I feel this way with one of the roommates I'm living with in university. I go to Waterloo.
I was never close with her in grade 12, but we were friendly and hung out in the same friend group, and decided to be roommates, even though she was always closer with my other friends.
We got really tight during the school year, sometimes we'd go out to restaurants at 3 am just to talk, randomly knock on each other's doors to say what's up, gave her a lot of advice about her ex-boyfriend, she threw me a party for my birthday in January. I just felt so happy, since I was never this close with her in grade 12, and I was really thankful to have a friend like her who I could do so many things with.
And now, school's over for the summer, and I hung out with my friend group again from high school last week, and I just felt like a third wheel, and she was having so much fun with all of our friends, I didn't even talk to her a lot today. I drifted from most of my friend group already, we all went to different universities, and maybe she's just more of a versatile personality that clicks with everyone, I don't really have a lot of people I click with. I guess I just have a really fun time hanging out with her 1 on 1, but in groups, I find that we don't have as much fun together. Even though we had fun with each other during the school year, I'm pretty sure she'd rather hang out and have one of our other friends than me for her roommate and it just felt like grade 12.
I don't know if drifting is the right word for it, but we are hanging out with different people in the summer, but at the same time, I kinda miss just hanging out with her, and just texting her gets boring and it doesn't really get anywhere. She also texted way more during school (when we weren't together like on the weekends at home) just to say what's up, and now she doesn't really do that anymore. We also live kinda far from each other. I'm living with her next year, and I'm sure things will get back to how they were in the school year, but any advice? I may be being selfish here.
