighten curly hair or waste money damaging your baby-fine, straight hair with perms. Choose a style that works with not against your natural hair texture.

Step 5. Select a style that is easy to maintain so you don’t spend hours each day attempting to recreate a style you brought home from the salon. If you want to have chic modelesque hair like Kate Moss, you need a fashionable style that is relatively low maintenance.
